In the past hundred years since 1900,with some sorts of fundamental symmetry,the combination of quantum theory and special relativity is successful in establishing the“standard model of particle physics”.In this era of multi-messenger astronomy(encompassing full electromagnetic waves,neutrinos,cosmic rays,and gravitational waves),it becomes increasingly important to explore the physics in strong gravity,which involves the integration of the standard model and the general relativity.The mystery of powerful and brief flashes ofγ-rays,called gamma-ray bursts(GRBs),is one of such issues,often involving the birth of black holes and neutron stars.LHAASO(Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory).

IS THERE A NEED FOR SEROTYPING?The emergence and rapid selection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)immune escape variants have exerted significant challenges in many different ways,from public health response to vaccine boosting strategy and monitoring of herd immunity against future variants or related severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)related coronaviruses(SARSr-CoVs).The Omicron sub-variants,which differ substantially from the pre-Omicron variants,are circulating worldwide and continuing to evolve extensively through mutations and/or recombination predominantly in the spike protein,mainly due to immune-selective pressure.Despite their phylogenetically close relationship to ancestral SARS-CoV-2,antigenically,Omicron variants are very different from the original strain.It is therefore very natural to raise the question whether we need a better way to classify and differentiate those CoVs which are genetically very similar,but antigenically quite distinct.Serotyping of viruses is a common practice for many known virus groups,most notably for human papillomavirus(HPV)and dengue virus(DENV)[1,2].The concept of CoV serotypes was not new and has been applied to study the antigenicity of feline CoVs[3].The possibility of establishing distinctive serotypes for the SARS-CoV-2 virus was first raised by Simon-Loriere and Schwartz in 2022[4].Serotyping SARS-CoV-2 is expected to help more scientifically define the differences between variants and facilitate more targeted diagnostics,therapeutics,and vaccine development.

The root is an important organ for crops to absorb water and nutrients.Complete and accurate acquisition of root phenotype information is important in root phenomics research.The in situ root research method can obtain root images without destroying the roots.In the image,some of the roots are vulnerable to soil shading,which severely fractures the root system and diminishes its structural integrity.The methods of ensuring the integrity of in situ root identification and establishing in situ root image phenotypic restoration remain to be explored.Therefore,based on the in situ root image of cotton,this study proposes a root segmentation and reconstruction strategy,improves the UNet model,and achieves precise segmentation.It also adjusts the weight parameters of EnlightenGAN to achieve complete reconstruction and employs transfer learning to implement enhanced segmentation using the results of the former two.The research results show that the improved UNet model has an accuracy of 99.2%,mIOU of 87.03%,and F1 of 92.63%.The root reconstructed by EnlightenGAN after direct segmentation has an effective reconstruction ratio of 92.46%.This study enables a transition from supervised to unsupervised training of root system reconstruction by designing a combination strategy of segmentation and reconstruction network.It achieves the integrity restoration of in situ root system pictures and offers a fresh approach to studying the phenotypic of in situ root systems,also realizes the restoration of the integrity of the in situ root image,and provides a new method for in situ root phenotype study.

To the Editor:Coronary heart disease(CHD)and depression are common in patients worldwide and have a high comorbidity rate.Researches on depression have shown that it has been linked with long-term risk for CHD.[1]The incidence and mortality of depression with CHD were higher,and the prognosis was worse.[2]The association between CHD and depression is well established and is suggested to be bidirectional.[3]Therefore,to provide possible conditions for the study of depression with CHD in the future,establishing a reliable animal model of depression with CHD is necessary.Chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS)is the most widely used to establish an animal model of depression for the past few years.Feeding a high-fat diet(HFD)to rats is a widely used method for establishing a model for atherosclerosis and CHD.Research reported that female cynomolgus monkeys that were housed in single cages and consumed an atherogenic diet could develop depression combined with CHD model.[4]Another paper reported that CUMS combined with HFD in rats was similar to the clinical manifestation of vascular depression in humans.[5]The former demonstrated that housing in single cages and feeding an atherogenic diet in monkeys could establish a depression combined with CHD model,the latter demonstrated that CUMS combined with HFD in rats was similar to vascular depression.It remains unclear whether CUMS combined with HFD in rats could establish a complex rat model of depression with CHD.Consequently,the aim of this study was to explore whether CUMS combined with HFD in rats could establish a representative,reliable rat model of depression with CHD and to provide possible conditions for an in-depth study of depression with CHD.
