Objective:The aim of the present study was to examine changes of cellular homeostasis in T follicular helper(tfh)cells in secondary syphilis patients and latent ***:Thirty healthy controls(HCs),24 secondary syphilis patients and 41 latent syphilis patients were *** percentages of total tfh,ICOS+tfh,PD-1+tfh,resting tfh,effector tfh,naive tfh,effector memory tfh,central memory tfh and tfh1,tfh2,tfh17 cells in the peripheral blood were all determined by the flow ***:Comparing to the HCs,the percentage of total tfh cells was significantly higher in secondary syphilis *** the ICOS+tfh,PD-1+tfh,resting tfh,effector tfh,naive tfh,effector memory tfh,central memory tfh,tfhl,tfh2 and tfh17 *** the percentage of tfh17,ICOS+tfh and effector memory tfh cells were significantly increased in secondary syphilis patients and decreased in latent syphilis ***,the percentage of tfh2 cells were significantly increased in latent syphilis patients,while the tfhl cells were significantly decreased in secondary syphilis patients,and the percentage of PD-1+tfh cells was increased,while the naive tfh cells were decreased in the secondary syphilis patients when compared to the *** no significant change was found on the resting tfh,effector tfh and central memory tfh among the HCs and secondary syphilis patients or the latent syphilis ***:Dysregulated tfh17,ICOS+tfh or the effector memory tfh cells may play an important role in the immune evasion of the latent syphilis patients.
