Content-based medical image retrieval(CBMIR)is a technique for retrieving medical images based on automatically derived image *** are many applications of CBMIR,such as teaching,research,diagnosis and electronic patient *** methods are applied to enhance the retrieval performance of CBMIR *** new and effective similarity measure and features fusion methods are two of the most powerful and effective strategies for improving these *** study proposes the relative difference-based similarity measure(RDBSM)for *** new measure was first used in the similarity calculation stage for the CBMIR using an unweighted fusion method of traditional color and texture ***,the study also proposes a weighted fusion method for medical image features extracted using pre-trained convolutional neural networks(CNNs)*** proposed RDBSM has outperformed the standard well-known similarity and distance measures using two popular medical image datasets,Kvasir and PH2,in terms of recall and precision retrieval *** effectiveness and quality of our proposed similarity measure are also proved using a significant test and statistical confidence bound.

Investigation on Preparation and Fluorescence Properties of Oxy-Fluoride Glass Co-Doped with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+)

The glass sample based on the composition of 45PbF_2-45GeO_2-10WO_3 co-doped with Yb^(3+)/Er^(3+) was prepared by the fusion method in two steps: melted at 950 ℃ for 20～25 min then annealed at 380 ℃ for 4 h. Through the V-prism it is found that the refractive index of host glass and the sample are 1.517 and 1.65 respectively. The transmittance was observed by using the ultraviolet-visible-infrared spectrometer in the wavelength range from 0.35 to 2.5μm. The transmittance of the host glass is beyond 73%. That of the sample is beyond 50% and there are characteristic absorption peaks of rare-earth ions. The emission spectrum was measured by using the Hitachi F-4500 fluorescent spectrometer pumped by 980 nm semiconductor laser. There are a strong emission peak at 530 nm and a weak peak at 650 nm.

In the process of low voltage current transformer surface crack detection, aimed at the problem of inaccurate edge localization of penetration algorithm and poor crack connectivity detected by adaptive Canny algorithm, this paper proposes a new crack detection method based on the fusion of percolation algorithm and adaptive Canny operator. The crack gray-scale image is processed by the percolation algorithm to get binary image of crack and this binary image is named Image-A, while the crack gray-scale image is also processed by the adaptive Canny operator to get binary image of crack and this binary image is named Image-B. Using wavelet transform to extract low-frequency and high-frequency components of Image-A and Image-B, and the low frequency and high frequency components of the two binary images are respectively superposed. The superposed low frequency and high frequency images are inverse transformed to obtain a fusion image. The fused image is the final cracked image. Experimental results show that the edge information extracted by the proposed algorithm is more abundant than the penetration algorithm, and the continuity of the crack is better than the adaptive Canny algorithm and the unilateral detection is reduced. The new crack detection algorithm combines the strong continuity of penetration algorithm with the accurate edge localization ability of adaptive Canny algorithm, which is a more effective method of crack detection.

Improvement of the dissolution rate of silymarin by means of solid dispersions

Solid dispersions of silymarin were prepared by the fusion method with the intention of improving the dissolution properties of silymarin. Polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000) was used as the inert hydrophilic matrix. The dissolution studies of the solid dispersions were performed in vitro. And the results obtained showed that the dissolution rate of silymarin was considerably improved when formulated in solid dispersions with PEG 6000 as compared to original drug, and the increased dissolution rate might be favorable for further oral absorption.
