The knowledge of the wave-induced hydrodynamic loads on coastal dikes including their temporal and spatial resolution on the dike in combination with actual water levels is of crucial importance of any risk-based early warning system. As a basis for the assessment of the wave-induced hydrodynamic loads, an operational wave now-and forecast system is set up that consists of i) available field measurements from the federal and local authorities and ii) data from numerical simulation of waves in the german Bight using the SWAN wave model. In this study, results of the hindcast of deep water wave conditions during the winter storm on 5–6 December, 2013(german name ‘Xaver') are shown and compared with available measurements. Moreover field measurements of wave run-up from the local authorities at a sea dike on the german North Sea Island of Pellworm are presented and compared against calculated wave run-up using the Eur Otop(2016) approach.

Objective: To investigate the effect of drought stress and organic fertilizer on german chamomile(Matricaria chamomilla) nutrient uptake, leaf chlorophyll content and osmotic adjustment under field ***: This experiment was carried out through a randomized complete block design with a split factorial arrangement of treatments in three replications. The main plots were subjected to the following irrigation treatments: irrigation after 60, 90, 120, 150 and180 mm evaporation from Class A pan. The sub-plots were treated with three vermicompost doses(0, 5 and 10 t/ha).Results: Although drought stress reduced the nutrient percentages in the shoots, application of vermicompost enhanced the nutrient percentages, particularly when the plants were subjected to moderate to severe drought stress conditions. Moreover, the results of this study showed that the interaction between irrigation treatments and vermicompost rates on leaf chlorophyll content was significant. Comparison between the combined treatments indicated that under normal irrigation and moderate drought stress conditions chamomile plants received 5 and 10 t/ha vermicompost showed significantly higher leaf chlorophyll content comparing to the control ***: Totally, organic fertilization by vermicompost could partly alleviate the effect of drought stress on chamomile by increasing N, P and K uptake and leaf soluble sugar, especially in stressed treatments.

Objective： To investigate menopause-related symptoms, traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM）-diagnosis and hormone status of two comparable urban samples of menopausal women, one in Essen （germany） and the other in Shanghai （China）. Methods： Patients suffering from menopausesyndrome were recruited from the TCM-outpatient clinic of the University of Duisburg-Essen in germany （35 subjects） and from the Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China （35 subjects）. The Kupperman-lndex for tracing menopausal symptoms was applied. The complete TCM-diagnosis was carried out by the same investigator in China as well as in germany. Testosterone and estrogen blood samples were collected once from every woman. Results： There were significant differences in specific symptoms of the Kupperman-lndex, such as a higher prevalence of formication and depression in german menopausal women; whereas Chinese menopausal women suffered significantly more from vertigo, headache and paraesthesia symptoms. Concerning TCM- diagnosis, Shen （肾）-yang deficiency was diagnosed in 51.43% of the german women in contrast to 5.71 % of the Chinese women; 17.14 % of the german women were diagnosed as having Shen-yin deficiency compared to 74.29 % of the Chinese women. The german women showed significantly lower mean hormone levels for testosterone compared to the Chinese women （P≤0.0005）. Conclusions： german and Chinese menopausal women do not show different prevalence but have different patterns of menopausal symptoms. Furthermore, from a TCM point of view, german women suffer more from Shen-yang deficiency whereas Chinese women suffer more from Shen-yin deficiency syndrome. These results are supported by significantly lower levels of testosterone in german women compared to Chinese women, which, in TCM, is a characteristic of yang deficiency.

In this article,I examine Martin Heidegger’s 1950 lecture/essay“The Thing”(Das Ding)in two ***,as a piece influenced by chapter 11 of the *** second,as a postwar writing which can be interpreted vis-a-vis the Black Notebooks and his other *** are instances in“The Thing”which are analogous to his statements found in the Black Notebooks and his other writings which describe and clarify his controversial political *** brief,I suggest here that Heidegger’s articulation of the concept of wu 無 of chapter 11 of the Daodejing as the void of the jug in“The Thing”may potentially describe his controversial engagement with german National Socialism as part of his response to the call for german ***,the fundamentality of the void of the jug is comparable to the exclusivity and exceptionality of the germans in their mission;and the use of the void of the jug as outpouring is an interesting way to emphasize his disagreement with the regime by pointing out that his support to german National Socialism is not to the extent of brutally annihilating the Jews.
