Coal mining and washing is accompanied by the production of large amounts of coal gangue, which exerts a notable influence on the natural environment. However, as a form of solid waste, coal gangue exhibits a wide range of potential applications in the field of recycling. Nowadays, 'the utilization rate and quality of coal gangue are inadequate, and the disposal capacity and scale of coal gangue obviously cannot meet the current global lowcarbon environmental protection requirements. The paper presents an overview of the present state of coal gangue production and utilization, and investigates the environmental impact caused by the practice of stacking coal gangue. We emphasize the current research status of gangue in various high-value application fields,including environmental materials, agricultural production, construction materials, recovery and extraction of valuable elements, and energy generation. It highlights the significance of pre-treatment methods like activation,modification, and innocuousness for the comprehensive utilization of gangue. Additionally, we briefly introduce and discusses the future directions of research and development in this area. Nevertheless, with regard to the environmental impact of secondary contamination and the efficiency of gangue utilization, there remain numerous obstacles and unresolved matters that merit further investigation. It is believed that this review can offer valuable insights into the utilization of gangue development methods, and expedite the successful implementation and practical application of large-scale treatment and disposal of solid waste.

Based on the formation and development analysis of the environmental geological disaster of land subsidence, earth fissures and other geological disasters in the North China,it showed these disasters caused a very serious problem in some areas of the North China, such as the deep groundwater exploitation cone, which is accumulated with great damage and loss and is hard to be controlled, therefore, great attention should be paid. It is considered that the formation of the deep groundwater cone is the root of various geological environmental problems, and the groundwater cone recovery is the key to solve other environmental problems.

The impact of cropland conversion on environmental effect in the Loess Plateau: a pilot study based on the national experimental bases

Conversion of cropland to forestry and grassland is an important method to reduce soil erosion and improve the biophysical environment in the Loess Plateau. The feasibility, methods, and environmental effects of cropland conversion were studied based on 11 typical watersheds of national experimental bases instead of different geographic areas of the Loess Plateau. Between 1986 and 2000, cropland, sloping cropland and non-agricultural land decreased by 8%, 92.5% and 8% respectively, while forestry increased by 15.7%. The land use change not only decreased annual soil erosion by 74%, but also increased vegetation coverage by 100% and improved the soil condition and biodiversity. This can be achieved by building basic farmland, increasing capital and scientific input, and planting trees and grasses according to the natural biophysical restrictions.

Assessing the influence of environmental conditions on secondary organic aerosol formation from a typical biomass burning compound

The atmospheric chemistry in complex air pollution remains poorly understood.In order to probe how environmental conditions can impact the secondary organic aerosol(SOA)formation from biomass burning emissions,we investigated the photooxidation of 2,5-dimethylfuran(DMF)under different environmental conditions in a smog chamber.It was found that SO_(2)could promote the formation of SOA and increase the amounts of inorganic salts produced during the photooxidation.The formation rate of SOA and the corresponding SOA mass concentration increased gradually with the increasing DMF/OH ratio.The addition of(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)seed aerosol accelerated the SOA formation rate and significantly shortened the time for the reaction to reach equilibrium.Additionally,a relatively high illumination intensity promoted the formation of OH radicals and,correspondingly,enhanced the photooxidation of DMF.However,the enhancement of light intensity accelerated the aging of SOA,which led to a gradual decrease of the SOA mass concentration.This work shows that by having varying influence on atmospheric chemical reactions,the same environmental factor can affect SOA formation in different ways.The present study is helpful for us to better understand atmospheric complex pollution.

Relative contribution of genetic and environmental factors to determination of wing morphs of the brown planthopper Nilaparvatalugens

Wing dimorphism is a fascinating feature of the ability of insects to adapt to environments.The brown planthopper(BPH)Nilaparvata lugens,a serious pest of rice,can switch between the long-and short-winged morphs.It has been known that environmental factors can affect the wing morph of BPH.However,it is still unclear whether the effect of environment is dependent on BPH genetic backgrounds or not.In the present study,we established the pure-bred lineages of short-and long-winged BPHs via multigenerational selection,and we found that survival and fecundity were similar between these 2 lineages.Wing morphs of the pure-bred lineages were almost fully dependent on genetics,but independent of the environmental factors,nymphal density and rice plant stage,2 key factors affecting BPH wing morphs.In the unselected BPH population,short-and longwinged morphs were produced depending on those 2 environmental factors,indicating the contribution of environment to wing morph.In the wing-selected lineages,4 developmental regulated genes of wing,NllnRI,NllnR2,NIAkt,and NIFoxo were expressed stably in the short-winged adults,but almost silenced in the long-winged adults.However,all these genes were expressed normally with a similar level in both the short-and long-winged adults in an unselected population except NlFoxo.The pure-bred lineages of long-and short-winged morphs exhibited different expression patterns of wing development-regulated genes,suggesting the genetic determination of wing morphs.effects of environmental factors on wing morphs occurred only in the genetic mix population.

