The widespread application of 4G and the rapid development of 5G technologies dramatically increase the energy consumption of telecommunication base station (TBS). Remarkably, the air conditioning system accounts for a significant part of energy consumption in TBS. In this work, passive radiative sky cooling technology has been studied to explore its application potential for TBS. We built a simulation model in DeST to investigate the effect of various envelope thermophysical properties on TBS energy saving. The main influencing factors of the radiative sky cooling on TBS energy saving have been concluded and guidance has been raised for further application. An optimized envelope design combining radiative sky cooling with appropriate heat transfer coefficients has been proposed. The energy-saving and economic analysis of the optimized envelope design at different areas shows that, except for the low heat density TBS in severe cold areas, the annual energy-saving rate is 6.77%–64.29%, and the annual total energy saving is 21.94 kWh/m2–52.74 kWh/m2. The payback period is 1.55–4.67 years, and the maximum acceptable cost limited to a 5-year payback period is $3.21/m2–$9.67/m2.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles(PHEVs) unite the advantages of the engine and electric motor which could provide great potential in saving energy. However, the fuel economy performance of the PHEVs is highly associated with the driving condition, especially for parallel PHEVs because they could not decouple the engine work status from the driving condition. Meanwhile, fuel economy performance is not only a longitudinal issue but also related to lane selection. Lane selection is an important driving behavior and the algorithm of lane selection is necessary for the development progress of intelligent connected vehicles. energy consumption cost is an important part of the vehicle’s using consumption cost. Therefore, lane selection strategies must consider this point.With the development of intelligent connected vehicle technology, such as V2X(Vehicle to Everything), the potential of energy consumption performance of intelligent connected PHEVs could be improved by taking environment information from V2X and smart sensors into lane selection. In this paper, a neural network(NN) based method is proposed to predict the future status of the local vehicle using the information from V2X, and then another network is used to estimate the future energy consumption of each lane. The lane selection is decided on energy consumption estimation. Lastly, the effectiveness of the method is validated by simulation using Matlab combined with SUMO(Simulation of Urban MObility).

The methodology and procedures are discussed on designing merchant ships to achieve fully-integrated and optimized hull-propulsion systems by using asymmetric aftbodies. Computational fluid dynamics （CFD） has been used to evaluate the powering performance through massive calculations with automatic deformation algorisms for the hull forms and the propeller blades. Comparative model tests of the designs to the optimized symmetric hull forms have been carried out to verify the efficiency gain. More than 6% improvement on the propulsive efficiency of an oil tanker has been measured during the model tests. Dedicated sea-trials show good agreement with the predicted performance from the test results.

Mechanism analysis of solvent selectivity and energy-saving optimization in vapor recompression-assisted extractive distillation for separation of binary azeotrope

Octane and p-xylene are common components in crude gasoline,so their separation process is very important in petroleum industry.The azeotrope and near azeotrope are often separated by extractive distillation in industry,which can realize the recovery and utilization of resources.In this work,the vapor–liquid equilibrium experiment was used to obtain the vapor–liquid equilibrium properties of the difficult separation system,and on this basis,the solvent extraction mechanism was studied.The mechanism of solvent separation plays a guiding role in selecting suitable solvents for industrial separation.The interaction energy,bond length and charge density distribution of p-xylene with solvent are calculated by quantum chemistry method.The quantum chemistry calculation results and experiment results showed that N-formylmorpholine is the best solvent among the alternative solvents in the work.This work provides an effective and complete solvent screening process from phase equilibrium experiments to quantum chemical calculation.An extractive distillation simulation process with N-formylmorpholine as solvent is designed to separate octane and p-xylene.In addition,the feasibility and effectiveness of the intensified vapor recompression assisted extraction distillation are also discussed.In the extractive distillation process,the vapor recompression-assisted extraction distillation process is globally optimal.Compared with basic process,the total annual cost can be reduced by 43.2%.This study provides theoretical guidance for extractive distillation separation technology and solvent selection.

