Spin-based interdisciplinary research has attracted considerable attention,and various applications in magnetic memory,quantum science,and precision measuring technology have been reported.In this study,we induced a fluorescence property in a spin-active molecule by supramolecular assembly and realized a synergistic modulation of its spin and fluorescence properties.A Saturn-shaped supramolecular complex was synthesized using a spin-active metallofullerene Sc_(3)C_(2)@C80 with a fluorescent nanohoop of tetra-benzothiadiazole-based[12]cycloparaphenylene(TB[12]CPP),and its spin and fluorescence properties were comprehensively investigated.Temperature-dependent electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectroscopy and fluorescence analyses were conducted.Synchronous changes in the EPR signals and fluorescence peaks were discovered in the temperature range of 170–290 K.Based on nuclear magnetic resonance observations and theoretical calculations,a temperature-dependent host–guest interaction between Sc_(3)C_(2)@C_(80)and a nanohoop was demonstrated,which explained the synchronous changes in the EPR signals and fluorescence peaks for Sc_(3)C_(2)@C_(80)⊂TB[12]CPP.The application of Sc_(3)C_(2)@C_(80)as a molecular spin system to probe the host–guest interaction was also evaluated.These results show that the supramolecular assembly can be used to design advanced spin systems coupled with optical and magnetic behaviors based on paramagnetic and luminescent molecules.

Taking apart in numerous physiological and pathological activities,hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)has been selected as an excellent target spot for the early diagnosis of cancer.So far,there are many mature probes that apply single optical imaging to monitor endogenous H_(2)S.Nevertheless,a single modality is not an ideal method to afford accurate diagnostic information in comprehensive biological organisms.Herein,we developed a dual-modal imaging probe BWS.This designed probe showed a specific response to H_(2)S with both chemiluminescence and NIR fluorescence light-up.The concurrence of fluorescence and chemiluminescence signal provided“double insurances”for highly accurate monitoring of H_(2)S.Satisfactorily,this dual-modal imaging probe performed precise visualization of endogenous H_(2)S in living cells and in vivo.We envisaged that this chemiluminescence/fluorescence real-time dual-modality strategy for H_(2)S detection will expand and optimize the multimodal imaging methods for efficient diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Facile strategy enabling the fabrication of carbon dots(CDs)with favorable performance useful for various applications is highly desirable.Here,we report the fabrication of highly fluorescent carbon dots(CDs)towards sensitive metal ion detection,brightly fluorescent printing pattern,as well as green flame retardants for synthetic polymeric materials.CDs are synthesized by solvothermal treatment of polypropylene carbonate(PPC)with ethylenediamine,and the quantum yield of CDs could increase from 30%to 86%by further adding trace of citric acid.The abundant functional groups on the surface of CDs allow CDs well incorporated into polymers to form CD-loaded polystyrene(PS)microspheres,which are employed to construct fluorescent supraballs via triphase microfluidic technique and used as“inks”for uniform fluorescent patterns.Interestingly,the resultant CDs show good flame retardancy for highly flammable polymeric foams and fibers.The CDs surpass previously reported flame-retardant additives,to show excellent combustion resistance that the addition of 20 wt%CDs causes 75%decrease in the peak of heat release rate(P-HRR)for polyurethane(PU)foams.Significantly,a molecular dynamics simulation process for PU/CDs combustion is constructed.This work may spur the preparation and application of highperformance carbon-based nanomaterials.

Eu^(3+) ions were grafted onto the surface of electrospun polyacrylonitrile(PAN)nanofibers through coordination effect between C≡N groups on PAN nanofibers and Eu^(3+) ions,and benzoic acid(BA)was introduced as an assistant ligand.The impacts of concentrations of Eu^(3+) ions and BA,and reaction time on the properties of final products were investigated.The results reveal that Eu^(3+) ions can be successfully grafted onto PAN nanofibers,but the fluorescence intensity of the obtained PAN@Eu^(3+) nanofibers is very weak.After BA is introduced as the assistant ligand,the fluorescence intensity of the obtained PAN@(Eu^(3+)/BA)nanofibers is greatly stronger than that of PAN@Eu^(3+)nanofibers,and meanwhile,concentration quenching effect of Eu^(3+) ions can be effectively restrained.Furthermore,the superior structure of PAN@(Eu^(3+)/BA)nanofibers not only brings the effective utilization of precious elemental europium,but also guarantees high mechanical strength.

