With brilliant civilization during the transitional period from a original clan society to a state society in prehistory,the Neolithic Tenghualuo Site in Lianyungang was discovered by archaeological survey in 1989,which was titled as‘one of the nation’s ten great archeological discoveries in 2000’.However,the transgression and the anthropogenic environment deterioration have ever been employed to explain the abandonment of the site.Based on a dynasty framework established by the 14 C dating,and using the experimental methods such as micro-paleontology identification in foraminifera and charophytes, the content test of Rb and Sr,susceptibility analysis as well as granularity and sedimentary facies analysis,some researches on the sediments from the two exploration layers at Tenghualuo Site were conducted,and the following new findings have been gained:Firstly,foraminifera which are relevant to the marine environment were not found in the sediment layer,however,25 charales,which usually live in the freshwater environment,in 07LTT1 exploration samples were found.Among them,3 charales were found in the samples from the forth sediment layer below the late Longshan Cultural layer and 22 charates were from the second sediment layer above the late Longshan Cultural layer.Furthermore,5 plant seeds and 41 fungal spores,together with many carbonation holes,plant seed shells,as well as their roots and stems were also found in the second sediment layer above the late Longshan Cultural layer.Secondly,the cumulative probability curves of the sediments’granularity in both the last and its overlying culture intermittent layers have characteristics of three-phase river sediment curve,and the ratios between Rb and Sr are both quite high in samples from two layers sedimented during the disappearing time of the site.All above-mentioned evidences indicate that disappearance of the Tenghualuo Site was not related to the transgression.The late Longshan Culture of the site could be completely abandoned after a relatively long-term inland

The Qaidam Basin is a larger sedimentary basin in western China where the thickness of the Quaternary deposits is in the range of 2000-3000 m at its subsiding center. This paper first dates palaeomagnetically the cores obtained from the five continuously sampled intervals and those from a typical profile, determineds the age of the index fossil zones, and calculates the deposition rates for the varve deposits based on the sedimentological analysis. As a result, we can calculate the ages of the various characteristic beds (including fossil zones, seismic reflection beds, and marker layers of electrical properties) for any given borehole-section when it was divided into facies, and check the validity of the chronology. According to all those studies, the stratigraphic and geochronologic analysis program of the Quaternary deposits in the Qaidam Basin has permitted a detailed discussion to be made in this paper.

Magnetic parameters for rocks from a crustal cross-section exposed in the Dengfeng-Lushan area,Henan Province are systematically determined.The results,along with their mineralogy,chemical composition,density and P-wave velocity,indicate that there is a general increase in susceptibilityK,natural remanent magnetization J.and saturation isothermal remanence Jr with increasing metamorphicgrade （apparent crustal depth） from the Early Proterozoic Angou Group （greenschist facies） through theLate Archean Dengfeng Group （amphibolite facies） to the Taihua Group （high-amphibolite to granulitefacies）.Metasedimentary rocks of the Angou and Dengfeng Groups show a clear paramagnetic nature,whileother rock types are dominantly ferrimagnetism.The Taihua Group reflects the magnetic distribution of thelower crust of the cross-section and has average K,Jn and Jr values of 6680×10-6 SI,0.166 A/m and 71.78A/m,respectively,which are in good agreement with those of other exposed high-grade metamorphic ter-rains in the world.

Grain size analysis, X ray diffraction analysis and biostratigraphy analysis of the structure, composition and formation conditions of the neritic silty clay facies sediments extensively distributed in the central part of the South Yellow Sea showed that the sediments were composed of more than 70% clay, less than 30% silt, had very little or no sand, and were characterized by homogenous texture, soapy feeling, high plasticity, light green gray color and elliptical distribution being about 3 m thick in the center, being thinner towards the margin and finally thinning out. These shelf cyclonic eddy environment sediments formed a sedimentary facies different from that of the sediments in the neighbouring area and revealed the particular sediment dynamic pattern in the environment.

Debate on depositional environment about foraminifera-rich strata in many Cenozoiccontinental basins in East China has existed for a long time. Research results achieved inrecent years show that it is difficult to distinguish foraminiferal assemblages in modern saltylakes from those in weakly marine environments such as supratidal zone and lagoon.However, shell geochemistry may be an outlet for this problem because of great differencein chemical and isotopic compositions between lake water and sea water. With Songliao Basin in northeast China entering the middle-late stage of the exploration and development of oil and gas resources,it is urgent to open up new areas for oil and gas exploration on the periphery of the basin.Five sedimentary sags have been discovered in the western margin of the Da Hinggan Mountains through high-precision gravity,magnetic,and electrical prospecting engineering.According to the conditions of the 5 sags such as buried depth,area,and the scale of source rock,Hesigewula Sag was preferentially selected to deploy two-dimensional seismic prospecting and drilling.As a result,the stratigraphic distribution and structure of Hesigewula Sag were preliminarily ascertained,the main sedimentary facies developed in Aershan Formation-Tengger Formation of the Lower Cretaceous was summarized,and the assessment parameters of source rock of Hesigewula Sag were obtained.According to the research results,the Hesigewula Sag can be divided into 3 second-order tectonic units including the western bulge,the central sag,and the eastern bulge respectively,and the sag was formed mainly subject to the west fractures.Three sedimentary facies including fan delta facies,braided river delta facies,and lacustrine facies have been identified in the Aershan Formation-Tengger Formation of the sag.The source rock in the first member and second member of Tengger Formation in the sag features high abundance of organic matter,meeting the standards of good source rocks.The kerogen of the source rock is mainly of type Ⅱ1-Ⅱ2.The organic matter in the source rock is characterized by low maturity and it entered the evolution stage of low maturity from the second member of Tengger Formation.Furthermore,Hesigewula Sag bears a strong similarity to other petroliferous sags in Erlian Basin in structure,sedimentation,source rock,and other characteristics.Therefore,it can be preliminarily determined that Hesigewula Sag boasts great potential for oil and gas resources.
