A novel hybrid adsorbent(HA)composed of cellulose fiber,activated carbon,and anion exchange resin Dowex 1×8 was prepared for the preconcentration and separation of noble metals,namely,gold(Au),palladium(Pd)and platinum(Pt),in geological *** optimal experimental parameters,such as flow rate,sample volume and interfering ions,were *** accuracy of the method was confirmed by added/found method for tap and sea water,and evaluated by analyzing certified reference materials with good *** the optimal experimental conditions,the detection limits(3σcriteria)of the developed technique were 0.008 ng mL(Au),0.017 ng mL(Pd)and0.014 ng mL(Pt)and the sample throughput reach to 30 samples every eight hours,Moreover,the adsorption capacity of HA for Au,Pd and Pt was determined to be 4.8.2,35.9 and 29.8 mg g,respectively.

The concentrations of SiO,Al2O,KO,NaO,CaO,MgO,Fe2Oand TiO,and loss on ignition(L.O.I.) are the main inorganic components of geological *** of the eight oxides and *** also the main indicators of concern in the production of building *** analysis of the eight oxides and *** performed using fiber-laserbased laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS).A combination of continuous background deduction,full width at half maximum(FWHM) intensity integral and spectral sum normalization was proposed for data *** the data processing combined the continuous background deduction,FWHM intensity integral and spectral sum normalization,the mean absolute errors(MAEs) of the calibration of L.O.I.,SiO,Al2O,KO,NaO,CaO,MgO,Fe2Oand TiOwas reduced from 2.03%,12.06%,4.84%,1.10%,0.69%,0.31%,0.11%,0.20%and 0.10% to 1.80%,9.48%,2.12%,0.36%,0.58%,0.11%,0.08%,0.19% and 0.05%,*** multivariate method was further introduced and discussed to improve the analysis *** MAEs of L.O.I.,SiO,Al2O,KO and NaO were further reduced to1.12%,2.07%,1.38%,0.35% and 0.43%,*** results show that the overall prediction error can meet the requirements for the production of building *** LIBS desktop analyzer has great potential in detection applications on geological samples.

A straightforward one-step Hf purification protocol for geological samples using common anionexchange chromatography and isotopic measurements by multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(MC-ICP-MS) is described in this *** sample is dissolved in concentrated HF-HNO mixtures with round-bottom Savillex Teflon screw-top capsules or high-pressure stainless steel jacketed Teflon *** complete dissolution,the chemical separation between Hf and isobarically interfering elements such as Lu,Yb,and matrix elements like Ti,is performed and achieved simultaneously using a common one-step anion exchange resin(AG1-X8).The Hf yields are>90%and total procedural blanks are lower than 20 *** protocol not only avoids using multiple-stage ion exchange resins,but also eliminates perchloric acid to break down fluorides after HF treatment of the *** addition to whole rock,this protocol is also practical for zircon and baddeleyite Hf purification prior to isotopic *** Hf isotopic data for zircon 91500,Temora,CN92-1 and FM0411, together with Phalaborwa baddeleyite are presented for this *** analyses of the international geological reference materials and standard zircon and baddeleyite used in U-Pb geochronology demonstrate that this method is simple,economic,efficient and reproducible.

A combined procedure for separating Lu,Hf,Rb,Sr,Sm and Nd from a single sample digestion is presented in this *** procedure consists of the following four steps:(1) sample dissolution in a mixture of concentrated HF-HNO-HClO;(2) Lu and Hf separation from the Rb,Sr,LMREE and other matrix elements by HF-free extraction chromatography;(3) Rb,Sr and LMREE separation from other matrix elements using a cation-exchange resin;(4) Sm and Nd separation from others LMREE by extraction *** feasibility,flexibility and reproducibility of Rb-Sr,Sm-Nd and Lu-Hf isotope systems are demonstrated for international standard solutions and Certified Reference Materials(CRMs). Results show good agreement with previously reported values by isotope dilution methods,indicating the technique has fewer problems in respect to well-known sample inhomogeneity of natural geological materials and demonstrating its potential application to the study of limited and precious terrestrial rocks or minerals(like peridotite,kimberlite and xenoliths) and extra-terrestrial samples(like lunar rock and meteorites).
