The determination of emitted Biogenic Volatile Compounds （BioVOCs） profile via Field Air Analysis （FAA） - Solid Phase Micro Extraction （75μm Carboxen/PDMS portable field sampler） was performed using GC-MS. The six sampling sites located in the Natural Park of Ampezzo Dolomites, part of the UNESCO＇s World Heritage List, are characterized by different predominating vegetation. The ubiquitous compound hexanal was chosen as internal standard, in order to compare the amounts of the different compound in the different sites. The main terpenes identified were α-pinene, 13-pinene, 6-3-carene and d-limonene, while 1,8 cineole was the highest abundant oxygenated terpene. In the site next the＇national road a higher amount of benzene derivatives （ben- zene, toluene, o-xylene, p-xylene and ethylbenzene） were observed. In the site relatively close to the road a marked decrease of benzene deriva- tives was observed. In the sites close to conifers （i.e. Fir, Pine and Larch） the terpenic content observed was higher than in the site close to the mixed forest （mainly large-leaf and some conifers）. Some terpenes were observed also in the high-quote meadow site, although of lower abun- dance than in the other sites. The highest abundance of terpenes was ob- served in the Pinus cerebra （Swiss Pine） site.

Capillary column preparation using perpentylated (2,3,6-tri-O-pentyl)-β-cyclodextrin asstationary phase by sol-gel technology with simplicity and rapidity is described. Multiplepreparation steps in conventional column technology were avoided. The prepared columns exhibitsatisfactory chromatographic performances and pronounced selectivity for a wide range of testsolutes, and have been successfully used for the separation of nitrotoluene, dimethoxybenzene,alcohols, alkanes, dimethylphenol and cresol isomers.

A novel stochastic resonance algorithm was employed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of signals of analytical chemistry. By using a gas chromatographic data set, it was proven that the SNR was greatly improved and the quantitative relationship between concentrations and chromatographic responses remained simultaneously. The linear range was extended beyond the instrumental detection limit.

This paper describes the determination of water content of water-soluble paints by gas chromatography. The water in paints is extracted by dimethyl formamide (DMF) as a *** is used as an internal standard. The mixture is separated by low-speed *** a 1-uL sample of the supernatant from the prepared solution is injected into the gas chromatograph. The water content is determined by internal standard calibration curve. The rate of recovery of added standard of this method is more than 98%. Relative mean deviation is less than 3‰.The linearity of calibration curve is good and relativity coefficient is higher than 0.998.

The GC determination of aldehydes and ketones in stack gas was reported. The stack gas was collected with the dust sampler by isokinetic sampling technique, 2,4 dinitrophenylhydrazine in acidic solution was used to absorb aldehydes and ketones in stack gas specifically, to form their hydrazones, which were determined by GC with a capillary column of SE 54. The GC system can separate nine hydrazones of carbonyls interested with constant recovery rates of 94%—97%, giving lowest detectable limits of 0 05—1 0 ng. The standard gas of carbonyls were determined by this method with relative errors of -5% to -10%, percent coefficients of variation within 5%, and spiking recovery rates of 93%—97%. As an application of the method, the carbonyl pollutants were determined in stack gas samples of a chemical plant.

Natural Attenuation and Biostimulation of Biodiesel Contaminated Soils from Southern Brazil with Different Particle Sizes

Biodiesel bioremediation in soils may occur by natural attenuation or by engineered techniques, such as biostimulation and bioaugmentation. The present study evaluated the degradation of biodiesel in two soils with different particle size characteristics by the bioremediation processes of natural attenuation and biostimulation. The experiment was carried out ex situ, with the factors temperature, moisture content, and pH being controlled for the experimental period of 110 days. The study aimed at evaluating the biodegradation of a clayey soil （A） and a sandy soil （B）, both contaminated with pure biodiesel, by using the analytical methods of respirometry and gas chromatography. Biostimulation treatments using nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium solutions （NPK） promoted higher microbiological activity in both soils. At the end of the experiment, it was observed that biostimulation was more efficient when compared to natural attenuation, showing higher biodiesel degradation for both soils A （59.76%） and B （90.41%）.