林下经济是生态文明建设背景下推进山区绿色高质量发展、实现“两山”理念的重要载体。本文基于里昂惕夫生产函数和最优生产决策理论刻画林下经济的经济效应、环境效应及其协同的理论模型，并通过对典型案例县的研究，对林下经济的经济效应与环境效应协同发展的理论机制加以印证。研究发现：第一，林下经济经营中，给定其他条件不变，当劳动力投入效率增加时，劳动力投入先增加后降低、林地投入单调递增，林下经济的经济价值也是单调递增，而林下经济的生态价值先增加后降低，林下经济的经济价值和生态价值总和递增；第二，进一步基于扩展模型的分析发现，在适度经营规模下，林下经济产生生态反馈效应，经营主体不再单纯追求经济利润最大化，而是通过降低林地要素的投入来提高林地资源的生态反馈效应，从而提升环境效应，最终实现经济效应和环境效应协同发展；第三，浙江省松阳县的案例剖析表明，在政府的合理扶持下，依靠适度规模经营、生态化种植和三产融合能够实现林下经济的经济效应与环境效应协同发展。因此，林下经济作为“两山”理念的有效载体，应积极推广，通过科学有效经营，能够实现经济效应和环境效应的协同增长。

In this paper,the summer conventional meteorological data in Beijing over the past 10 years are analyzed.The results reveal that the impact of urbanization on the urban climate has become more and more apparent.(1)Over the past 10 years,the relative humidity decreases year by year and the average value in urban area is smaller than that in rural area.(2)The summer precipitation in Beijing decreases gradually over the past 10 years,especially after the year of 1998.(3)The average daily evaporation and the sunshine duration in urban area are more than those in rural area.(4)The visibility in urban area is smaller than that in rural area,but they all have been becoming more and more better after 1999.(5)The soil temperature also reveals the characteristics of UHI.(6)The number of days with the air temperature higher than 35 increases year by year.(7)Combined with the observational data from the 325m high tower in IAP,the results also show that the inversion in urban boundary layer is very favorable to the formation of the strong summer UHI.

Chemical fertilizer adding urease/nitrification inhibitors can improve utilization rate of fertilizer and protect ecological environment. The environmental effect of different kinds and content of inhibitors adding in chemical fertilizer under peanut growing conditions in brown soil were studied in this paper. The results indicated that compared with CK, urease inhibitor increased soil available nitrogen by 7.0%5.0% and nitrification inhibitor increased soil available phosphorus by 6.4%5.3%. In the meantime, urease activity and catalase activity increased by5%5% and 10%0%, respectively. No soil acidification and salinization were observed in the experiment. The test also demonstrated chemical fertilizer adding different inhibitors increased the yield of peanut by 2.06%1.65%. Among which, 0.15% 3,5-Dimethyprazole (DMP) deserved to be promoted in the practice.

environmental load of solid wood floor production from larch grown at different planting densities based on a life cycle assessment

As one of the main structural units in a building,a solid wood floor has significant strategic research value for low-carbon energy saving.Taking the production line of a solid larch wood floor as a case study,we assessed the environmental load during production based upon a life cycle assessment.Using GaBi 6.0 software,we analyzed the associated carbon sequestration during floor production,with the initial planting density serving as the disturbance factor in a modular analysis.The results indicated that the cutting and finishing steps have relatively intense,negative influences on the environment,whereas transportation,ripping,and trimming do not.Additionally,recycling biomass waste has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.When the initial planting density was 3.0×3.0 m,carbon sequestration was relatively high.Although the emissions of freshwater pollutants,volatile organic compounds,and fine particulate matter（matter with a 2.5-μm diameter） were comparatively high,the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions was still excellent at this planting density.
