This paper presents a current-mode 6–9 GHz RF transmitter for MB-OFDM UWB systems. The proposed current-mode transmitter consists of current-mode IQ LPF, current mirror amplifier, IQ up-conversion mixer (up-mixer), differential power driver amplifier (PA) and high-speed divider with LO buffers for generating IQ LO signals. All circuits are designed to possess high linearity and wide bandwidth. The transmitter is fabricated in TSMC 0.13 μm 1P8M RF CMOS technology with a die area of 1.56 mm2. Measurement results show that a maximum output power of -0.7 dBm with an LO leakage/sideband rejection ratio (LOL/SB RR) around -33/ - 35 dBc is achieved, and that this transmitter excels the traditional voltage-mode counterpart in terms of high linearity (about +1 dBm output 1-dB compression point, +10 dBm output IP3 in average) with comparable power consumption (drawing 48 mA current from 1.2 V supply).

We propose a novel bias circuit, which can help a promising current-mode signaling （CMS） scheme （CMS-bias） enhance the robustness against process variation but consume less energy than the original bias circuit in this scheme. Monte Carlo and process corner analysis are carried out using HSPICE in the Global Foundry 0.18 μm process. Monte Carlo analysis shows that the CMS-bias with proposed bias circuit （CMS-proposed） and the CMS-bias with original circuit （CMS-original） have the same robustness against the variation, but the former offer a 9% reduction in power consumption. The process corner analysis shows that the average power and delay of the CMS-proposed don＇t change much in different process corners, especially in FS and SF corner. In addition, parameter sensitivity analysis shows that the process variation in long wires has little influence on the delay of the CMS scheme, but the variation in the effective length of MOSFETs influences the performance of the CMS scheme very much.

A current-mode front-end circuit with low voltage and low power for analog hearing aids is presented. The circuit consists of a current-mode AGC（automatic gain control） and a current-mode adaptive *** with its conventional voltage-mode counterparts,the proposed front-end circuit has the identified features of frequency compensation based on the state space theory and continuous gain with an exponential *** frequency compensation which appears only in the DSP unit of the digital hearing aid can upgrade the performance of the analog hearing aid in the field of low-frequency hearing *** continuous gain should meet the requirement of any input amplitude level,while its exponential characteristic leads to a large input dynamic range in accordance with the dB SPL（sound pressure level）.Furthermore,the front-end circuit also provides a discrete knee point and discrete compression ratio to allow for high calibration *** features can accommodate users whose ears have different pain *** advantage of the current-mode technique,the MOS transistors work in the subthreshold region so that the quiescent current is ***,the input current can be compressed to a low voltage signal for processing according to the compression principle from the current-domain to the ***,the objective of low voltage and low power（48μW at 1.4 V） can be easily achieved in a high threshold-voltage CMOS process of 0.35μm（V（TON）＋｜V（TOP）｜≈1.35 V）.The THD is below -45 *** fabricated chip only occupies the area of 1×0.5 mm^2 and 1×1 mm^2.

A fully integrated soft-start circuit for DC-DC buck converters is presented. The proposed high speed soft-start circuit is made of two sections： an overshoot suppression circuit and an inrush current suppression circuit. The overshoot suppression circuit is presented to control the input of the error amplifier to make output voltage limit increase in steps without using an external capacitor. A variable clock signal is adopted in the inrush current suppression circuit to increase the duty cycle of the system and suppress the inrush current. The DC-DC converter with the proposed soft-start circuit has been fabricated with a standard 0.13 um CMOS process. Experimental results show that the proposed high speed soft-start circuit has achieved less than 50 us start-up time. The inductor current and the output voltage increase smoothly over the whole load range.

By applying switch-signal theory, the interaction between MOS transmission switch-ing transistor and current signal in current-mode CMOS circuits is analyzed, and the theory oftransmission current-switches which is suitable to current-mode CMOS circuits is proposed. Thecircuits, such as ternary full-adder etc., designed by using this theory have simpler circuit struc-tures and correct logic functions. It is confirmed that this theory is efficient in guiding the logicdesign of current-mode CMOS circuits at switch level.

This article presents an active-only current-mode universal biquad filter performing three standard functions: low-pass, high-pass and band-pass function, which can be readily modified to achieve the rest functions (band-stop and all-pass). The circuit principle is based on active-only circuit designed by using differentiators which are constructed from current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA) cooperating with an internally frequency compensated operational amplifier (OA). The features of the circuit are that: the pole frequency and quality factor can be independently tuned via the input bias currents and it is ideally temperature-insensitive, its circuit description is very simple, consisting of 3 CCCCTAs and 2 operational amplifiers, and the proposed circuit is very appropriate for further developing into integrated circuit architecture. The PSpice simulation results are shown. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation.

A versatile current-mode biquadratic filter using three operational amplifiers and nine passive elements is proposed. By suitably choosing the output branch, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, bandstop and allpass transfer functions are realized simultaneously without changing the circuit configuration and elements. Two circuits, one is for low frequency application and the other for high frequency, are proposed. The center frequency, quality factor and gain constants of the circuit can be tuned independently. Simulated results show that the circuits work successfully.

By applying switch-signal theory, the theory of transmission current-switches based on symmetric ternary logic is proposed, this theory is suitable to design symmetric ternary current-mode CMOS circuits. The symmetric ternary current-mode CMOS circuits designed by using this theory not only have simpler circuit structures and correct logic functions, but also can process bidirectional signals.

Basing on the state variable method, a block diagram of the current-mode biquad active circuit was proposed, whose integrators were realized using three kinds of active elements such as operational amplifier, second generation current conveyors and operational transconduc-tance amplifiers-electric capacity. The characteristics of each circuit were analyzed.
