Social transformations have been changed in thinking and observable current religious institutions in contemporary architectural manifestations. Likewise, observed these changes in religious buildings of the past, they were current and contemporary in its own time, which has allowed them to remain in force in its architectural spatiality and its urban relationships, serving as the historical bridge 1;hat allows analyzing the contemporary perspective in Mexico and particularly in Yucatan. The goal of this paper is to carry out a contemporary look to the interior and exterior of the temples in Yucatan colonial architecture to establish the process of change and permanence of spatiality and volumes that have allowed liturgy procedures as well as the way of approach to the sacredness of the Catholic communities from the colonial period to the present day. On the other hand, interest to establish, in particular, as the colonials religious buildings have been maintained in force and have appreciated for religious service to continue and in some cases, as they have given other kinds of services while maintaining its primordial spatiality.

Monitoring and assessment of monuments of cultural heritage is just a small part of all measures necessary for their protection and preservation. Many of these monuments are built of stone and the binder used to bond the construction blocks after a lengthy period of time loses its properties. The loss of binding material or changes in its properties substantially endangers the stability of the monuments thus constituting a menace not only for the visitors, but also for the conservation work. One of such monuments is the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Egypt. In this pyramid different artificial compositions are used as binder and its application in different areas of the pyramid is uneven and almost undistinguishable. Currently it is only possible to appraise the state of preservation of the mortar as a result of weathering process. This research allows identifying up to six weathering types and their intensities. This typology was developed on several sample areas verifying its validity in situ. Since there is no possibility to carry out direct instrumental measurements or take any samples, the classification developed is just empirical and not general. However, it provides relevant support for the development of conservation plans.

＂Huge intelligent structure＂ was built by the Mughal Heroes in this Subcontinent. It was the process to prevent and to secure a city as well as the territory from any kind of disruption and disintegration through the fortified walled profile. The strategies, approach, and positioning of those forts were governed by the contextual specification. All different forts of Mughals Empire had unusual notion of accomplishment. Fort architecture in the subcontinent was initially developed by the Mughals to protect the territory from the enemy. Later, those forts became huge and complex. The planning approach and the morphology of the fort architecture were justified according to the relative factor. The Mughal Fort is a Medieval-era building. The Mughal Fort improves the city＇s defensive strength and provides some culture at every turn, Building Walls is a prerequisite to settle the Mughal Fort. The Mughals were concern about environment. Mughals ruled most of the subcontinent until the mid-19th. During their rule they constructed elaborate forts across the countryside which served as administrative centers and living quarters for the occupiers. Bengal became a province of the Mughal Empire and was ruled from Delhi by the governors of Bengal （1576）.a Bengali river fort experienced lots of local and traditional influences only lbr being the river fort, stating from the component, elements of tbrts, and formal profile as well. Undoubtedly, Bengal conceived a different kind of river oriented fort, which has distinct characters. Even in the case of this fort formation, the Mughal had some strategic planning and morphology for spread city beyond the fort wall. The objective of the research is solely to identify distinguished characteristics and context specification and to analyze the morphology of the four-river fort architecture of East Bengal （Bangladesh）.

Influence of Air Pollution on the Deterioration of Monuments and Museum Collections

The time has come to recognize the extreme importance of the archaeological sites in Jordan. They provide a wealth evidence and precise information regarding ancient civilizations and cultures. The safeguarding of this cultural heritage is one of the most urgent priorities, that involve the proper conservation and preservation methods of all artifacts and buildings that have an important artistic and historic value. Conservation is a whole field in regarding the care and treatment of valuable artifacts, both movable and immovable. It has two aspects：（1） the control of the environment--to minimize the decay of artifacts and materials and （2） the treatment of these--in order to stop or slow down any deterioration and to stabilize them where possible against further dilapidation. The museum environment is a limited space dedicated not only to exhibition but also to the appropriate conservation of works of art. This article presents an overview of the types of damage and deterioration that air pollution causes to indoor cultural heritage materials and monuments. It identifies the main damaging air pollutants from outdoor sources to be sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and sulphide gases.

