Effect of fiber angle on LYP steel shear walls behavior

Steel shear wall(SSW) was properly determined using numerical and experimental *** properties of SSW and LYP(low yield point) steel shear wall(LSSW) were *** is revealed that LSSW exhibits higher properties compared to SSW in both elastic and inelastic *** is also concluded that the addition of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced polymers) enhances the seismic parameters of LSSW(stiffness,energy absorption,shear capacity,over strength values).Also,stress values applied to boundary frames are lower due to post buckling *** effect of fiber angle was also studied and presented as a mathematical equation.

Modeling sintering behavior of metal fibers with different fiber angles

The formation of sintering necks between two metal fibers was investigated using the oval-oval model with respect to the fiber angle range of 0°-90°. Surface diffusion was assumed to be the predominant mechanism in every section of the junction of two metal fibers in this model, which was addressed numerically using the level- set method. The growth rates of the sintering necks in the direction of the bisector of obtuse angle, the bisector of acute angle and the fiber axis were discussed in detail. It is found that the growth rate of the sintering necks decreases with fiber angle increasing in the direction of the fiber axis and the bisector of acute angle. However, an opposite variation in growth rate of sintering necks can be found in the direction of the bisector of obtuse angle. The numerical simulation results show that the growth rate of the sintering necks is significantly affected by the initial local geomet- rical structure which is determined by the fiber angle.

In the design optimization of variable stiffness composites,manufacturing constraints imposed by the automated fiber placement technology must be *** the present paper,two filters are proposed to address this issue,and they are incorporated into the Shepard interpolation-based design optimization framework developed in our previous *** fiber angle arrangement of a composite is represented by a continuous function that interpolates fiber angles at scattered design *** filters are appointed for each design point to deal with two typical manufacturing constraints,i.e.,fiber curvature and gap/*** each design point,the sensitivity is first filtered in a rectangular region around this point,and by this means the fiber curvature is controlled;then in another rectangular region around this design point,the filtered sensitivities are averaged,and the result is used to update the corresponding design *** numerical examples are investigated,and the results show that the proposed method is effective.
