BACKGROUND Mental health is one of the important dimensions of health,while depression is an important indicator of mental health evaluation.AIM To investigate the association between intergenerational emotional support and depression of non-cohabiting parents(≥45 years old)in China.METHODS We used the fourth wave data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(2015).The data was made up of ten main modules,the associated two datasets,and five constructed datasets.The first step is to select the corresponding module data according to the purpose of this study.Moreover,the data of the six modules are integrated by the unique ID code and we choose depression and non-cohabiting items as the selection conditions.4810 samples were selected,which mainly included data on intergenerational emotional support and the individual scores on depressive symptoms.RESULTS The average age of 4810 respondents was(60.56±14.613)years old.Females were accounted for more than half of the samples(52.6%).74.0%respondents from rural areas and approximately 63.3%of the participants had a chronic disease.The mean value of the CESD-10 score was 13.06(SD5.225).Both faces to face and phone contacts were protective factors on depression symptoms in the mid-aged and seniors in China(Pemotional support is associated with depressive symptoms in non-cohabiting parents in China.However,the relationship was also affected by other variables.

This paper proposes a continuous cognitive emotional regulation model for robot in the case of external emotional stimulus from interactive person's expressions. It integrates a guiding cognitive reappraisal strategy into the HMM(Hidden Markov Model) emotional interactive model for empathizing between robot and person. The emotion is considered as a source in the 3D space(Arousal, Valence, and Stance). State transition and emotion intensity can be quantitatively analyzed in the continuous space. This cognition-emotion interactive model have been verified by the expression and behavior robot. Empathizing is the main distinguishing feature of our work, and it is realized by the emotional regulation which operated in a continuous 3D emotional space enabling a wide range of intermediate emotions. The experiment results provide evidence with acceptability, accuracy, richness, fluency, interestingness, friendliness and exaggeration that the robot with cognition and emotional control ability could be better accepted in the human-robot interaction(HRI).

The article considers the biological nature and origins of emotional stress. emotional stress is primarily formed within the mental activity of the brain in the form of pronounced negative emotions. The “Dynamic Theory of Emo-tions” characterizes the development of a continuous negative emotional state in conflicting behavioral situations when the subject is unable to satisfy its strong dominant need for a long time. The emotional stress is represented as having a dual nature, i.e. a biologically negative pathogenetic effect on health, but a positive impact on the adaptation of individuals, self-preservation of life, and evolutionary change in species.

Living with a congenital heart condition can require a daunting and uncertain patient journey during which the support of a specialist nursing service is vital. A descriptive, cross-sectional evaluation completed over two years, utilised a postal questionnaire to investigate patient’s satisfaction with aspects of service. Qualitative responses to open questions on satisfaction with emotional support (n = 103) and contributions to well-being (n = 90) were analysed using a framework approach which identified eight themes. Professional knowledge and expertise, service accessibility, caring attributes, enabling patients to cope with anxiety, depression and meeting changing needs contributed positively to both patient well-being and emotional support. Family support was influential on emotional support alone, whilst mediating medical liaison exerted an impact on well-being by enhancing feelings of security. In conclusion, the specialist nursing service contributed positively to well-being and emotional support of patients and thereby to selective aspects of continuity of care.

Objective To explore the characteristics of emotionalmemory in patients with early-stage Parkinson's disease(PD). Methods The methods of emotional memory neuro-cognitive test and event-related evoked potentials(ERPs) test were set. The emotional memory was detectedin 30 early-stage PD patients without treatment (PDgroup) and 30 matched (including education level,etc)healthy controls (control group),who were recruited inthe Department of Neurology,Anqing Municipal Hospitalfrom June 2016 to June 2018. Results Compared withthe control group (55. 83% ± 4. 17%),the negative valence picture recognition rate in the PD group (50. 30% ±4. 04%) showed statistically significant difference ( t =4. 85,P < 0. 05). The ERPs-P300 latency was (337. 47 ±7. 87) ms,the amplitude was (6. 34 ± 0. 62) μV,andthe reaction time was (3 729. 21 ± 226. 85) ms in thecontrol group,showing a statistically significant difference( t = - 3. 30,4. 04,2. 76,P < 0. 05) comparedwith that in the PD group (( 344. 20 ± 7. 94 ) ms,(5. 75 ± 0. 52) μV,(3 935. 33 ± 222. 24) ms,respectively).

Behavioural and emotional disorders in childhood: A brief overview for paediatricians

Mental health problems in children and adolescents include several types of emotional and behavioural disorders, including disruptive, depression, anxiety and pervasive developmental(autism) disorders, characterized as either internalizing or externalizing problems. Disruptive behavioural problems such as temper tantrums, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional, defiant or conduct disorders are the commonest behavioural problems in preschool and school age children. The routine Paediatric clinic or Family Medicine/General Practitioner surgery presents with several desirable characteristics that make them ideal for providing effective mental health services to children and adolescents. DSM-5 and ICD-10 are the universally accepted standard criteria for the classification of mental and behaviour disorders in childhood and adults. The age and gender prevalence estimation of various childhood behavioural disorders are variable and difficult to compare worldwide. A review of relevant published literature was conducted, including published metaanalyses and national guidelines. We searched for articles indexed by Ovid, Pub Med, Pub Med Medical Central, CINAHL, EMBASE, Database of Abstracts and Reviews, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic reviews and other online sources. The searches were conducted using a combination of search expressions including "childhood", "behaviour", "disorders" or "problems". Childhood behaviour and emotional problems with their related disorders have significant negative impacts on the individual, the family and the society. They are commonly associated with poor academic, occupational, and psychosocial functioning. It is important for all healthcare professionals, especially the Paediatricians to be aware of the range of presentation, prevention and management of the common mental health problems in children and adolescents.

The present study tested whether neural sensitivity to salient emotional facial expressions was influenced by emotional expectations induced by a cue that validly predicted the expression of a subsequently presented target face. Event-related potentials (ERPs) elicited by fearful and neutral faces were recorded while participants performed a gender discrimination task under cued (‘expected’) and uncued (‘unexpected’) conditions. The behavioral results revealed that accuracy was lower for fearful compared with neutral faces in the unexpected condition, while accuracy was similar for fearful and neutral faces in the expected condition. ERP data revealed increased amplitudes in the P2 component and 200–250 ms interval for unexpected fearful versus neutral faces. By contrast, ERP responses were similar for fearful and neutral faces in the expected condition. These findings indicate that human neural sensitivity to fearful faces is modulated by emotional expectations. Although the neural system is sensitive to unpredictable emotionally salient stimuli, sensitivity to salient stimuli is reduced when these stimuli are predictable.
