Passive cooling permits thermal management of near-zero energy consumption and low CO_(2)*** significant progress of passive radiative coolers,comfortable and steady temperatures can hardly be achieved due to their inadequate daytime cooling power(below 0.2 k W m^(-2))yet over-cooling at ***,we provide a bright-white hydrogel that enables ondemand passive cooling by virtue of adaptive water evaporation and high solar reflectance up to 86.1%.Notably,theoretical cooling power determined by the evaporating rate can reach 1.25 k W m^(-2)in daytime but decreases dramatically at *** sub-ambient temperature reduction of 11-13℃at noon yet nearly none at night are realized,with the diurnal temperature difference narrowed ***,effective cooling using colored hydrogels,and transition from evaporative cooling to solar heating have been *** novel evaporative cooling approach will pave the way for smart passive coolers of high efficiency,colorful appearance,and low cost.

Failure analysis of corrosion cracking and simulated testing for a fluid catalytic cracking unit

The failure of a fluid catalysis and cracking unit (FCCU) in a Chinese refinery was investigated by using nondestructive detection methods, fracture surface examination, hardness measurement, chemical composition and corrosion products analysis. The results showed that the failure was caused by the dew point nitrate stress corrosion cracking. For a long operation period, the wall temperature of the regenerator in the FCCU was below the fume dew point. As a result, an acid fume NOx-SOx-H2O medium present- ed on the surface, resulting in stress corrosion cracking of the component with high residual stress. In order to confirm the relative conclusion, simulated testing was conducted in laboratory, and the results showed similar cracking characteristics. Finally, some sug- gestions have been made to prevent the stress corrosion cracking of an FCCU from re-occurring in the future.

Influence of annealing conditions on selective oxidation of boron in BH steel sheets

Annealing experiments were conducted on BH steel to which 10 × 10^-6 boron was added. The annealing temperature,holding time, H2 content, and dew point were varied in the experiments in order to investigate their influences on the selective oxidation of boron. A higher annealing temperature and longer holding time is found to lead to a higher concentration of boron at the extreme surface, which reaches saturation after the steel sheet is held for a critical period of time that depends on the annealing temperature. The effect of H2 content on the selective oxidation of boron depends on the annealing temperature and dew point. It has almost no influence on the external oxidation of boron when the sheet is annealed at 820 ~Cin an atmosphere with a dew point of -40℃. At a dew point of - 10℃, a lower H2 content results in a lower peak value of boron in the subsurface area but deeper internal oxidation of boron. An increase in the dew point from -40℃ to - 10℃ can significantly promote internal oxidation of boron at depths of 50 - 200 nm from the surface. With the suppression of external oxidation of boron as well as manganese and silicon, a relatively clean surface with reduced and refined oxides can be achieved by increasing the dew point.
