In this paper we introduce a family of multivariate distributions,which consists of scale mixtures of symmetrized Dirichlet distributions,This family is a symmetrization of multivariate Liouville distributions and contains the well-known spherically symmetric distributions as a special case.The basic properties of this family such as stochastic representation,probability density functions,marginal and conditional distributions and components’independence are studied.A criterion of the invariance of statistics is also given.

The global reaction rates for industrial high-temperature shift reaction catalyst WB-2, cylindrically shaped and measuring φ9×7mm, have been investigated in an internal-recycle gradientless reactor at pressures of 7×10~5 and 13×10~5 Pa (gauge). The pore-size distribution and the tortuosity factor have also been measured.in this part of the paper, by using the intrinsic kinetic equation obtained at atmospheric pressure for conditions under pressure, the numerical solutions of the effectiveness factors for 17 groups of experimental data of the global rates have been computed according to the simplified multieomponent diffusion model presented in the second part of the paper, and the results compared satisfactorily with experimentally observed values. It is therefore proposed that experiments for globdl rates under pressure would not be necessary for investigating the kinetic behavior under pressure for reactions for which the operating pressures are not too high such as the case for high-temperature shift rcaction.

Hydrodynamic characteristics of rotating perforated disk contactor(RPDC)were studied with emulsionwater system.The emulsion was dispcrsed in water and its holdup was measured.The effects of columndimensions and operating conditions on holdup and characteristic velocity were studied.By using the methodof dimensional analysis,the authors obtained two experimental correlations for estimating holdup and characteristic velocity respectively.Drop size distribution was studied photographically.The experimental results showedthat drop size distribuiion could be described by upper-limit log-normal distribution.
