In order to make more exact predictions of gas emissions, information fusion and chaos time series are com- bined to predict the amount of gas emission in pits. First, a multi-sensor information fusion frame is established. The frame includes a data level, a character level and a decision level. Functions at every level are interpreted in detail in this paper. Then, the process of information fusion for gas emission is introduced. On the basis of those data processed at the data and character levels, the chaos time series and neural network are combined to predict the amount of gas emission at the decision level. The weights of the neural network are gained by training not by manual setting, in order to avoid subjectivity introduced by human intervention. Finally, the experimental results were analyzed in Matlab 6.0 and prove that the method is more accurate in the prediction of the amount of gas emission than the traditional method.

An unavoidable but reusable waste so as to enhance a more circular waste utilization has been spent potlining(SPL) generated by the aluminum industry.The combustion mechanisms, evolved gasses, and ash properties of SPL were characterized dynamically in response to the elevated temperature and heating rates.Differential scanning calorimetric(DSC) results indicated an exothermic reaction behavior probably able to meet the energy needs of various industrial applications.The reaction mechanisms for the SPL combustion were best described using the 1.5-, 3-and 2.5-order reaction models.Fluoride volatilization rate of the flue gas was estimated at 2.24%.The SPL combustion emitted CO_(2), HNCO, NO, and NO_(2) but SO_(x).The joint optimization of remaining mass, derivative thermogravimetry, and derivative DSC was achieved with the optimal temperature and heating rate combination of 783.5 ℃, and 5 ℃/min, respectively.Interaction between temperature and heating rate exerted the strongest and weakest impact on DSC and remaining mass, respectively.The fluorine mainly as the formation of substantial NaF and CaF_(2) in the residual ash.Besides,the composition and effect of environment of residual solid were evaluated.The ash slagging tendency and its mineral deposition mechanisms were elucidated in terms of turning SPL waste into a benign input to a circular waste utilization.

Underground gassy longwall mining goafs may suffer potential gas explosions during the mining process because of the irregularity of gas emissions in the goaf and poor ventilation of the working face,which are risks difficult to control.In this work,the 3235 working face of the Xutuan Colliery in Suzhou City,China,was researched as a case study.The effects of air quantity and gas emission on the three-dimensional distribution of oxygen and methane concentration in the longwall goaf were studied.Based on the revised Coward’s triangle and linear coupling region formula,the coupled methane-oxygen explosive hazard zones(CEHZs)were drawn.Furthermore,a simple practical index was proposed to quantitatively determine the gas explosion risk in the longwall goaf.The results showed that the CEHZs mainly focus on the intake side where the risk of gas explosion is greatest.The CEHZ is reduced with increasing air quantity.Moreover,the higher the gas emission,the larger the CEHZ,which moves towards the intake side at low goaf heights and shifts to the deeper parts of the goaf at high heights.In addition,the risk of gas explosion is reduced as air quantities increase,but when gas emissions increase to a higher level(greater than 50 m3/min),the volume of the CEHZ does not decrease with the increase of air quantity,and the risk of gas explosion no longer shows a linear downward trend.This study is of significance as it seeks to reduce gas explosion accidents and improve mine production safety.

Four gas and six water samples were collected from the Qingzhu River in Qjngchuan County,one of the regions affected by the 2008 Ms8.0 giant Wenchuan Earthquake.gases were discharged soon after the earthquake, but such emissions ceased in October 2008.The predominant gases are CH,CO,N and O.The N, O and noble gases are of atmospheric origin.In contrast,the H and CO have typical biogenic signatures, with high C/(C+C),;δC(-56.1 to-56.6%.);δD(-328 to-345‰.);andδC(-6.7 to—4.9‰).These measurements indicate that the gases are discharged from a shallow reservoir through faults or fractures caused by the earthquake.The discharging gases are significantly distinct from the natural gas fields nearby,suggesting that there are no direct pathways,such as faults or fractures,between the surface and the natural gas reservoir.

