Impact of Local Climate Zones on the Urban Heat and Dry Islands in Beijing:Spatial Heterogeneity and Relative Contributions

Based on the building height and density data on a 100-m resolution,hourly 2-m temperature and humidity data at83 automatic weather stations,and gridded local climate zone(LCZ)data on a 120-m resolution in urban Beijing in2020,this study first employs the semivariogram combined with building parameters to calculate spatial correlations and has identified an LCZ grid resolution of 500 m suitable for best usage of the available observation data.Then,how the spatially heterogeneous LCZs affect and contribute to the canopy urban heat island intensity(UHII)and urban dry island intensity(UDII)are quantitatively investigated.It is found that UHII is high in winter and low in summer with a unimodal diurnal variation while UDI is low in winter but high in summer with a bimodal diurnal variation.The LCZ with compact mid-rise(open high-rise)buildings exhibits the highest UHII(UDII),followed by the compact high-rise(compact low-rise),while the LCZ of scattered trees presents both the lowest UHII and the lowest UDII.The most significant difference in the UHII(UDII)among the nine LCZ types in the urban area of Beijing is2.62℃(1.1 g kg^(-1)).Area-weighted averaging analysis reveals that the open mid-rise LCZ is the most significant contributor to the UHII(UDII),immediately followed by compact mid-rise(open low-rise),with the least contribution from bare rock or paved(scattered trees).The results also indicate that beyond the intrinsic physical properties of the LCZs of a city,their area proportions cannot be overlooked in evaluating their impact on the UHI and UDI.These quantitatively findings could help urban planners to create a livable urban climate and environment by adjusting the relevant land use.

distribution pattern and geochemical analysis of rare earth elements in deep-ocean sediments

The content and distribution pattern of rare earth elements(REEs)in surface sediments from the Eastern and Western Pacifi c Ocean,the Northern and Southern Atlantic Ocean,and the Southwestern Indian Ocean were explored and the resources and geochemical characteristics of REEs in deep-ocean sediments from diff erent oceans were studied.The total REE abundances(ΣREE)in the diff erent oceans ranged as follows:Eastern Pacifi c,56.88–500.02μg/g;Western Pacifi c,290.68–439.94μg/g;Northern Atlantic,55.33–154.90μg/g;Southern Atlantic,40.83–69.30μg/g;and Southwestern Indian Ocean,20.24–64.76μg/g.Their corresponding LREE(La-Eu)/HREE(Gd-Lu)average values were 5.18,5.86,9.01,5.21,and 4.59,which indicated that the light REEs were all evidently enriched.δEu andδCe showed slight Eu-negative anomalies and signifi cant Ce-positive anomalies in all sediments.Although the contents of REEs in the sediments varied among the diff erent oceans,the distribution patterns of REEs were similar,and the correlation coeffi cient was greater than 0.9290.In the Eastern Pacifi c sediments,ΣREE showed a signifi cantly positive correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and a weak correlation with Fe.In the Western Pacifi c and Southern Atlantic sediments,ΣREE presented no obvious correlation and a weakly negative correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and Fe,respectively.ΣREE in the Southwestern Indian Ocean sediments positively correlated with Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo,Fe,and had a weakly negative correlation with Co.

The distribution pattern of metals as active centers on a substrate can influence the peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation and contaminants degradation.Herein,atomic layer deposition is applied to prepare Cu single atom(SA-Cu),cluster(C-Cu),and film(F-Cu)decorated MXene catalysts by regulating the number of deposition cycles.In comparison with SA-Cu-MXene(adsorption energy(E_(ads))=-4.236 eV)and F-Cu-MXene(E_(ads)=-3.548 eV),PMS is shown to adsorb preferably on the C-Cu-MXene surface for activation(E_(ads)=-5.435 eV),realizing higher utilization efficiency.More SO_(4)^(·-)are generated in C-Cu-MXene/PMS system with steady-state concentration and 1–3 orders of magnitude higher than those in the SA-Cu-MXene and F-Cu-MXene activated PMS systems.Particularly,the contribution of SO_(4)^(·-)oxidation to sulfamethoxazole(SMX)degradation followed the order,C-Cu-MXene(97.3%)>SA-Cu-MXene(90.4%)>FCu-MXene(71.9%),realizing the larger SMX degradation rate in the C-Cu-MXene/PMS system with the degradation rate constants(k)at 0.0485 min^(-1).Additionally,SMX degradation routes in C-Cu-MXene/PMS system are found with fewer toxic intermediates.Through this work,we highlighted the importance of guided design of heterogeneous catalysts in the PMS system.Appropriate metal distribution patterns need to be selected according to the actual water treatment demand.Metal sites could be then fully utilized to produce specific active species to improve the utilization efficiency of the oxidants.