The relative location of inlets and outlets plays an important role in thermal comfort and energy conservation under ventilation modes for the building non-uniform indoor environment.Hence,a comparison study of thermal comfort and energy efficiency of eight widely-used ventilation modes for space heating was conducted in this study.Both subjective experiments and verified computational fluid dynamics(CFD)models were carried out.In the subjective experiments,the vote of local thermal sensation(LTS),overall thermal sensation(OTS)and draft sensation were collected.In the CFD simulations,RNG κ-ε model was applied to compare and analyze the air temperature field,turbulence intensity,ventilation effectiveness and air diffusion performance index(ADPI).The thermal comfort results showed that the air inlets are better located at the mid-height level of a wall,and the outlets are located at the same or higher height.While the results of the energy efficiency suggested that the inlets are better installed at the lower level of a wall,and the outlets should be placed far from the inlets.Since the results were conflict,the economic-comfort ratio was introduced to calculate and compare the thermal comfort and energy efficiency simultaneously.The final results concluded that it can achieve excellent thermal comfort performance without sacrificing energy efficiency when the inlets are at the height of 1.2 m of the front wall,and the outlets are at 1.2 m height of the back wall.Hence it is the best choice for the winter air distribution in northern China.This study can offer a guideline for the air terminal arrangements in non-uniform ventilation under heating mode.

Conceptual design of energy-saving stripping process for industrial sour water

Sour water contains ammonia,carbon dioxide,and hydrogen sulfides,producing from oil refining,coking,and coal gasification.To reduce the energy consumption in sour water stripping,a novel process is proposed which integrates with the bottom flashing mechanical vapor recompression heat pump(MVRHP)for treating such wastewater.Here,Aspen PlusTM as a powerful set of chemical process simulation software is utilized to investigate the economy and feasibility of the novel process.Comparison of the results of two process simulations,it can be seen that it is possible to reduce the total annual cost by nearly 45%to adopt the novel process,despite the capital investment increase 45%more than the conventional process.Thus,the provided conceptual design will play a guiding role in the industrialization of the process.

Aiming at the high fuel consumption and use-cost of truck-mounted concrete pump , an energy-saving matching strategy of pumping system is presented and the experimental study is conducted.Since pumping system occupies most resources of engine , the matching strategy between engine and main pump is analyzed to meet the load demand and reduce the engine rational speed drop.The testing method is established to measure the fuel consumption of engine under various working conditions , and the experimental data are analyzed to find the law of the fuel consumption of engine.The system performance can be improved by adjusting the system input value.Finally , the energy-saving matching strategy is established to reduce the fuel consumption of truck for unit workload , which provides a new approach for the energy-saving of truck-mounted concrete pump.

Delay-constrained sleeping mechanism for energy saving in cache-aided ultra-dense network

We investigate an energy-saving sleeping mechanism in a cache-aided ultra-dense network(UDN)with delay constraints. As in existing works, we consider the video and file contents of the UDN. The video contents are cached at and delivered by a small-cell base-station(sBS). The cache-aided sBS cooperates with a macro-cell base-station(mBS) to service the file contents. The optimal sleeping strategy that conserves energy under the delay constraint is formulated as an energy-consumption minimization problem under the network stability condition with a guaranteed delay constraint. To find its solution, the minimization problem is transformed into a joint optimization problem of energy consumption and delay by the Lyapunov technique.A delay-constrained sleeping algorithm is proposed, and its effectiveness is confirmed by the numerical results of a simulation study. A tradeoff between energy consumption and delay, achieved by adjusting the weighting factor in the cache-aided UDN, is also demonstrated.

From 21st century,it is hard for traditional storage and algorithm to provide service with high quality because of big data of communication which grows rapidly.Thus,cloud computing technology with relatively low cost of hardware facilities is created.However,to guarantee the quality of service in the situation of the rapid growth of data volume,the energy consumption cost of cloud computing begins to exceed the hardware cost.In order to solve the problems mentioned above,this study briefly introduced the virtual machine and its energy consumption model in the mobile cloud environment,introduced the basic principle of the virtual machine migration strategy based on the artificial bee colony algorithm and then simulated the performance of processing strategy to big data of communication based on artificial bee colony algorithm in mobile cloud computing environment by CloudSim3.0 software,which was compared with the performance of two algorithms,resource management(RM)and genetic algorithm(GA).The results showed that the power consumption of the migration strategy based on the artificial bee colony algorithm was lower than the other two strategies,and there were fewer failed virtual machines under the same number of requests,which meant that the service quality was higher.