The accurate diagnosis of tumor at the early stage depends on efficient medical imaging methods using probes with high sensitivity to the environment of tumor cells.For this purpose,we design the Fe_(3)O_(4)-rhodamine 6 G(Rh6G)nanoparticles(NPs)as a kind of dual-mode probe for fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).The Fe_(3)O_(4)-Rh6G NPs are demonstrated to be Fe^(3+)enhanced and pH-sensitive fluorescent agents,and the strongest fluorescence performance occurs under the pH value of 3.Cyto-toxicity assessment in HeLa cells proves the good biocompatibility and low toxicity of the Fe_(3)O_(4)-Rh6G NPs.The consequent fluorescence experiments in tumor cells show good imaging contrast,which is con-tributed by both the Fe^(3+)released from Fe_(3)O_(4)and the acid environment of tumor cells.Moreover,the Fe_(3)O_(4)-Rh6G NPs are superparamagnetic and have a strong MRI T 2 contrast effect.According to the per-formance in fluorescence and MRI tests,the Fe_(3)O_(4)-Rh6G NPs are potential dual-mode probes for MRI contrast agents and fluorescence probes with high biocompatibility for early-stage tumor detection.

Near infrared fluorescence using indocyanine green is beneficial for visual assessment of blood vessels,blood flow,and tissue perfusion,sentinel lymph node biopsy,lymph node road mapping,identification of the vascular system round the major vessels,and the detection of ureters in order to reduce the risk of iatrogenic ureteral lesions in colorectal surgery.

Applying indocyanine green(ICG)fluorescence in surgery has created a new dimension of navigation surgery to advance in various disciplines.The research in this field is nascent and fragmented,necessitating academic efforts to gain a comprehensive understanding.The present review aims to integrate diverse perspectives and recent advances in its application in gastrointestinal surgery.The relevant articles were selected by using the appropriate keyword search in PubMed.The angiography and cholangiography property of ICG fluorescence is helpful in various hepatobiliary disorders.In gastroesophageal and colorectal surgery,the lymphangiography and angiography property of ICG is applied to evaluate bowel vascularity and guide lymphadenectomy.The lack of objective parameters to assess ICG fluorescence has been the primary limitation when ICG is used to evaluate bowel perfusion.The optimum dose and timing of ICG administration need to be standardized in some new application areas in gastrointestinal surgery.Binding tumor-specific ligands with fluorophores can potentially widen the fluorescence application to detect primary and metastatic gastrointestinal tumors.The narrative review outlines prior contributions,limitations,and research opportunities for future studies across gastrointestinal sub-specialty.The findings of the present review would be helpful for scholars and practitioners to explore and progress in this exciting domain of gastrointestinal surgery.

Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)plays a crucial role in many biochemical reactions in human metabolism.In this work,a flow-mediated skin fluorescence(FMSF)-postocclusion reactive hyperaemia(PORH)system was developed for noninvasive and in vivo measurement of NADH fluorescence and its real-time dynamical changes in human skin tissue.The real-time dynamical changes of NADH fluorescence were analyzed with the changes of skin blood flow measured by laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI)experiments simultaneously with FMSFPORH measurements,which suggests that the dynamical changes of NADH fluorescence would be mainly correlated with the intrinsic changes of NADH level in the skin tissue.In addition,Monte Carlo simulations were applied to understand the impact of optical property changes on the dynamical changes of NADH fluorescence during the PORH process,which further supports that the dynamical changes of NADH fluorescence measured in our system would be intrinsic changes of NADH level in the skin tissue.

The employing of organophosphorus pesticides(OPs),especially,the abusing of OPs,leads to residue accumulation,which causes immense effect to human health and environment.So,it is an urgent task to develop highly sensitive OPs’detection platforms.A novel enzyme modulated fluorescence-on sensor for sensitive detection of omethoate was successfully constructed,using AT-rich double-stranded DNA(dsDNA)templated copper nanoparticles(CuNPs)as the fluorescent signal and covalently combined magnetic Fe_(3)O_(4)and graphene oxide(GO)as the single-stranded DNA(ssDNA)adsorbent.The assay just associates acetylcholinesterase(AChE),one strand of dsDNA,acetylcholinein(ATCh),Fe_(3)O_(4)@GO and ascorbic acid(AA)/Cu^(2+).T6-1 and T6-2 are two strands single-stranded DNA(ssDNA)with the AT-rich sequence and continuous T bases at their two ends,respectively.In the aid of Hg^(^(2+)),they can hybridize into a blunt-ended dsDNA with one AT-rich end and one T-Hg^(^(2+))-T base pairs end.Once omethoate exists,it can inhibit AChE from transducing acetylcholinein(ATCh)into thiocholine(TCh).So,no TCh can snatch Hg^(^(2+))from T-Hg^(^(2+))-T base pairs in blunt-ended T6-1/T6-2.T6-1/T6-2 still keeps its integrity in blunt-ended dsDNA configuration,and hence the subsequently added Fe_(3)O_(4)@GO cannot absorb it.The remained blunt-ended T6-1/T6-2 in supernatant can act as the template of CuNPs to produce strong luminescence.The developed detection offers a signal-on omethoate detection,which can sensitively detect omethoate in the linear range of 5-200 nmol/L with a detection limit of 2.48 nmol/L.More importantly,it can detect omethoate in food and environmental samples,demonstrating high potential in real sample detection.
