Dynamic free-spectral-range Measurement for Fiber Resonator Based on Digital-Heterodyne Optical Phase-Locked Loop

We propose a novel scheme, based on digital-heterodyne optical phase-locked loop with whole-fiber circuit, to dynamically measure the free-spectral-range of a fiber resonator. The optical phase-locked loop is established with a differential frequency-modulation module consists of a pair of acousto-optic modulators. The resonance-tracking loop is derived with the Pound-Drever-Hall technique for locking the heterodyne frequency of the OPLL on the frequency difference between adjacent resonance modes. A stable locking accuracy of about 7 × 10?9 and a dynamic locking accuracy of about 5 × 10?8 are achieved with the FSR of 8.155 MHz, indicating a bias stability of the resonator fiber optic gyro of about 0.1?/h with 10 Hz bandwidth. In addition, the thermal drift coefficient of the FSR is measured as 0.1 Hz/?C. This shows remarkable potential for realizing advanced optical measurement systems, such as the resonant fiber optic gyro, and so on.

Kerr frequency comb with varying FSR spacing based on Si3N4 micro-resonator

In this paper, we experimentally investigate a novel feedback loop scheme to generate optical frequency comb with varying free spectral range（FSR） spacing in a high-Q silicon nitride（Si3N4） micro-ring resonator. By selecting and amplifying different feedback sidebands, comb line spacing varying from 1-fold to 6-fold FSRs is successfully achieved. This approach could be beneficial to tune the comb repetition rate which is an important parameter for many applications, such as optical coherent communications, optical metrology and arbitrary waveform generation.

A Novel Analysis Approach for Ring-resonator Performance as Optical Filter

A novel attempt has been made in this paper for a different approach for determination of ring resonator transmittance with the help of delay line signal processing techniques and Totally Coded Method(TCM).A generalized approach for determination of transfer function in Z-domain of optical waveguide based ring resonator is *** line signal processing technique is used to develop the signal flow graph of different ring resonator architectures,and a rule is implemented to determine its overall *** parameters describing the performance of optical filter can be directly estimated from the frequency response plot.A waveguide based double ring resonator(DRR) architecture is proposed,and its frequency response analysis is carried out.
