As energy crisis and environment pollution all around the world threaten the widespread use of fossil fuels,compressed natural gas(CNG)vehicles are explored as an alternative to the conventional gasoline powered *** of the limited space available for the car,the composite pressure vessel(TypeⅡ)has been applied to the CNG vehicles to reach large capacity and weight lightening *** pressure vessel(TypeⅡ)is composed of a composite layer and a metal *** metal liner is formed by the deep drawing and ironing(D.D.I.)process,which is a complex process of deep drawing and *** cylinder part is reinforced by composite layer wrapped through the filament winding process and is bonded to the liner by the curing *** this study,an integrated design method was presented by establishing the techniques for FE analysis of entire processes(D.D.I.,filament winding and curing processes)to manufacture the CNG composite pressure vessel(TypeⅡ).Dimensions of the dies and the punches of the 1 st(cup drawing),2 nd(redrawing-ironing 1-ironing 2)and 3 rd(redrawing-ironing)stages were calculated theoretically,and shape of tractrix die to be satisfied with the minimum forming load was suggested for life improvement and manufacturing costs in the *** of the composite material was determined in the filament winding process,finally,conditions of the curing process(number of heating stage,curing temperature,heating rate and time)were proposed to reinforce adhesive strength between the composite layers.

Diamond films were prepared by hot filament chemical vapor deposition(HFCVD) in a gas mixtures system of methane, argon and hydrogen. The composition and morphology in different deposition pressures and filament structures were investigated, as well as the friction and wear-resistant properties. The sp3-bonded content was measured and nano-mechanics properties were also tested. Results of atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy show that the diamond films whose surface roughness is less than 10 nm and sp3-bonded content is greater than 70% can be prepared by bistratal filament structure with optimized proportion of Ar. It is also shown that the friction coefficient of diamond films is 0.13 and its wear-resistant property is excellent. Nano-mechanics of films shows that its elastic modulus is up to 650 MPa and hardness can reach higher than 60 GPa. The diamond films with excellent performance have a broad application prospect in microelectromechanical systems(MEMS).

Auxin response factors (ARFs) play a central role in plants as transcriptional factors in response to auxin. The Arabidopsis ARF8 gene is a light-inducible gene and ARF8 protein might control auxin homeostasis in a negative feed-back fashion through regulation of GH3 gene expression. In a double mutant designated infertile line including arf8-1 (a T-DNA insertion mutant of ARF8), we isolated fertility1-1 (fer1-1), a mutant of Fer1, which acts synergistically with ARF8 to control the development of the anther and filament in Arabidopsis. Genetics analysis has demonstrated that fer 1-1 is a T-DNA insertion line, indicating that Fer1 might be cloned by inverse polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or the TAIL-PCR approach. Phenotypic identification and molecular analysis of fer 1-1 and the infertile line will be helpful to characterize the function of Fer1, to further study the function of ARF8, and to reveal the molecular mechanism underlying the interaction of Fer1 and ARF8 in controlling development of the anther and filament.

Fused filament fabrication (FFF) has been widely used to develop prototypes as well as functional parts owing to its capability for creating parts with complex geometries in a short time without the specific requirement of tooling. The mechanical properties of parts produced by FFF exhibit 70%-80% of the mechanical properties of parts produced by injection molding. The mechanical properties of FFF-produced parts are primarily dependent on the selection of various process variables. The mechanical properties of the part can be enhanced through the proper selection of process variables. In the present experimental investigation, the effects of the process variables, viz. raster angle, layer height, and raster width on the flexural properties of FFF-printed polylactic acid (PLA) is studied. The result shows that flexural strength is primarily influenced by layer height followed by raster angle. The sample printed with 100-μm layer height and 0° raster angle exhibits a higher tensile strength. Further, the microscopic examination of the deformed specimen is performed to understand the mode of failure. Specimens printed at different raster angles show different modes of failure.

Purpose:The aim of this study was to extend current half-sarcomere models by involving a recently found force-mediated activation of the thick filament and analyze the effect of this mechanosensing regulation on the length stability of half-sarcomeres arranged in ***:We included a super-relaxed state of myosin motors and its force-dependent activation in a conventional cross-bridge *** simulated active stretches of a sarcomere consisting of 2 non-uniform half-sarcomeres on the descending limb of the force-length ***:The mechanosensing model predicts that,in a passive sarcomere on the descending limb of the force-length relationship,the longer half-sarcomere has a higher fraction of myosin motors in the on-state than the shorter *** difference in the number of myosin motors in the on-state ensures that upon calcium-mediated thin filament activation,the force-dependent thick filament activation keeps differences in active force within 20%during an active *** the classical cross-bridge model,the corresponding difference exceeds 80%,leading to great length ***:Our simulations suggest that,in contrast to the classical cross-bridge model,the mechanosensing regulation is able to stabilize a system of non-uniform half-sarcomeres arranged in series on the descending limb of the force-length relationship.

Synthesis and oxidation behavior of boron-substituted carbon powders by hot filament chemical vapor deposition

Boron-substituted carbon powder, B x C1?x with x up to 0.17, has been successfully synthesized by hot filament chemical vapor deposition. The boron concentration in prepared B x C1?x samples can be controlled by varying the relative proportions of methane and diborane. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and electron energy loss spectrum confirm the successful synthesis of an amorphous BC5 compound, which consists of 10–20 nm particles with disk-like morphology. Thermogravimetry measurement shows that BC5 compound starts to oxidize approximately at 620°C and has a higher oxidation resistance than carbon.

From the effects of the composition of the three kinds ofblended systems, the antistatic agent content and theblending methods on the spinnability, the antistatic prop-erty, and the wash fastness of PET filament, it is foundthat the antistatic behavior of the (PET) - (PEG) -(SDBS) - stearate quaternary system is improved greatlydue to the synergefic effect of the combined antistaticagents and the volume resistivity of the fiber *** reaches 10~8 ～ 10~9Ω·cm after being washed 20 tines in saponaceous water at 40℃. Its spinnability anddrawing behavior are good. The effect of the antistaticagent content on the mechanical property of PET fila-ment is also studied.

The propagation dynamics of ultraviolet light filament with Rayleigh scattering in air

In this paper we present for the first time the effects of Rayleigh scattering on the long distance propagation of ultraviolet （UV） light filament in air based on the stationary analysis. The simulation results show that the effects of Rayleigh scattering on the propagation of UV laser filaments may not be ignored. These influences are slightly dependent on the laser wavelength. We also compare the UV filament propagations at different input powers in the presence and the absence of the Rayleigh scattering and discuss the mechanisms of power loss and beam defocusing. In the absence of Rayleigh scattering, the filament propagation is determined by the oscillating behaviour of the beam size. In the presence of the scattering, the propagation lengths of filament are close to each other at different initial powers and determined by the Rayleigh scattering.
