We demonstrate a distributed optical fiber sensing system based on the Michelson interferometer of the phase sensitive optical time domain reflectometer （q0-OTDR） for acoustic measurement. Phase, amplitude, frequency response, and location information can be directly obtained at the same time by using the passive 3 ×3 coupler demodulation. We also set an experiment and successfully restore the acoustic information. Meanwhile, our system has preliminary realized acoustic-phase sensitivity around -150 dB （re rad/μPa） in the experiment.

fiber Bragg grating is inscribed on microfiber with femtosecond laser pulses irradiation. The microfiber is fabricated by stretching a section of single mode fiber over a flame. Periodic grooves are carved on the microfiber by the laser as have been observed experimentally. The microfiber Bragg grating is demonstrated for temperature and strain sensing, and the strain sensitivity is improved with decreased diameters of the microfibers.

This study proposes a novel interferometric fiber optic gyroscope(IFOG)based on an integrated optical chip,application-specific integrated circuit,and small-diameter sensing coil.The overall size and weight of the prototype are 30 mm × 30 mm ×30 mm and 68 g,respectively,making it the smallest closed-loop IFOG,to the best of our knowledge.A static experiment shows that the bias stability of the integrated IFOG is very close to the theoretical accuracy limit determined by the fiber coil and can satisfy the requirements of near-navigation-grade compact inertial navigation systems.

A probe-shaped sensor for simultaneous temperature and pressure measurement was reported in this article.The effective length of the sensor was〜2 mm,consisting of a fiber Bragg grating(FBG)and a Fabry-Perot interferometer(FPI)with a nano silica diaphragm.The response sensitivities of the sensor for pressure and temperature were measured as-0.98 nm/MPa and 11.10pm/℃,respectively.This sensor had an extremely low cross-sensitivity between pressure and temperature,which provided a significant potential in dual-parameter sensing.

A dual-source distributed optical fiber sensor system with combined Raman and Brillouin scatterings is designed for simultaneous temperature and strain measurements.The optimal Raman and Brillouin signals can be separately obtained by adjusting the powers of the two sources using an optical switch.The temperature and strain can be determined by processing the optimal Raman and Brillouin signals.The experimental result shows that 1.7 ？C temperature resolution and 60-με strain resolution can be achieved at a 24.7-km distance.

A high sensitivity magnetic fluid（MF） filled side-hole fiber magnetic field sensor based on surface plasmon resonance（SPR） is designed and investigated.Within the side-hole fiber,the water-based MF is injected into the two side holes,and both of the holes are coated with gold to realize the measurement of the magnetic field by using the SPR effect.The refractive index of the MF changes with different external magnetic fields,resulting in the resonant wavelength moving to other wavelengths.Furthermore,when the external magnetic field increases from 30 to 210.9 Oe,the magnetic field sensitivity can reach to 1.063 nm/Oe.

We propose a compact hydrogen sensor, based on Fabry-Perot interferometer with Pd/Ag composite film, fabricated by femtosecond laser mieromachining and thin-film coating technique. The sensing characteristic of sensor with 150-nm Pd/Ag24 composite film is studied, and the device is tested to measure the hydrogen volume ratio range of 0-8%. Experimental results show that the response of the sensor is reversible, and the system shows high potential in hydrogen detection.

We propose here a novel method for position fixing in the micron scale by combining the convolutional neural network(CNN) architecture and speckle patterns generated in a multimode fiber. By varying the splice offset between a single mode fiber and a multimode fiber, speckles with different patterns can be generated at the output of the multimode fiber. The CNN is utilized to learn these specklegrams and then predict the offset coordinate. Simulation results show that predicted positions with the precision of 2 μm account for 98.55%.This work provides a potential high-precision two-dimensional positioning method.

We propose, fabricate, and demonstrate a compact fiber-tip Fabry-Perot interferometer of microcavity for high-temperature sensing. The microcavity which can be used for temperature or pressure sensing is fabricated by using arc discharge at the end of a multimode fiber, which is processed with chemical etching. Advantages of the sensor based on the fiber-tip Fabry-Perot interferometer are small size, easy fabrication, low cost and may have potential applications in space-limited and high-temperature environment.
