Improved performance of plasma in raw engine exhaust treatment is reported. A new type of reactor referred to as of cross-flow dielectric barrier discharge （DBD） was used, in which the gas flow is perpendicular to the corona electrode. In raw exhaust environment, the cross-flow （radial-flow） reactor exhibits a superior performance with regard to NOx removal when compared to that with axial flow of gas. Experiments were conducted at different flow rates ranging from 2 L/min to 25 L/min. The plasma assisted barrier discharge reactor has shown encouraging results in NOx removal at high flow rates.

Various dusty voids are observed in a gas discharge dusty plasma system. They appear at the earlier stage of particle growth. Both the regular and irregular voids are observed in two and three dimensions. Regular voids observed in two dimensions include circular shapes and thin ring shapes. Regular voids in three dimensions appear dome-shaped and shell-shaped.

High-power pulsed magnetron sputtering （HPPMS or HiPIMS） is an emerging coating technology that produces very dense plasmas and highly ionized sputtering atoms. This paper is focused on discharge properties, unbalanced features and temporal evolution of pulse current of the HPPMS discharge. A hollow cathode was used to suppress the scattering of charges. A coaxial coil surrounding the target was used to control the breakdownvoltage and pulse repetition frequency by varying the coil current. A Langmuir probe and an oscilloscope were used to simultaneously measure the floating potential, pulse voltage and pulse current signMs. The pulse power density in the discharge reached 10 kW/cm2 with frequencies as high as N40 Hz and a pulse width about 1~5 ms. The characteristics of the discharge evolution were analyzed using magnetron discharge dynamics.

In this paper, a new type of radio frequency （RF） excited diffusively cooled all-metal slab waveguide CO2 laser is presented, in which the waveguide channel is constructed by two aluminum side walls and two aluminum electrodes, the discharge is confined in the slab waveguide channel in terms of the voltage division structure. From this type of structure, 127-W laser power is obtained.

This paper deals with the study of experimental current intensity/voltage characteristicsof a free burning arc that appears to be singular:At low intensity current,the arc voltagedecreases until a minimum value,corresponding to a critical current intensity *** intensities higher than Ic,there is an increase of the arc voltage with the *** analysis and Pi theorem coupled with a large set of experimentaldata allow us to evaluate the main physical processes responsible for the *** low current intensity,the plasma is mostly driven by thermal conduction effectswhile at high current intensity,it is principally governed by radiation ***,theresults obtained from dimensional analysis allow to propose a 1D numerical simulationof the plasma column that gives rather good qualitative results.

Diagnosis of methane plasma, generated in an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge （DBD） microplasma jet with a quartz tube as dielectric material by a 25 kHz sinusoidal ac power source, is conducted by optical emission spectroscopy （OES）. The reactive radicals in methane plasma such as CH, C2, and Ha are detected insitu by OES. The possible dissociation mechanism of methane in diluted Ar plasma is deduced from spectra. In addition, the density of CH radical, which is considered as one of the precursors in diamond-like （DLC） film formation, affected by the parameters of input voltage and the feed gas flow rate, is emphasized. With the Boltzmann plots, four Ar atomic spectral lines （located at 675.28nm, 687.13nm, 738.40nm and 794.82nm, respectively） are chosen to calculate the electron temperature, and the dependence of electron temperature on discharge parameters is also investigated.

The magnetic rotational bands based on the configuration πh11/2^2 vh11/2^-2 in ^142Gd are investigated with the newly developed tilted axis cranking relativistic mean field （RMF） theory with and without nuclear current. The effect of the nuclear current is discussed by comparing the total Routhians, single particle levels, electromagnetic transition probabilities B（M1） and B（E2） in self-consistent tilted axis cranking RMF caIculation with those obtained without the nuclear current. The nuclear currents are found to play an important role in the magnetic rotation of nuclei.
