his paper adopts the 3-3-2 information processing method for the capture of moving objects as its premise, and proposes a basic principle of three-dimensional (3D) imaging using biological compound eye. Traditional bionic vision is limited by the available hardware. Therefore, in this paper, the new-generation technology of microlens-array light-field camera is proposed as a potential method for the extraction of depth information from a single image. A significant characteristic of light-field imaging is that it records intensity and directional information from the lights entering the camera. Herein, a refocusing method using light-field image is proposed. By calculating the focusing cost at different depths from the object, the imaging plane of the object is determined, and a depth map is constructed based on the position of the object’s imaging plane. Compared with traditional light-field depth estimation, the depth map calculated by this method can significantly improve resolution and does not depend on the number of light-field microlenses. In addition, considering that software algorithms rely on hardware structure, this study develops an imaging hardware that is only 7 cm long based on the second-generation microlens camera’s structure, further validating its important refocusing characteristics. It thereby provides a technical foundation for 3D imaging with a single camera.

Objective: To observe the clinical application of olopatadine eye drops alone or combination with pranoprofen eye drops in the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis (AC). The levels of serum immunoglobulin, histamine (HA) and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) were analyzed. Methods: A total of 90 AC patients were randomly divided into control group (n=45) and observation group (n=45) according to the lottery method. The control group was treated with olopatadine hydrochloride eye drops. On the basis of the control group, the observation group was treated with pranoprofen eye drops. The levels of serum immunoglobulin, HA and ECP were measured in all subjects. Results: There was no significant difference in serum immunoglobulin level between the observation group and the control group before treatment. After treatment, the levels of serum IgG, IgA and IgE in the observation group and the control group were significantly lower than those before treatment. And the observation group was significantly lower than the control group after treatment. There were no significant differences in serum HA and ECP levels between the observation group and the control group before treatment. After treatment, the levels of serum HA and ECP in the observation group and the control group were significantly lower than those before treatment. And the observation group was significantly lower than the control group after treatment. Conclusion: Compared with olopatadine eye drops, olopatadine eye drops combined with pranoprofen eye drops in the treatment of AC patients, can effectively reduce the serum immunoglobulin, HA and ECP levels, which may be the clinical treatment of AC patients Of the effective reference program.

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Patients with Diabetes Regarding eye Care: A Cross Sectional Study

Introduction: The non-communicable eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy have become significant threats to vision and require lifelong management. The development of ocular complications of diabetes has been associated with longstanding and/or poorly controlled disease. Early detection and prevention are keys to reduce this scourge, but this largely depends on the existing knowledge. Objective: This study is aimed at determining the knowledge, attitude and practice regarding eye care among patients living with diabetes with a view to making recommendations for a multidisciplinary patient-centered approach to ophthalmic care. Methods: One hundred and three respondents were interviewed using a structured questionnaire in a cross sectional study carried out in the Endocrinology Clinic of Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. Results: There was a female preponderance with a male to female ratio of 1:1.3. Of these respondents, 68.9% had been diabetic for 5 years or less;56.4% could define diabetes;but only 40.77% could mention some ocular complications of diabetes. Only 31.1% had had their eyes examined;the rest had not been to an eye clinic due to lack of funds, time, no ocular problems and not having been referred to an eye doctor. This attitude and practice were not significantly associated with age, sex, occupation or duration of illness. Conclusion: Though more than half of the respondents could define diabetes, there is still a poor knowledge of the ocular complications of diabetes and a poor attitude and practice regarding eye care among these patients. An interdisciplinary patient-centred approach to the management of diabetic eye diseases is recommended so as to reduce the burden of visual impairment from diabetes.

Objective:To discuss the minimally invasive treatment and prognosis of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma(JNA)involving the eye and optic nerve.Methods:A retrospective analysis of the clinical data for 18 large JNAs and on the reports of three typical cases.Results:The tumour invaded the orbit,eye,optic nerve and optic chiasm of 18,9,8 and 5 patients,respectively.Twelve patients were cured after surgery with the affected eye and vision essentially returning to normal.In six JNAs,tumour residue was found in the middle cranial fossa.Two of six patients did not return for follow-up,and four underwent radiotherapy.All four patients regained placement of the eye in the normal or near-normal position.One patient regained normal visual acuity,whereas three patients experienced no improvement in visualacuity,with one of them becoming blind.Conclusions:Surgery may return the eye to the normal position and may restore visual acuity if the optic fundus,macula,retina and optic nerve are only mildly affected.Modern radiotherapy can treat the intracranial residue effectively.A combined antruminfratemporal fossa-nasal cavity approach via a Caldwell-Luc incision provides a minimally invasive method.

Herpesviruses are a prominent cause of human viral disease, second only to the cold and influenza viruses. Most herpesvirus infections are mild or asymptomatic. However, when the virus invades the eye, a number of pathologies can develop and its associated sequelae have become a considerable source of ocular morbidity. The most common culprits of herpetic eye disease are the herpes simplex virus(HSV), varicella zoster virus(VZV), and cytomegalovirus(CMV). While primary infection can produce ocular disease, the most destructive manifestations tend to arise from recurrent infection. These recurrent infections can wreck devastating effects and lead to irreversible vision loss accompanied by a decreased quality of life, increased healthcare usage, and significant cost burden. Unfortunately, no method currently exists to eradicate herpesviruses from the body after infection. Treatment and management of herpes-related eye conditions continue to revolve around antiviral drugs, although corticosteroids, interferons, and other newer therapies may also be appropriate depending on the disease presentation. Ultimately, the advent of effective vaccines will be crucial to preventing herpesvirus diseases altogether and cutting the incidence of ocular complications.

Purpose/Aim: We aimed to investigate the effect of monocular blur on the binocular visual field. Materials and Methods: A total of 13 healthy young volunteers participated in this study. The mean subjective refractive error of the dominant eye (DE) was -3.33 ± 1.65D, and the non-dominant eye (NDE) was -3.15 ± 2.84D. The DE was determined by using the hole-in-the-card test. The visual field was examined by the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer using the 30-2 SITA Standard program. The visual field was measured while wearing soft contact lens under three conditions;① both eyes: near vision correction;② DE: near vision correction +3.00D added, NDE: near vision correction;and ③ DE: near vision correction, NDE: near vision correction +3.00D added. The foveal threshold, mean deviation (MD), and pattern standard deviation (PSD) values were investigated. Results: The foveal threshold value (dB) at ①, ②, and ③ was 41.2, 37.8, and 38.1, respectively. The values at ② and ③ were both significantly lower than that at ① (p Conclusion: These results suggest that monocular blur reduced the sensitivity within the binocular visual field.