Spatial distribution pattern of Populations of Isoetes sinensis Palmer, an Endangered Quillwort in China

The distribution pattern of Isoetes sinensis populations was investigated in relation to its biological characteristics such as age structure and regeneration mode, and the microenvironment. Contagious distribution pattern was found in populations of all sizes. Under the same climatic and site conditions, the heterogeneity of mieroenvironment resulting from the different depths of water and soil erosion significantly affecred the type and scale of distribution patterns of Isoetes sinensis populations. Even at the same site, the center and the edges of the water body had different effects on the distribution pattern of the plants. As one of the co-dominants, the distribution of Isoetes sinensis in communities was affected by other dominant species, especially by the evergreen grass species. Water is the major factor determining the distribution pattern of lsoetes sinensis in various communities. The pattern of contagious distribution was observed in different size of populations of I.sinensis, however the Lloyd indices obtained for the populations of various sizes differed significantly.

In this study,we determined six“hotspots”for avian biodiversity conservation in China.We analyzed the distribution patterns of 183 threatened bird species in China in conjunction with geographical data to produce a distribution map that shows the concentrations of threatened species.The six biodiversity hotspots are:the western Tianshan Mountains;the Qilian and Hengduan mountains;southern Anhui,southern Jiangsu,and the Zhejiang Hills;the Songliao Plain and the northern region of the North China Plain;the island of Taiwan;and the island of Hainan.Based on our analysis of a species–habitat matrix,species were determined to be distributed mainly in broadleaved forest,grassland and meadows,urban and agricultural areas,wetlands,and bush.Most species were commonly found to have a range of three to five different habitat types.Apart from the six biodiversity hotspots,six ecological clusters were determined.Protection strategies indicating different levels of habitat priority among the biodiversity hotspots were also recommended.

The housing price has been paid close attention by people in all walks of life,and the development of big data provides a new data environment for the study of urban housing price.Housing price data of four national central cities (Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and Wuhan) are taken as research samples.With the help of software GIS,exploratory spatial data analysis method is used to depict the spatial distribution pattern of urban housing price,and commonness and difference of spatial distribution of housing price are explored.The conclusions are as below:①regional imbalance of housing price in national central cities is significant.②Spatial distribution of urban housing price in Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and Wuhan presents a polycentric pattern,and there is obvious spatial agglomeration.③The internal change of housing price in different cities has significant spatial difference.Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and Wuhan are taken as typical city samples for research,with reference and practical significance,which could help to effectively predict spatial development trend of housing prices in other first and second tier cities.The research aims to provide certain reference for the government implementing real estate control policies according to local conditions,project location and reasonable pricing of real estate developers.

Medicinal plants are the primary material basis for disease prevention and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The conservation and sustainable utilization of these medicinal plants is critical for the development of the TCM industry.However,wild medicinal plant resources have sharply declined in recent decades.To ameliorate the shortage of medicinal plant resources,it is essential to explore the development potential of the TCM industry in different geographical regions.For this purpose,we examined the spatial distribution of commonly used medicinal plants in China,the number of Chinese medicinal material markets,and the number of TCM decoction piece enterprises.Specifically,multispecies superimposition analysis and Thiessen polygons were used to reveal the optimal range for planting bulk medicinal plants and the ideal regions for building Chinese medicinal material markets,respectively.Furthermore,we quantitatively analyzed mismatches between the spatial distribution of commonly used medicinal plant richness,Chinese medicinal material markets,and TCM decoction piece enterprises.We found that the areas suitable for growing commonly used medicinal plants in China were mainly distributed in Hengduan Mountain,Nanling Mountain,Wuling Mountain,and Daba Mountain areas.The Thiessen polygon network based on Chinese medicinal material market localities showed there are currently fewer markets in southwestern,northwestern,and northeastern China than in central and southern China.TCM decoction piece enterprises are concentrated in a few provinces,such as Hebei and Jiangxi.We found that the distribution of commonly used medicinal plants,Chinese medicinal material markets and TCM decoction piece enterprises are mismatched in Henan,Shaanxi,Hunan,Hubei,Zhejiang,Fujian,Chongqing,and Xizang.We recommend strengthening development of the TCM industry in Henan,Hunan,Zhejiang,Shaanxi,Hubei,Chongqing,Fujian,and Xizang;building more Chinese medicinal material markets in southwestern,northwestern,and northeastern China;and e

