Word problems play a crucial role in mathematics ***,the authenticity of word problems is quite *** terms of the necessity of realistic considerations to be taken into account in the solution process,word problems have been classified into two categories:standard word problems(S-items)and problematic word problems(P-items).S-items refer to those problems involving the straightforward application of one or more arithmetical operations with the given numbers,whereas P-items call for the use of real-world knowledge and real-life experience in the problem-solving *** study aims to explore how Chinese upper elementary school mathematics teachers think of the place and value of P-items in the elementary mathematics curriculum.

This study aimed at developing the integrated character education model based on local wisdom in elementary schools in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The method used was the model proposed by Borg and Gall. This research has been in 7th step of 10 steps. The data were collected through Focused-Group Discussion （FGD）, questionnaire distribution, and observation. The data were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. The data then were validated by using content validation. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were validated through triangulation. The model consists of three main topics：（1） batik making on pottery piggie banks which integrates creativity, determination, and responsibility; （2） traditional song called ＂Cublak-cublak Suweng＂ integrating knowledge loving value, honesty, and responsibility; and （3） traditional game and song ＂Gundhul-gnndhul Pacul＂ integrating some values such as modesty, carefulness, and cooperation. This research needs to be continued to the next step, namely： field testing, finishing, deissemination, and implementation.

DISE learning model refers to the one which is dialogue-based using scientific approach containing edutainment element. DISE is the acronym of dialog, scientific, and edutainment. It is a learning model which is developed for the fifth graders of elementary school particularly for teaching writing of personal recount. This article described DISE learning model from the theoretical basis, meaning, and syntax. DISE was the product of Research and Development design conducted in Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. DISE learning model can serve as a reference for elementary school teachers for teaching writing.

Evaluation of indoor environmental quality conditions in elementary schools＇ classrooms in the United Arab Emirates

This study presents findings of indoor environmental quality （IEQ） investigations conducted in elementary schools＇ classrooms in the United Arab Emirates （UAE）. Average TVOC, CO2, O3, CO, and particle concentrations measured in the classrooms were 815 pg / m^3, 1605 ppm, 0.05 ppm, 1.16 ppm, and 1730 μg/m^3, respectively. Whereas, local authority known as Dubai Municipality recommended 300 pg/m^3, 800 ppm, 0.06 ppm, 9 ppm, and 150-300 μg/m^3 for TVOC, CO2, O3, CO, and particle, respectively. Dubai Municipality recommended temperature and retative humidity （RH） levels of 22.5 ℃ to 25.5 ℃ and 30%-60%, respectively. Average temperature and RH levels measured in the classrooms were 24.5 ℃ and 40.4%, respectively. Average sound level in the classrooms was 24 dB greater than recommended sound level limit of 35 dB. Six （6） classrooms had average lux levels in the range of 400-800 lux. Two （2） classrooms had average lux levels in the range of 100 200 lux. The remaining classrooms had lux levels around the recommended 300 lux. High occupancy density was observed in majority of the studied classrooms. The aim of this paper is to explore perspectives on equity,quality,motivation,and resilience by focusing in depth on the perspectives of educators in one small,semi-rural school in *** paper is intended to provide rich,in-depth data and discussion as a way of providing insights from different perspectives into findings from large-scale international *** two key questions addressed in the paper are,(1)How are equity and quality achieved and maintained in Japanese elementary schools?and(2)How are student motivation and resilience perceived and fostered in Japanese elementary schools?These questions are addressed through analysis of key official documents related to the questions,together with analysis of semi-structured interviews conducted with education professionals working in an elementary *** paper will contribute to understanding the perspectives of teachers in a particular school context in Japan on the roles of state,teachers,and children themselves in the task of achieving and maintaining equity and quality in a high performing education system.

Balance is an essential component of movement and is critical in the ability to participate in physical activity. Developing an exergaming curriculum for schools has the potential to improve balance or postural stability in children. In this study, a purposely-built exergaming center in an elementary school was used to test fourth grade students with a specially designed exergaming curriculum oriented toward improving postural stability. The program was implemented over a 6-week period, 34 min per day, 4-5 days per week. Two control groups were used：（1） a physical education （PE） class geared toward agility, balance, and coordination （ABC） improvement, and （2） a typical PE curriculum class. Exergaming students improved their postural stability significantly over a 6-week period compared to those in the typical PE class. Improvements in postural stability were also evident in the ABC class. Postural stability in the girls was better than the boys in all pre- and post-intervention tests. This study demonstrates that exergaming is a practical resource in the PE class to improve postural stability.

Physical activity data in primary school-aged children are limited in *** tools to measure social ecological influences on physical activity are validated in English,they are not available in *** to cultural and contextual differences,their psychometric properties need to be *** scales were translated into Vietnamese and evaluated for internal consistency and test re-test reliability,including self-efficacy,perceived social influences,and beliefs self-administered by students,and parental support for physical activity and parental perceived safety of the neighbourhood,self-administered by *** to the original scales,two items from the parental perceived neighbourhood safety were removed due to the cultural *** item of the self-efficacy scale was also removed as it correlated poorly with the other items in the scale at both *** adjusted scales were found to be reliable and appropriate for use among students and parents to measure social ecological influences on physical activity in the Vietnamese context.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of educational trends on A. T6rnudd＇s （1913） and V. Siukonen＇s （1929） methods of music education （teaching and singing） in Finland from 1863 to the late 1930s. In the examination of methods the analysis focuses on the time when T6rnudd and Siukonen were influential. A model of analysis was created in the study, with the help of which common and divergent elements in the educational trends and methods of music education were sought. According to the study, TOmudd＇s pattern singing method represented the Old school starting points, but he was a supporter of the work school, for instance. Siukonen＇s method was based on the New school principle in which the child-centered education philosophy and the developmental-psychological growth and development were taken into account in developing the method. Siukonen raised singing by ear as a central feature, from which children made observations. Methodical transition period took place at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. However, in teaching singing, the effects of the new trends were seen as early as from the late 1910s onwards.

Systematic Review Study on the Impact of the Pandemic on Literacy:Experiences of Parents and Teachers

With the COVID-19 pandemic,it was necessary to carry out public health measures,including the adoption of remote teaching and modification of the educational practices and experiences of parents and ***,the objective of this study was to conduct a systematic review and analyze the impact of the pandemic on the learning of schoolchildren in the early years of literacy,according to the experiences and practices of parents and *** systematic review is based on the PRISMA method(Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses)and the guiding questions of the PICO strategy(Population,Intervention,Comparison,Outcome).The PubMed,LILACS,Scopus,SciELO,Embase,and Web of Science databases were *** selection criteria involved the descriptors elementary school AND COVID-19,elementary school AND pandemic,and elementary school AND SARS-CoV-2.A total of 130 studies were selected,and after applying the criteria,only six studies were *** studies used interviews and questionnaires aimed at parents,teachers,and students and were carried out in various countries:one in Saudi Arabia,two in Indonesia,one in the United States of America,one in Canada,and one in *** studies were classified as Evidence Level 4(clinical outcome studies).As common points,most parents were stressed,overloaded,and unprepared to support their children during remote *** also mentioned difficulties,such as the lack of support and training,which affected their *** studies should be carried out to verify the educational and social impacts resulting from remote teaching.
