A novel algorithm for the detection of ship target with high accuracy in the synthetic aperture radar(SAR) with high spatial resolution image is proposed. The SAR image may include not only the ship targets but also the interferences such as the sea clutter,the strong reflection target,the sidelobe and so on.The conventional constant false alarm rate(CFAR) algorithm has some disadvantages,and it has not enough prior information about the size of the ships. Hence,it cannot separate the adjacent ships correctly. A comprehensive algorithm based on the modified CFAR algorithm and opening operation is presented to solve the problem,and the detection accuracy can be improved consequently. The results of SAR image illustrate the effectiveness of the method in this paper.

The detection performance of the frequency-domain adaptive filter is compared with the time-domain one. Comparisons are based on the computer digital simulation with a sinusoidal signal andwhite Gauss noise. The performance of the frequency and time-domain adaptive filters are shownto be the same for an unknown frequency signal, but for the detection of known frequency the fre-quency-domain adaptive filter length is much shorter to get the same detection probability.

COVID-19 is a newly emerging disease[1], which has already imported to many countries throughout the world. At present, active screening by thermo-scanning on immigrants from high-risk countries for COVID-19 at international border post is generally done by each country as a basic measurement for prevention of the disease. However, due to the possibility of afebrile presentation in COVID-19 cases[2], there is a chance of false-negative of screening. Here, the authors would like to share the observation from Thailand where COVID-19 has become a concerning public health problem. The aim is to determine the chance of false-negative from thermo-scanning for COVID-19 at international border post.

Side-scan sonar detection application always combines with unstable results.A two-stage novel pixel importance value measurement algorithm is proposed to stabilize the detection ability and false alarm probability simultaneously.In first stage of the algorithm,a new feature defined as pixel importance value(PIV)is proposed in terms of distances between the target pixel and each other pixels.PIV measurement of current pixel is defined as the weighted sum of all remaining segmented pixels.The weighted part refers to Gaussian kernel,which means closer pixels gets higher weight.Thus,targets with higher PIV can be located.In the second stage,we use convolutional neural network as classifier to eliminate the dot-like false targets.Our experiment data is obtained by autonomous underwater vehicle,where we demonstrate superior performance of our algorithm over the state-of-the-art sonar detection algorithms in terms of 90.39% recall rate and 2.39% false alarm probability.
