drilling is an important technology for the oil industry. drilling engineering is a compulsory course for petroleum engineering students. The improvement of teaching quality is bound to enhance the professional quality and skills of the graduates of Petroleum engineering. For the problems and contradictions encountered in drilling engineering, this paper proposes a series of teaching reform measures and programs, and does initial attempt in the actual teaching, which receives very good results. With the deepening of teaching, students significantly increases interesting in learning, enhances motivation to learn and upgrades the grasp to drilling knowledge.

DETERMINATION OF ROCK-BREAKING PERFORMANCE OF HIGH-PRESSURE SUPERCRITICAL CARBON DIOXIDE JET

In this study, a well-designed experimental setup is used to determine the rock-breaking performance of a high-pressure supercritical carbon dioxide （SC-CO2） jet. Its rock-breaking performance is first compared with that of a high-pressure water jet under the same operation conditions. The effects of five major factors that affect the rock-breaking performance of the high-pressure SC-CO2 jet, i.e., the nozzle diameter, the standoff distance, the jet pressure, the rock compressive strength and the jet temperature are experimentally determined. The experimental results indicate that the rock-breaking performance of the SC-CO2 jet is significantly improved over the high-pressure water jet. It is also found that the rock-breaking performance of the SC-CO2 jet is improved with the increase of the nozzle diameter or the standoff distance, until the nozzle diameter or the standoff distance reaches a certain critical value and after that it begins to deteriorate. The rock-breaking performance of the SC-CO2 jet improves monotonically with the increase of the jet pressure, while it shows a monotonic deterioration with the increase of the rock compressive strength. In addition, it is found that, under the same working conditions, the SC-CO2 jet can always provide a better rock-breaking performance than the subcritical liquid CO2 jet.

Analysis and Design of Trial Well Mooring in Deepwater of the South China Sea

Mooring systems play an important role for semi-submersible rigs that drill in deepwater.A detailed analysis was carried out on the mooring of a semi-submersible rig that conducted a trial well drilling at a deepwater location in the South China Sea in *** rig was 30 years old and had a shallow platform with a designed maximum operating water depth of 457 *** the mooring analysis,a mooring design was given that requires upgrading of the rig’s original mooring *** upgrade included several innovations,such as installing eight larger anchors,*** the original anchors and inserting an additional 600 m of steel wires with the existing *** this was done to enhance the mooring capability of the rig in order for the rig to be held in position to conduct drilling at a water depth of 476 *** overall duration of the drilling was 50 days and the upgraded mooring system proved to be efficient in achieving the goal of keeping the rig stationary while it was drilling the trial well in the South China *** successful campaign demonstrates that an older semi-submersible rig can take on drilling in deep water after careful design and proper upgrading and modification to the original mooring system.

In order to acquire the real-time work of underground drill,promote the security and the reliability,it is necessary to effectively measure the drilling engineering parameter of drilling pressure,torque and side pressure *** uses the resistance strain sensor as a *** microvolt signal amplifier circuit is designed through analyzing the output signal of the resistance strain *** design is applied with high-precision and rail-to-rail OP AD8552 as the core chip in the microvolt signal amplifier *** experimental test,it is obtained with experimental data of amplifier ***,the data are processed and analyzed using MATLAB *** signal gain of the whole circuit is as high as 80dB,and the circuit has strong anti-interference ability and high temperature *** amplification to the signal above 1μV is good,which is satisfied with the parameter test system of drilling engineering.
