The net distance between the Xuetangwan interchange and the Huangshi tunnel exit of the Kaiyun expressway(Jiangkou-Yunyang-Longgang section)is used as an example in this *** paper analyses the problems in the safety distance between expressway tunnel and interchange under multi tunnel,and proposes safety distance measures between expressway tunnel and interchange under multi tunnel,based on the current safety distance standard between expressway tunnel and interchange under multi tunnel.

SAFETY OF PAVEMENT SKID-RESISTANCE FOR EXPRESSWAY TUNNEL

According to accident data statistics in China, the pavement skid-resistance performance influenced traffic safety greatly in expressway tunnels. Skid-resistance evaluation standard for common highway section can’t be applied to tunnel pavement for the special traffic environment in tunnels. Based on drivers’ expectation of pavement adhesion, traffic characteristics in tunnel and vehicle dynamics, critical braking adhesion coefficient is proposed as the unacceptable level of skid-resistance for tunnel pavement, and then safety evaluation standard of skid-resistance performance for tunnel pavement is carried out. Finally, safety measures related to pavement skid-resistance performance are discussed.

Review and perspective of expressway tunnels in Taiwan, China

Since the construction of the first expressway in the 1970s, the total length of expressways in Taiwan has increased to over 1 000 km, of which 40 km are aligned with tunnels. These twin-tube tunnels, which have two or three lanes in each tube, are characterized by large cross-sections. Due to the complicated topography and heterogeneous geological conditions of Taiwan, tunnel construction has encountered many difficulties. Thus, many advanced excavation methods were developed during tunnel construction. To satisfy the concurrent requirements of safety, economy and efficiency, new construction methods and techniques should be developed or introduced. Moreover, environmental protection and ecological conservation must be paid increasing attention to the goal of substantial development.
