Suicide cases are often encountered during death investigations in forensic *** this study,through a comparative analysis of our own data of 98 suicide cases and previous reports from various forensic institutions in China,we analyzed the risk factors of Chinese suicides and explored the implications thereof from a forensic point of ***,the age and sex differences,means,causes,and other concerns regarding suicide are discussed along with a review of the literature.

Troponin is used as the part of today's therapeutic sciences,but is also used in *** on troponin and its use in forensic medicine have been retrieved from systematic internet search of databases"PubMed","Google Scholar","Medline,"and"Science Direct"with the last search performed in December 2019.A total of 38 publications have been reviewed that met the study criteria and have been cited in this *** on troponin often relate to its valuable attributes and particularly to its handiness as a diagnostic marker for different coronary heart *** specifically,it is a sensitive and specific indicators of damage to the heart muscle(myocardium)."Troponin was established in toxicological examinations as a biomarker of cardiovascular injury induced by *** degrades in a regular and predictable fashion and could be a reliable marker for determining the time and cause of *** this review,the author outlines the potential application of troponin in forensic science.

Evaluation of Medical Malpractice Litigations in China, 2002–2011

In the past 10 years,medical malpractice litigations have become a serious public health and social issues in *** study aims to evaluate the medical malpractice litigations in Beijing.A retrospective study was conducted using the database from the Key Laboratory of Evidence Science(KLES)at China University of Political Science and Law(CUPL)to demonstrate the extent and characteristics of the alleged medical malpractice cases and the conclusions of forensic evaluation from 2002 to 2011 in Beijing.A total of 1515 alleged medical malpractice cases were investigated by forensic medical experts at KLES‑CUPL during the study *** the 1515 cases,45.2%were male patients and 54.8%were female *** age of the patients ranged from newborn to 90 years,with average age of 44 *** alleged medical malpractice cases involved 11.3%of *** 2002 to 2006,the average number of medical malpractice litigations was 123 cases per year,while from 2007 to 2011,the average number of medical malpractice litigations was 180 per year,a 46%*** the 1515 cases,588(38.8%)litigations were due to the patients’*** departments involved in claims most often were obstetrics(18.9%),followed by orthopedics(15.1%)and general surgery(11.5%).Medical error was found in 945(62.4%)*** the 945 confirmed medical malpractice cases,the top medical misadventures were diagnostic errors(36.5%),improper performance of procedures(36.4%),and medication error(12.6%).Although tertiary hospitals were more likely to be sued than the secondary and primary hospitals(63.6%vs.36.4%),there was no significant difference between tertiary and secondary hospitals in the percentage of confirmed malpractice cases(62.3%vs.59.4%).The primary hospitals had the highest confirmed malpractice cases(73.2%).

Time Course of Histomorphologic Features during Chronic Burn Wound Healing

In forensic pathology, it is always indispensable to determine burn wound vitality or age to accurately assess the relationship between death and any burn wounds. Subsequently, the determination of wound age is a definitive and still cutting-edge subject in forensic pathology. Therefore, deep second-degree burn injuries were induced in a group of mice. At 7, 12, 17, 21 and 28 days post-burn, burn wound specimens were histomorphologically differentiated and compared with normal intact skin using H&E stain. The study revealed that the burn wound during healing process was usually incorporated of infiltration of inflammatory cells, granulation tissue formation and epithelialization within 7 - 12 days post-burn. Then, the surface of burn wound was partially ulcerated in association with epidermal necrosis, dermal disorganization and degeneration of the sebaceous gland 17 - 21 days post-burn. Finally, the regenerated skin retained the structure of normal skin at 28th day post-burn. Our study demonstrated that the histopathological changes of burn wounds involved deep dermis, and the pathological changes occurred at distinctive time phases were almost different in comparing to regular intact skin. Such age estimation of burn wounds is important when a cadaver or a burnt body has many burns of diverse times, especially in criminal cases.

Evaluation of the Early Age Married Girls Applying to Our Department

Underage marriages are going on to keep their commonness in countries such as Turkey although frequencies of them are decreasing in the world. According to the law, marriages before eighteen years old are also defined as early marriages. Being married of girls at early ages makes these children deprived from education life and their vicinity. Therefore severe psychological difficulties occur in these children. In this study, 19 girls, who were being married at early ages and psychologically examined between January 1st, 2013-April 1st, 2015 in physical and mental health committee of the Dicle University, Medical Faculty, were taken to evaluate. These 19 cases were retrospectively assessed in sociodemographic data (age, education level, and relative degrees), type of marriage, state of mind, forensic reports and files. Of 410 cases, who admitted to our mental and physical committee, 19 (4.6%) were at the category of early age marriage. These 19 cases range between 13 and 17 years of age. Three of them (15.8%) were thinking of suicide and one of them (5.3%) attempted suicide. At least, one mental disorder was diagnosed in 8 (42.1%) of the cases and the most common diagnose was acute stress disorder in four (21.1%) cases. It has been stated that marriages at early ages are caused by economic and cultural reasons. As conclusion, being married of children at early ages is an important risk factor in social and mental health.

Establishment of a blunt impact-induced brain injury model in rabbits

Objective： To establish an animal model to replicate the blunt impact brain injury in forensic medicine. Methods： Twenty-four New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into control group （n=4）, minor injury group （n：10） and severe injury group （n=10）. Based on the BIM- II Horizontal Bio-impact Machine, self-designed iron bar was used to produce blunt brain injury. Two rabbits from each injury group were randomly selected to monitor the change ofintracranial pressure （ICP） during the impact- ing process by pressure microsensors. Six hours after injury, all the rabbits were dissected to observe the injury mor- phology and underwent routine pathological examination. Results： Varying degrees of nervous system positive signs were observed in all the injured rabbits. Within 6 hours, the mortality rate was 1/10 in the minor injury group and 6/10 in the severe injury group. Morphological changes con-sisted of different levels of scalp hematoma, skull fracture, epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hemo- rrhage and brain injury. At the moment of hitting, the ICP was greater in severe injury group than in mild injury group; and within the same group, the impact side showed positive pressure while the opposite side showed negative pressure. Conclusions： Under the rigidly-controlled experimental condition, this animal model has a good reproducibility and stable results. Meanwhile, it is able to simulate the morphology of iron strike-induced injury, thus can be used to study the mechanism of blunt head injury in forensic medicine.

[Abstract] Objective： By studying the mode and morphologic character of high fall injuries on the scene, and exploring the injury situation of different heights, different fall ways and postures, to provide a reference for the foren- sic identification of high fall injury. Methods： All the high fall cases were statistically analysed according to their gender, age, ground-touching posture, fall height, site and type of the injury. Results： Among 134 high fall cases, 98 were male and 36 were female with the age ranging from 2-71 years （37.6 ＋16.9 on average）, in which, 10-60 years old group con- sisted of 110 cases （82%）. Most cases fell from windows orroofs （73%） and the touching objects were cement ground or shaft bottom of elevators. Among these cases, head injury was generally serious, followed by chest and abdominal injuries. The morphologic changes depend upon the height, nature, as well as the posture at the point while the body touches the ground. Conclusion： Morphologic study of high fall injury assists medicolegal physicians to make correct identifica- tions of the cause and nature of high fall injuries.