Human living would be impossible without air quality. Consistent advancements in practically every aspect of contemporary human life have harmed air quality. Everyday industrial, transportation, and home activities turn up dangerous contaminants in our surroundings. This study investigated two years’ worth of air quality and outlier detection data from two Indian cities. Studies on air pollution have used numerous types of methodologies, with various gases being seen as a vector whose components include gas concentration values for each observation per-formed. We use curves to represent the monthly average of daily gas emissions in our technique. The approach, which is based on functional depth, was used to find outliers in the city of Delhi and Kolkata’s gas emissions, and the outcomes were compared to those from the traditional method. In the evaluation and comparison of these models’ performances, the functional approach model studied well.

Measuring ammonia(NH_(3))volatilization from urea-fertilized soils is crucial for evaluation of practices that reduce gaseous nitrogen(N)losses in agriculture.The small area of chambers used for NH_(3)volatilization measurements compared with the size of field plots may cause significant errors if inadequate sampling strategies are adopted.Our aims were:i)to investigate the effect of using multiple open chambers on the variability in the measurement of NH_(3)volatilization in urea-amended field plots and ii)to define the critical period of NH_(3)-N losses during which the concentration of sampling effort is capable of reducing uncertainty.The use of only one chamber covering 0.015%of the plot(51.84 m^(2))generates a value of NH_(3)-N loss within an expected margin of error of 30%around the true mean.To reduce the error margin by half(15%),3–7 chambers were required with a mean of 5 chambers per plot.Concentrating the sampling efforts in the first two weeks after urea application,which is usually the most critical period of N losses and associated errors,represents an efficient strategy to lessen uncertainty in the measurements of NH_(3)volatilization.This strategy enhances the power of detection of NH_(3)-N loss abatement in field experiments using chambers.

Field studies on soil ammonia(NH_(3))volatilization are restricted in many countries owing to the high costs commonly demanded for accurate quantification.We assessed the accuracy of a simple,open chamber design to capture NH_(3)under field conditions,as affected by different chamber placement schemes.Urea-15 N was surface applied to lysimeters installed in the spaces between maize rows.Open chambers made from plastic bottles were installed on each lysimeter with variations in i)N rates(3,8,13,and 18 g m^(-2)),ii)the height of the chamber above the soil surface(0,5,and 10 mm),and iii)chamber relocation(static vs.dynamic).Reference lysimeters without chambers were used to measure NH_(3)losses by^(15)N-balance.Losses of NH_(3)-N accounted for more than 50%of the applied N.Relocation of the chambers had no impact on their NH_(3)-trapping efficiencies,proving to be an unnecessary procedure.Variation in the height of the chambers above the soil surface affected the capture of NH_(3),but the results still maintained high linearity with the NH_(3)losses quantified by the reference method(R^(2)>0.98).When the same placement scheme used in the introductory study describing the chamber was utilized(static and touching the soil surface),we found a trapping efficiency of 60%,which was very similar to that(57%)obtained in the previous study.Our results show that this simple,open chamber design can be used with satisfactory accuracy under field conditions,provided that simple,standardized procedures are warranted.

The increase in the urban population and the high concentration of many anthropogenic activities in certain regions of the world lead to atmospheric disturbances. The excess concentration of several chemical elements leads to air pollution. In order to identify the types of air pollutants, a study was carried out in the city of Lomé, the capital of Togo. The objective of this study is to achieve a better knowledge of the types of air pollutants in the city of Lomé. The identification of the various atmospheric pollutants linked to the sources of pollution was made using micro-sensors. The standardized method was used to access target gas concentration levels. The average concentrations of NO2 gaseous pollutants at landfills are on average 0.333 μg/m3;0.403 mg/m3 at the industrial level, at the transport level they are on average 0.434 mg/m3 for the morning and 0.457 mg/m3 for the evening.
