Simultaneous multi-channel RZ-OOK/DPSK to NRZ-OOK/DPSK format conversion based on integrated delay interferometers and arrayed-waveguide grating

format conversion is enabling function at the interface of different networks with different optimal modulation formats.Meanwhile,multi-channel signal processing function has its special significance for dense wavelength division multiplexing networks.In this paper,we designed and fabricated a delay interferometer cascaded with an arrayed-waveguide grating based on silicon on insulator.The 4-channel return-to-zero on-off keying(RZ-OOK) to non-return-to-zero on-off keying(NRZ-OOK) and return-to-zero differential phase shift keying(RZ-DPSK) to non-return-to-zero differential phase shift keying(NRZ-DPSK) format conversions at 40 Gbit/s were realized with this integrated device,the output eye diagrams showed a good conversion performance.Thanks to the mature fabrication technology,this device shows great potential for its small size,low power consumption and possibility of monolithic integration.

Linear optical signal processing with optical filters： a tutorial

An effective theoretical analysis method is presented to analyze different linear optical signal processing functions with optical fikers reported in literatures. For different applications, the optical filters are supposed to operate on the analog or digital part of the signal separately, namely analog spectrum conversion and digital spectrum conversion. For instance, the return-to-zero （RZ） to non-return-to-zero （NRZ） format conversion for intensity or phase modulated signals are based on the analog spectrum conversion process, while the （N）RZ to （N）RZ phase-shift-keying （PSK） format conversion, logic NOT gate and clock recovery for RZ signals are based on the digital spectrum conversion process. Theoretical analyses with the help of numerical simulation are used to verify the reported experimental results, and all the experimental results can be effectively analyzed with this analytical model. The effect of the transmission spectrum of the filter on the performance of the converted signal is investigated. The most important factor is that the theoretical analysis provides an effective way to optimize the optical filter for different optical signal processing functions.

Digitization and DICOM Standardization of X-ray Image Signal

Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) has played an important role in hospital and developed rapidly in recent years. It is an important part of PACS architecture that X-ray video output connects with PACS. In this paper, a method to digitize the video signals of X-ray facility is introduced. By means of the video capture card, we can acquire digital medical images from X-ray facility. The American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) developed a standard for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), this DICOM standard introduces a rule of medical image conversion from conventional format to DICOM one. According to abovementioned standard, X-ray video signals can be connected to PACS easily. This project has been applied in some hospitals successfully and there is satisfied result.
