On the heating mechanism of electron cyclotron resonance thruster immerged in a non-uniform magnetic field

To study the heating mechanism of electron cyclotron resonance thruster(ECRT)immersed in a non-uniform magnetic field,experiments and simulations are performed based on an electron cyclotron resonance plasma source at *** is found that the first harmonic of electron cyclotron resonance is essential for plasma ignition at high magnetic field(0.0875 T),while the plasma can sustain without the first and second harmonics of electron cyclotron resonance at low magnetic field(till 0.0170 T).Evidence of radial hollow density profile indicates that upper hybrid resonance,which has strong edge heating effect,is the heating mechanism of low-field *** heating mode transition from electron cyclotron resonance to upper hybrid resonance is also ***,the evolutions of electron temperature and electron density with input power experience a‘delayed’jump,which may be correlated with the different power levels required for cyclotron and ***,when the field strength decreased,the variation of electron density behaves in an opposite trend with that of electron temperature,implying a possible competition of power deposition between *** present work is of great interest for understanding the plasma discharge in ECRT especially immersed in a non-uniform magnetic field,and designing efficient ECRT using low magnetic field for economic space applications.

Due to the relative position invariance of L2 Libration point in the Earth-moon system, Halo orbits around LL2 adapt to the best mission trajectory for Lunar Relay Satellite, which can offer relay communication for space missions such as deep-space exploration and Moon outpost construction. In order to improve the payload launch capacity of Lunar Relay Satellite, the electric thrusters which have high specific impulse and low thrust can be used as main propulsion. In this paper, the Q-law control theory in optimal control theory is adopted to calculate the optimal transfer orbit of Lunar Relay Satellite using electric thrusters. In addition, the effect of initial orbit of transfer trajectory and invariant manifold has been considerate. The result shows the design rules and the algorithm is of great important engineering meaning.

electric propulsion technology which has the advantages of high specific impulse, small thrust becomes the preferred way of space exploration in future. To ensure the safety and effectiveness of electric propulsion technology applications, the assessment of its performance is needed. The GNSS technology is now used for orbit determination, time service and so on, and it can be used for onboard thrust estimation. The paper gives the thrust model first. Then it gives the method to estimate the thrust for low and circle satellite orbit and the workflow using GNSS precision orbit determination Technology. At last, the simulation is made to analyse the semi-major axis variation under the thrust in the velocity direction. The result of Grace real time orbit and precision orbit is also give to prove the validity of the method in paper. The paper puts forward a suggestion that the real time orbit determination technology can be used for onboard engine thrust rapid assessment.

A thruster configuration and optimization method for GEO satellite is proposed in this *** thrusters are installed on the back panel of satellite,which is not only compatible with the design of satellite subdivision structure,but also able to provide a large installation room for the payloads and components carried by the *** thruster and electric thruster were selected because they have complementary advantages and can effectively reduce propellant *** working mode and tasks of the thruster were analyzed in detail for thruster configuration,which was optimized in order to minimize propellant ***,a GEO satellite thruster was configured and optimized using this method,with results showing that the method is feasible and effective,and consequently has value for engineering applications.
