Fitting of Continuous Line Segments with Arc Paths

Prosthetic modeling for femoral head based on ellipsoid fitting

In this paper, we propose a half-constraint least squares algorithm to fit the continuous line segments with arc paths. In particular, we develop a method to calculate the nodes, with which the fitting algorithm is more robust against the noise and the arc path contains more arcs. Moreover, the tolerance of the first-order derivative is considered for the nodes, so that the arc path becomes smoother. Numerical simulations and experiments are conducted to verify the validity of the proposed method and to show the improved performance in the sense of high precision.

A novel modeling method which can restore the shape of the femoral head with collapse induced by ischemic necrosis is proposed. First, sequential tomograms of the hip are obtained from a CT scan; secondly, an accurate and automatic method is used to extract the profile of the acetabulum; thirdly, a hybrid method is utilized to gather fiducial marks on the acetabulum; fourthly, bulky error sampling points are removed. Finally, an ellipsoid fitting method is used to fit the ellipsoid model of the femoral head. Two male sufferers with different necrosis extents are chosen as experimental subjects for contrastive simulation. Fifty cases of different ages （from 25 to 79 years old） are utilized for statistical comparisons of matching errors. The prosthetic models highly resemble the primary shape of the femoral head in health. This new method provides not only a theoretical model for accurate operation position fixing in an orthopaedics clinic, but it is also an innovative practical means for the individual manufacture of artificial femoral heads.

This paper presents an image processing design flow for virtual fitting room (VFR) applications, targeting both personal computers and mobile devices. The proposed human friendly interface is implemented by a three-stage algorithm: Detection and sizing of the user's body, detection of reference points based on face detection and augmented reality markers, and superimposition of the clothing over the user's image. Compared to other existing VFR systems, key difference is the lack of any proprietary hardware components or peripherals. Proposed VFR is software based and designed to be universally compatible as long as the device has a camera. Furthermore, JAVA implementation on Android based mobile systems is computationally efficient and it can run in real-time on existing mobile devices.

Coal consumption curve of the thermal power plant can reflect the function relationship between the coal consumption of unit and load, which plays a key role for research on unit economic operation and load optimal dispatch. Now get coal consumption curve is generally obtained by least square method, but which are static curve and these curves remain unchanged for a long time, and make them are incompatible with the actual operation situation of the unit. Furthermore, coal consumption has the characteristics of typical nonlinear and time varying, sometimes the least square method does not work for nonlinear complex problems. For these problems, a method of coal consumption curve fitting of the thermal power plant units based on genetic algorithm is proposed. The residual analysis method is used for data detection;quadratic function is employed to the objective function;appropriate parameters such as initial population size, crossover rate and mutation rate are set;the unit’s actual coal consumption curves are fitted, and comparing the proposed method with least squares method, the results indicate that fitting effect of the former is better than the latter, and further indicate that the proposed method to do curve fitting can best approximate known data in a certain significance, and they can real-timely reflect the interdependence between power output and coal consumption.

In order to analysis the abnormal vehicle behavior by trajectory fitting effectively, the whole process is divided into three steps: target detection and tracking, vehicle trajectory analysis, vehicle behavior detection. Firstly, a three-frame-differencing method is used to achieve initial target location and an improved tracking algorithm based on Kalman predictor is proposed;then, an adaptive segmented linear fitting algorithm is proposed to achieve vehicle trajectory fitting;finally, two parameters including the rate of velocity variation and the rate of direction variation are used to establish vehicle abnormal behavior detection model. Experiment result shows that the three high dangerous vehicle behaviors in road surveillance videos can be detected effectively: sharp brake, sharp turn, and sharp turn brake.

A method of fitting to Mossbauer spectrum of 151Eu has been proposed. The intensities and the positions of all the possible transitions between the sublevels of the ground state and those of the excited state of nucleus with spin I> 3/2 can be considered at one time in fitting to experimental Mossbauer spectra by this method. The method has been used to fit to the experimental Mossbauer spectra of europium orthophosphate crystal and of europium pentaphosphate crystal, and to derive Mossbauer parameters from the experimental spectra. The method and the results have been discussed.
