Effective interventions to improve domain-specific social, emotional, or academic outcomes for twice-exceptional individuals who are gifted with ADHD as a disability

The demand for effective interventions to improve domain-specific academic outcomes for individuals with special needs at either end of the spectrum has existed for some *** the earlier contributions to the literature documenting gifted individuals who were simultaneously exhibiting disabilities,there has been some progress in our *** now know that in individuals with both gifts and disabilities,potentially,either or both of the exceptionalities can obscure the effects of the other,which significantly delays the average time to receive a *** delays in diagnosis detrimentally impact the the form of effective interventions without a *** purpose of this paper is t quality of life across various domains because there can be no opportunity to receive help in o determine whether effective interventions exist to improve domain-specific(i.e.,social,emotional,or academic)outcomes for people with both gifts and disabilities.A query was performed using evidence databases TRIP and PDQ for“twice-exceptional,”“Giftedness,”“Disability,”and“intervention.”The four most relevant,freely available studies in English were selected for *** identifying potential threats to validity among the studies,methodological similarities among them were strong enough to confidently conclude that not only do effective interventions exist for the population of gifted with ADHD,but the outcomes of these interventions may also carry over into other domains resulting in indirect effects.

Software-defined process-near-memory architecture using 3D hybrid bonding integration

With the unprecedented explosive growing amount of global data, the development of computing chips, which encounter bottlenecks such as power wall and memory wall, cannot satisfy the demanding requirement. This work proposes a software-defined process-near-memory(SDPNM) computing architecture implemented using 3D hybrid bonding *** software-defined chip architecture, featuring spatial computations and dynamic reconfiguration, innovates in a top-down manner to achieve high energy efficiency while maintaining flexibility after fabrication. The process-near-memory integration further advances the SDNPM chip in a bottom-up way to reduce the energy consumption of data movement while improving the bandwidth. Utilizing a relatively mature fabrication and bonding process can result in feasible solutions for both data-intensive and compute-intensive applications including digital signal processing and artificial intelligence. The logic die is fabricated in the SMIC 40 nm process and the DRAM die is fabricated in the PSMC 25 nm process. The hybrid bonding is implemented by XMC. The experimental results show that the energy efficiency of the proposed SDPNM chip is 33.1× better than the state-of-the-art FPGA ranging from 8.2× to 104.1×.

The principles that determine the organization of object representation in ventral temporal cortex (VTC) remain elusive. At one extreme, it could be proposed that the observed organization is fully determined by visual processing factors and therefore depends primarily on visual experience. Alternatively, the organization could also be shaped by nonvisual factors such as down-stream computational constraints. On this view, visual experience would not exclusively determine the organization of object representation in VTC. Here, we explore the organization of animate and inanimate object domains in VTC in total absence of visual experience. We tested 14 congenitally blind and matched sighted participants on two auditory experiments involving three object categories: animals, tools, and nonmanipulable objects. Sighted participants additionally participated in picture-viewing experiments. Both blind and sighted participants showed selectivity for large nonmanipulable objects in medial VTC, relative to animals and tools. This region overlapped with the scene-selective parahippocampal place area localized in the sighted group. The picture-viewing data in the sighted revealed additional selectivity for animals in lateral VTC, but this selectivity did not generalize to the auditory experiments in either group, suggesting that the animate-inanimate organization of VTC may be specific to the visual modality. Together these results show that the object domain organization of VTC is highly similar in blind and sighted performing auditory tasks. We conclude that the large-scale organization of high-order visual cortex may be shaped in part by down-stream computational constraints.