Impact of Urban Public Service Facilities on distribution pattern of Housing Price

The impact of different public service facilities is obtained by investigating the infl uence of public service facilities on distribution pattern of housing price in 25 cities.According to the survey results,public education service facilities have the highest weight and the greatest impact,which also refl ects the root of“school district housing fever”from the side.Public sports service facilities have the lowest score when compared with other options.This is not because public sports service facilities are not important,but is determined by actual situation of social development and actual living standard of residents in China.From the improvement and enhancement of urban public service facilities,the construction of public service facilities should be convenient for people’s education,health,culture and entertainment.

Plant diversity of Hyrcanian relict forests:An annotated checklist,chorology and threat categories of endemic and near endemic vascular plant species

In this paper a critical annotated checklist of 256 endemic and near endemic species belonging to 152 genera and 50 families of flowering plants known from Hyrcanian relict forests is presented.distribution maps of taxa,elevational range,number of known records,chorotypes,life forms,IUCN threat categories and habitat types are also provided.The chorotypes are categorized into eight main patterns:1)the Omni-Hyrcanian pattern(OH),2)West Hyrcanian pattern(WH),3)Manjil-Rudbar pattern(MR),4)Central Hyrcanian pattern(CH),5)Central and East Hyrcanian pattern(CEH),6)East Hyrcanian pattern(EH),7)Alborz-Hyrcanian pattern(AH),and 8)Euxino-Hyrcanian pattern(XH).The richness and distribution maps were generated based on 5408 records gained from herbarium specimens and literature records.The life form spectra show that the majority of taxa(54.7%)belong to hemicryptophytes,followed by the tuberous,bulbous and parasitic geophytes with 45 species(17.6%)and phanerophytes with 28 taxa(10.9%).The conservation status of species according to IUCN criteria indicates that 30 taxa are Critically Endangered,52 taxa Endangered,30 taxa Vulnerable,25 taxa Near Threatened and 81 taxa are of Least Concern.Our present data were not sufficient to evaluate 38 taxa that are categorized here as Data Deficient.The new combination of Leutea translucens(=Peucedanum translucens)is validated with inclusion of Peucedanum hyrcanicum as its synonym.The disjunct occurrence of the Caucasian species Gentiana grossheimii is reported from the eastern parts of the Hyrcanian forests in Iran for the first time.We conclude that(i)the Hyrcanian forests and associated habitats in the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains harbour tremendous floristic diversity of high conservation priority,and(ii)the Hyrcanian forest zone is an important and unique center of endemism within the Euro-Siberian region that should be considered a floristic province with a large number of relict species.

Molecular phylogeny and identification of agromyzid leafminers in China,with a focus on the worldwide genus Liriomyza(Diptera:Agromyzidae)

Leaf-mining flies(Diptera:Agromyzidae)are a diverse family of small-bodied insects that feed on living plant tissues as larvae.Various species in this family are considered globally invasive and have caused great agricultural economic losses.In China,economically important vegetable crops have been seriously damaged by these pest insects,especially by species of the genus Liriomyza.However,these species are difficult to differentiate because of their morphological similarities,and the Chinese fauna remains poorly known.To explore the relevant pest species in China and their phylogeny,agromyzid leafminers were collected from 2016 to 2019,and identified based on morphological characteristics and DNA barcodes.In total,27 species from five genera of Agromyzidae were sampled and identified,including 16species of Liriomyza.Both mitochondrial and nuclear genes were used to reconstruct their phylogenetic relationships and estimate the divergence time.Highly congruent and well-supported phylogenetic trees were obtained using the Bayesian inference and maximum-likelihood methods.This analysis revealed two main clades in Liriomyza,and clade 2was inferred to have diverged from clade 1 approximately 27.40 million years ago(95%highest posterior density:23.03–31.52 million years ago)in the Oligocene.Differences were observed in the distribution patterns and host associations between the Liriomyza clades.Clade 2 species are distributed in cool,high-latitude environments,suggesting that they may have evolved into a cool-adapted lineage.
