Different n-6/n-3 PUFA diets with fish oil attenuated osteoarthritis in ovariectomized mice via targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome

Microencapsulation of fish oil by Simple Coacervation of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose

To improve the oxidative stability and application of fish oil, it was microencapsulated by simple coacervation followed by spray drying. Simple coacervation took place by adding malt dextrin into the emulsion of fish oil and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose （HPMC） solution. Influences of several process parameters on the microencapsulation were evaluated and the oxidative stability and microstructure of microcapsules were analyzed. Results showed that the coacervation could be observed only when dextrose equivalent value （DE value） of malt dextrin, concentration of HPMC solution and fish oil percentage in microcapsules were no more than 20. 5% and 40%, respectively. Moreover, microencapsulation efficiency was higher at HPMC solution concentration of 4% and fish oil percentage of less than 30%. The oxidative stability of fish oil was improved by the microencapsulation and done best in the ease of replacing malt dextrin by 40% with acacia. Scanning electronic microscopic photographs showed that the microcapsule obtained was a round, smooth and hollow microcapsule with its wall made up of innumerable small and solid submicrocapsules with the core of fish oil.

fish oil is a popular nutritional product consumed in China. The beneficial effects of fish oil have been attributed to docosahexaenoic acid(DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA). Hence, it is crucial to develop a rapid and precise method to determine the contents of EPA and DHA in fish oil. In this study, a rapid and accurate proton nuclear magnetic resonance method for the quantification of DHA and EPA was developed. Dimethyl terephthalate was selected as an internal standard, and the signals at 2.391 ppm for DHA and at 1.697 ppm for EPA were chosen for the quantification. Validation of the method was performed in terms of specificity, precision, and stability. The results indicated that the method was precise and in line with the China Food and Drug Administration guidance. The method has been successfully applied to characterize fish oil capsules obtained from four pharmaceutical companies. This study indicated that the rapid ~1H NMR method is suitable for the quality control of fish oil.

Impact of fish oil enriched total parenteral nutrition on elderly patients after colorectal cancer surgery

Discriminant analysis of terrestrial animal fat and oil adulteration in fish oil by infrared spectroscopy

In order to improve the effective utilization of animal fats and oils,and then ensure the feeding quality and safety in the field of animal husbandry engineering,the discriminant analysis of different species of terrestrial animal fats and oils in fish oil based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was explored in this ***-seven different species of animal fat and oil materials including fish oil,lard,chicken oil,tallow and suet were *** experimental calibration and validation samples were prepared by adulterating different proportions of terrestrial fat and oil in fish *** show that,it is easy to discriminate different species of raw material of fish oil,lard,chicken oil and ruminant fats based on the infrared spectral characteristics,while the distinction of tallow from suet samples is *** the adulterated samples with percentage range of 1%-60%(w/w),ideal results were obtained to discriminate the terrestrial fat and oil ingredients(lard,chicken oil,tallow and suet)in fish oil,the correct discriminant rates for the independent validation set were all higher than 95%.It was proved by further study that the detection limits for the discriminant analysis of lard,chicken oil,tallow and suet in fish oil were 0.8%,0.6%,2%and 3%,respectively.

We investigated the effects of fish oil on blood lipids and oxidative stress in the rat with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2 DM) and atherosclerosis(AS) through an animal experiment. Through the above research, we hope to provide a scientific basis to promote the use of fish oil in patients with T2 DM and AS to help slow the progression of AS. Methods We randomly selected 10 Wistar male rats as normal control group and fed them with normal chow. We fed the remaining rats with T2 DM high sugar and high fat diet. Except for the normal control group, we injected streptozotocin(STZ) intraperitoneally into the rest of the rats to construct the T2 DM model. After the successful establishment of the T2 DM model, we injected vitamin D3 intraperitoneally into the T2 DM rats and fed them with AS high fat diet to construct a T2 DM and AS model. After the successful establishment of the T2 DM and AS model, we started to intervene in rats with fish oil and simvastatin drugs. According to different models and intervention methods, we divided all rats into normal control group(CON), T2 DM and AS model control group(T2 DM&AS), low dose fish oil group(LFO), and medium dose fish oil group(MFO), high dose fish oil group(HFO), and simvastatin group(SIM). The LFO group, the MFO group and the HFO group were given fish oil by gavage at the daily doses of 250 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg and 750 mg/kg. The SIM group was given simvastatin by gavage at a daily dose of 10 mg/kg. During the experiment, we weighed the fasting body weight and measured the fasting blood glucose on a fixed day a week. After 12 weeks of intervention, we fasted all rats one night in advance but gave them water. After the rats were anesthetized, we took blood from the femoral artery and sacrificed them by dislocating the cervical spine. We isolated serum from blood. Effects of fish oil-containing nutrition supplementation in adult sepsis patients:a systematic review and meta-analysis

The aim of the work was to improve the healthy value of milk and cheese fatty acids (FA) by feeding a mix of crude soybean oil sediment (CSOS) combined with fish oil (FO) to grazing dairy cows. The CSOS is a by-product commonly discarded after oil extraction containing 3.3% moisture, 6% total ash and 70.7% oil, locally available, comparatively economic and easy to mix with other feed ingredients. The experiment lasted 55 days from September 30th to November 23th 2018 and was carried out at the dairy farm “Gacef” provider of milk to the dairy industrial plant “Capilla Del Señor” (CDS) located at the Villa María City, Córdoba Province, Argentine. A herd of 80 multiparous Holstein cows producing 24 kg-1 milk·cow-1·day-1 was used. The cows grazed an alfalfa and an oat pasture that represented about 47% of total dry matter (DM) intake supplemented at 8.5 kg DM·cow-1·day-1 with a total mixed ration (TMR) composed (DM basis) by cracked corn grain (35.18%), whole plant corn silage (31.98%), pelletized soyben meal (17.99%), the CSOS supplement (13.85%) and FO (0.99%). The TMR was supplied by halves after each milking time in groupal feeders yielding 1.4 kg·cow-1·day-1 of the CSOS and 0.1 kg·cow-1·day-1 of FO. Before the start of lipid supplementation, milk samples (5) were obtained from the farm-tank representing the standar or reference milk (Ref-Milk). After 21 days of supplementary lipid supply, additional milk samples (5) were obtained representing the modified milk (Mod-Milk). Milk samples were analyzed for chemical composition and milk FA profile. At each time, sufficient quantities of both (Ref- and Mod-Milk) were collected for manufacturing six types of cheeses.
