forest fire is a major cause of changes in forest structure and function. Among various floristic regions, the northeast region of India suffers maximum from the fires due to age-old practice of shifting cultivation and spread of fires from jhum fields. For proper mitigation and management, an early warning of forest fires through risk modeling is required. The study results demonstrate the potential use of remote sensing and Geographic Information System （GIS） in identifying forest fire prone areas in Manipur, southeastern part of Northeast India. Land use land cover （LULC）, vegetation type, Digital elevation model （DEM）, slope, aspect and proximity to roads and settlements, factors that influence the behavior of fire, were used to model the forest fire risk zones. Each class of the layers was given weight according to their fire inducing capability and their sensitivity to fire. Weighted sum modeling and ISODATA clustering was used to classify the fire zones. TO validate the results, Along Track Scanning Radiometer （ATSR）, the historical fire hotspots data was used to check the occurrence points and modeled forest fire locations. The forest risk zone map has 55-63% of agreement with ATSR dataset.

Introduction:The study was conducted in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve,in the Western Ghats to understand the effect of a single fire event on tree diversity and regeneration *** forest patches were selected which were unburned,2-year-old burn,5-year-old burn,and 15-year-old *** 0.1 ha square plots were laid randomly in all four patches and analyzed for tree diversity,stand structure,and regeneration of tree ***:A total of 4129 individuals of tree species were recorded in field surveys,comprising 3474 seedlings,121 saplings,and 534 ***,40 tree species were recorded in study plots,from which 28 species were seedlings,16 species were saplings,and 37 species were at tree ***:Tree diversity decreased in 2-year-old and 5-year-old burnt plots and was reached to the level of unburnt plots in 15 years of *** of small size classes started increasing after the *** density increased linearly in subsequent years after fire but sapling and tree density recorded less than control in B2 but was higher in B5 and *** overall fire affected diversity,but regeneration showed a positive trend.

forest fire is one of the major causes of forest loss and therefore one of the main constraints for sustainable forest management *** the driving factors and understanding the contribution of each factor are essential for the management of forest fire *** objective of this study is to identify variables that are spatially related to the occurrence and incidence of the forest fire in the State of Durango,*** this purpose,data from forest fire records for a five-year period were *** spatial correlations between forest fire occurrence and intensity of land use,susceptibility of vegetation,temperature,precipitation and slope were tested by Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR) method,under an Ordinary Least Square *** show that the spatial pattern of the forest fire in the study area is closely correlated with the intensity of land use,and land use change is one of the main explanatory *** addition,vegetation type and precipitation are also the main driving *** fitting model indicates obvious link between the *** fire was found to be the consequence of a particular combination of the environmental factors,and when these factors coexist with human activities,there is high probability of forest fire *** regulation of human activities is a key strategy for forest fire prevention.

Introduction:The Canadian forest fire Danger Rating System(CFFDRS)is a globally known wildland fire risk assessment system,and two major components,the fire weather index system and the fire behavior prediction system,have been extensively used both nationally and internationally to aid operational wildland fire decision ***:In this paper,we present an overview of an R package cffdrs,which is developed to calculate components of the CFFDRS,and highlight some of its *** particular,we demonstrate how these functions could be used for large data *** and Discussion:With this cffdrs package,we provide a portal for not only a collection of R functions dealing with all available components in CFFDRS but also a platform for various additional developments that are useful for the understanding of fire occurrence and *** is the first time that all relevant CFFDRS methods are incorporated into the same platform,which can be accessed by both the management and research communities.

Background:forest fire incidences in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand,India are very common in *** and oak are the principal and dominant species of Himalayan subtropical forest and Himalayan temperate forest,*** vegetation influences the physicochemical and biological properties of soil and forest fire in pine and oak forests may have a different effect on the physicochemical and biological properties of ***,the present study was carried out to assess the impact of forest fire on soil microbial properties,enzymatic activity,and their relationship with soil physicochemical properties in the advent of forest fire in the pine and oak forests of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand Himalaya,***:The soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen,soil basal respiration,and acid phosphatase activity decreased,whereas dehydrogenase activity increased at burnt sites of both forest *** overall change in soil microbial biomass carbon was 63 and 40%at the burnt oak forest and burnt pine forest,*** activity and acid phosphatase activity showed a strong positive correlation with soil organic matter(r=0.8)and microbial indices,*** ratio of soil microbial biomass carbon/nitrogen was reduced at burnt sites of both forest *** analysis results showed that fire had a significant impact on soil *** soil basal respiration was linked with macro-and micronutrients at burnt sites,whereas at control sites,it was linked with physicochemical properties of soil along with ***:forest fire had a significant impact on soil properties of both forest *** impact of forest fire on soil microbial biomass carbon was stronger in the oak forest than in the pine *** type influenced soil enzymatic activity at burnt *** bacterial community was dominated over fungi in burnt sites of both *** microbial indices can be used as a selective measure to assess

Virtual representation and simulation of spatio-temporal phenomena is a promising goal for the production of an advanced digital *** modeling,which is one of the most helpful analyses in the geographic information system(GIS),plays a prominent role in meeting this *** study proposes a new model that considers both aspects of static and dynamic behaviors of spreadable spatio-temporal in cellular automata(CA)***,artificial intelligence tools such as adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)and genetic algorithm(GA)were used in accordance with the objectives of knowledge discovery and *** conditions in updating states are considered so traditional CA transition rules can be accompanied with the impact of fuzzy discovered knowledge and the solution of spread *** focused on the estimation of forest fire growth as an important case study for decision makers.A two-dimensional cellular representation of the combustion of heterogeneous fuel types and density on non-flat terrain were successfully linked with dynamic wind and slope *** validation of the simulation on experimental data indicated a relatively realistic head-fire *** investigations showed that the results obtained using the dynamic controlling with GA in the absence of static modeling with ANFIS were unacceptable.

Based on the data obtained by single watershed experiment, the changes in streamnow by forest fire had been studied. The results showed the most forest fire in Daxing'an Mountains in 1987 resulted in the increase of annual runoff in the mitial stage, snowmelt runoff reduced in MayThe relationship between precipitation and streamflow was closed. The changes in streainnow relied more on the precipitation.

forest fires occurrence is influenced by many factors, such as inter-annual weather variations and regional fuel distributions. fires occurrence in different forest region has distinct spatial and temporal characteristics. The paper studied the natural forest fire environment in Northeastern China, as well as forest fires occurrence, burned area and fire seasons in Northeastern forest Region. The result shows that more than 50% of annual burned area occurred in Northeast China forest Region. Main fire seasons in the region are spring and autumn. fires occurrence in spring is larger than that in autumn. There are few fires in summer. The authors' suggestions for fire management department are to emphasize the fuel management, improve the roads conditions, and enhance the fires control ability.
