Analysis of drill pipe＇s Effect on Casing

Frictional wear of inner walls of drill pipe and casing is produced by rotational advance of drill pipe in the casing due to the joint effect of drilling fluid, temperature and contact load during drilling, among which the main wear is on the drill string. With development of drilling technology, deep well, ultradeep well, high angle well, directional well, extended reach well and horizontal well are taking more and more proportion. Meanwhile, the problem of serious frictional wear between drill pipe and casing are becoming more significant due to long time of drilling, high probability of dogleg severity, high contact normal stress between drill pipe and casing etc. Tool sticking may also occur due to large frictional resistance. Therefore, higher requirements are made on the study of how to predict and prevent the wear of drill pipe and casing during drilling. The residual strength of the worn casing is also studied by analysis of the law of drill pipe＇s effect on the casing wear in this paper.

The riserless drilling system uses drill pipe and the small diameter pipeline instead of the large diameter marine riser. The drill pipe exposed in seawater bears complex forces during drilling operation. According to the theory of mechanics of materials and structural dynamics, a dynamic model and numerical solution method of drill pipe during riserless deepwater drilling operation was established. Example analysis illustrated that the platform long-term drift has a greater impact on the response of the drill pipe. The drill pipe size has bigger affection on the lower joint of drill pipe, and it would cause the drill pipe bearing more complex force below the mud line. The bending moment of the upper and lower sections of drill pipe exposed in seawater is bigger than its middle section, it is necessary to enhance the pipe strength or increase the wall thickness of drill pipe.

Machine vision for drill string slip status detection

Slip status of drill string is system generated binary value computed by comparison of sensor generated real time hook load value with a minimum threshold value of hook load stored in measurement *** research article describes a novel method of slip status detection by machine vision technology which helps overcome the constraints of slip status detection with legacy measurement *** also helps improve the real time drilling data quality and optimize and automate drilling operations.A method to detect drill string slip status with high-resolution digital camera installed on mast near rig floor is described along with backend vision processing and communication modules,which generate binary values of slip *** binary values are transferred in real time to drilling measurement system of rig to compute other drilling parameters like bit depth,hole depth and stand *** method includes deploying active optical sensors at the rig floor,obtaining 1-D,2-D,or 3D image data,and processing it to obtain the status of drill *** measurement of slip status by machine vision helps reduce non-productive time(NPT)by reliable real time surveillance of drilling operations.

A review of Baosteel's development of steel for oil and natural gas

The development of oil and natural gas steel products at Baosteel over the past two decades is reviewed in this paper. After years of researching and developing steel products that are used in the energy industry such as drilling, exploitation, collection, transportation, and the storage of oil and natural gas, the system of composition and manufacturing techniques for Baosteel＇ s oil and natural gas steel products have been established. The oil and natural gas steel products of Baosteel consist of two major categories： the oil country tubular goods（OCTG） used underground, and the pipes used for pipeline construction on the ground. Currently, the product quality has maintained stability, and the related products have been extensively used worldwide for the exploration and transportation of oil and natural gas.
