Bilinear forms of the coupled Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation are derived. The $N$-soliton solutions to the equation are obtained by Hirota＇s method. It is interesting that the two-soliton solutions can generate the rogue-wave-like phenomena by selecting special parameters. The equation can be reduced to the Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation as well as its bilinear forms and its solutions.

An alternative extension to the Gaussian-beam expansion technique is provided to simplify the computation of the ~esnel field integral for rectangular symmetric sources. From a known result that the circle or rectangle function is approximately decomposed into a sum of Gaussian functions, the cosine function is similarly expanded by the Bessel Fourier transform. Two expansions are together inserted in this field integral, it is then expressible in terms of the simple algebraic functions. As examples, the numerical results for the sound pressure field are presented for the uniform rectangular piston transducer, in a good agreement with those directly evaluated from the Fresnel integral. A wide applicability of this approach is discussed in treatment of the ultrasonic field radiation problem for a large and important group of piston sources in acoustics.

Spin （polarization） is widely used in free-space optics, while in photouic integrated circuits （PICs）, infor- mation is usually encoded in optical route. So a practical way to connect these two encoding methods is necessary for information communication. In this letter, an encoding convertor is designed to connect spin encoding and route encoding. Finite element method is used to calculate the conversion efficiency and extinction ratio of the encoding convertor and the theoretical analyses are also given. Our protocol shows a friendly way to convert optical spin information to route information, which will promote the compatibility of free-space optics and PICs.

We report the fabrication of 4-inch nano patterned wafer by two-beam laser interference lithography and analyze the uniformity in detail. The profile of the dots array with a period of 800 nm divided into five regions is characterized by a scanning electron microscope. The average size in each region ranges from 270 nm to 320 nm,and the deviation is almost 4%, which is approaching the applicable value of 3% in the industrial process. We simulate the two-beam laser interference lithography system with MATLAB software and then calculate the distribution of light intensity around the 4 inch area. The experimental data fit very well with the calculated results. Analysis of the experimental data and calculated data indicates that laser beam quality and space filter play important roles in achieving a periodical nanoscale pattern with high uniformity and large area. There is the potential to obtain more practical applications.

We show that the breakdown of dipole approximation can be adopted to explain the asymmetry structure in the photoelectron momentum distributions along the beam propagation direction, which is defined as the photoelectron longitudinal momentum distributions（PLMD）, in tunneling regime（K ？ 1）, based on the strong field approximation theory. The nondipole Hamiltonian for photoelectrons interacting with laser fields from a hydrogen-like atom is transformed into the Kramers–Henneberger frame in our model. To introduce the correction of dipole approximation, the spatial variable is kept in a vector potential （r, t）, demonstrating that the breakdown of dipole approximation is the major reason for the shift of the peak in PLMD. The nondipole effects are apparent when circularly polarized lasers are adopted to ionize the atoms, and clear tendency to increase offsets is found for increasing laser intensities.
