The stochastic transport driven by flashing multi-noise sources in a ratchet is studied. The stationary current versus the noise strength and the colored noise correlated time T is obtained . At a fixed flip rate and strength of the colored noises, the novel phenomenon of the current reversal occurs as T reaches a certain value. More than one reversal point exists when

Ocular toxoplasmosis in Iran:40 cases analysis

·AIM:To report ocular symptoms,funduscopic findings and demographic distribution of ocular toxoplasmosis in Iran·METHODS:In this cross-sectional study,a total of 40 patients with ocular toxoplasmosis (24 female,16 male) were *** distribution of symptoms and funduscopic findings were studied.·RESULTS:The patients’ age was in the range of 13-52 with the most common age of 19 years ***-four patients were female (60.0%).The most common presenting sign was visual *** was anterior chamber (AC) inflammation in 23 patients (57.5%).Vitritis was presented in 36 patients (90.0%).In 35 patients (87.5%),the retinal lesion was *** patients with peripheral lesion,3 patients (60.0%) had flashing vs 12.5% chance of flashing in all *** patients had larger lesion (P =0.04).·CONCLUSION:Ocular toxoplasmosis substantially varies among patients with different age,gender,status of immunity,site of lesion and other undetermined *** of ocular symptoms,flashing,may necessitate a more precise peripheral fundus examination.·

Cause Analysis for Wall Thinning of Small-Bore Piping in Nuclear Power Plant by ToSPACE, FLUENT and Theoretical Evaluation

It has been known that FAC, LDIE, cavitation and flashing are the damage mechanisms that can cause the pipe thickness of the secondary system of nuclear power plants thinner. Severe wall thinning was found in the MSR drain pipes at a Korean nuclear power plant a decade ago, and all the affected pipes were replaced with low alloy steel with higher chromium contents. Therefore, this study was conducted to reduce the possibility of similar thinning cases that may occur in the future by identifying the exact cause of thinning. ToSPACE and FLUENT codes and theoretical evaluation method were applied to analyze the causes of thinning. ToSPACE and FLUENT analyses and theoretical evaluation including all the operating conditions show a relatively large pressure drop and a pressure lower than the saturated vapor pressure in common at the end of the pipe entering the condenser. This means that flashing occurs at the end of the pipe under all operating conditions, and the effect can be greater than that of other parts. As a result, since severe wall thinning occurred at the end of the pipeline entering the condenser, it was evaluated that flashing by the high-velocity two-phase fluid was the direct cause of the wall thinning in the MSR drain pipes. The results of this study will contribute to establishing appropriate countermeasures in the event of pipe wall thinning in the future.

Photo-stimulation effect on the human EEG alpha-wave spectrum

The EEG α wave mode shows chaotic characters and the frequency spectrum is entrained to the external photo-stimulation peak. This effect was observed exceedingly in the photo-sensitive children as compared with the normal adults. The α spectrum shows asymmetric components with lower frequency-side tail. This spectrum shape could be realized from the computation in terms of the McCulloch-Pitts model and presented in comparison with the observed result. From this analysis, it turns out that the frequency spectrum analysis is most essential for the investigation of the EEG characteristics in comparison with simple waveform inspections in the time-passage. When light flashing frequencies come close to the alpha peak, the both peaks are fused in a giant single peak. These phenomena cannot be understood by the simple mechanical resonant theory but as discussed from the viewpoint of the soft chaotic dynamics of the neural network. Here the both peak intensities Iα and Iex are investigated under different conditions of ωex ωα, and ωα ωex, and it is shown that the entrainment effect is remarkably different in both cases. This result can be understood from the relating neuronal numbers and discussed.