The present study aims to evaluate the environmental effect on fungal community composition associated with biodeterioration occurring in stones （soapstone） at two distinct locations in Minas Gerais State, Brazil： Congonhas city and Sanctuary of Cara^a. Four collections of fungal communities over one year were obtained from both research sites from the soapstone block surfaces exposed for over two decades. The molecular diversity profile of the fungal community at the two localities was obtained by DGGE （Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis）, and the genomes of the most representative population were sequenced. DGGE showed the formation of two clusters with filamentous fungal communities. Sequencing of the most representative bands revealed the presence of fungi associated with the biodeterioration of soapstone. In addition, many of the identified species were associated with photobionts that could generate lichens, indicating that environmental characteristics affect the occurrence of filamentous fungi, which leads to biodeterioration of stones. Authors＇ study focused on an environmental variation of an extreme habitat for fungi associated with soapstone in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil and identified the presence of interesting rock-inhabiting fungal communities including species related to lichens, which can accelerate the deterioration of stones by the production of organic acids.

Possibilities for Intercultural Cooperation Development in cultural Centres

Intercultural cooperation takes place within a country and among countries. The level of cooperation is macro, meso and micro, depending on the nature and strength of the organisation. Intercultural cooperation is carried out by various cultural and educational institutions. cultural centre is one of very few cultural organisations, having few analogues in other countries, cherishing, preserving and supporting ethnical culture and creating state image through intercultural cooperation. Thus, a scientific issue examined in the article is intercultural cooperation and communication in the activities of various cultural centres, analysing the macro, meso and micro levels. The quantitative research, conducted in eight cultural centres operating in the border areas of Lithuania, Belarus and the Kaliningrad Region （Russia）, i.e. Kybartai, Pagegiai, Svencionys, Lazdijai, Pelesa, RimdZi^nai, Sovetskas and Gusev, helped to identify the intercultural levels of these cultural centres and their communities. Estimating different circumstances of the activity of Lithuanian cultural centres and cultural organisations operating in the Kaliningrad and Belarus border areas （Lithuanian cultural centres/Lithuanian communities）, a comparative analysis revealed the key features of cooperation between the community and the cultural centres/Lithuanian organisations. The study also analysed the patterns of intercultural cooperation.

This paper contributes to depict the current pattern of applications of digital 3D models for professional research and practice, and for broader dissemination of cultural heritage. Passing from a general review to the illustration of the background project, named MUSINT, the authors underline the objectives. The present case study primarily aims to share information about valuable archaeological collections which have little visibility. To enhance the project＇s contents, which include a whole set of different artifacts, the authors have reproduced high resolution, faithful and measurable digital models on one side, and on the other, lower resolution and geometrically simplified models are yet completed and very close to reality. The former are meant to implement a scholars＇ archive for further scientific activity. The latter to provide content for virtual exhibitions on the Web or on stand-alone interfaces situated in the actual physical museum spaces. The data acquisition and post-processing methods which have been tested and chosen are here briefly described. Hence, the authors then give an account of the most recurrent problematic issues of the established work-flow and how they should be solved. Touched instances are the delicate placing of the artifacts, which must be digitized, in relation to the triangulation-based laser scanner＇s functionality, the refining operations in order to build a coherent single polygon mesh, the most effective ways to deal with unavoidable missing parts or defected textures in the generated model and so on.

The Role of Community-Based Ecotourism in Biodiversity Conservation in the Mount Oku Area, Cameroon

Forests are biodiversity hotspots which provide livelihood and act as safety nets for adjacent communities. Increasing dependence on forest is threatening this biodiversity. Ecotourism, a biodiversity conservation strategy has the potential to restore degraded habitat, and create socio-cultural and economic benefits that improve communities’ livelihoods. This study focused on the role of community-based ecotourism in biodiversity conservation in the Mount Oku forest, of the North West region of Cameroon. The study identified and ranked livelihood activities that led to biodiversity destruction, assessed ecotourism potentials and conservation practices, identified ecotourism benefits and assessed household income levels before and after the institution of ecotourism. We randomly selected three communities from the study area. The study was guided by the Forest Management Plan, the Simple Management Plan of the Kilum/Ijim forest project and the concept of Biosphere Reservation. Descriptive statistics were simple percentages presented on tables, while the inferential statistics of Wilcoxon rank test was used to analyze the data collected for the study. Our findings reveal that, the livelihood activities that led to biodiversity destruction include agriculture, logging, fuelwood collection and grazing. Ecotourism potentials/conservation strategies were nature-based, education-based, culture-based, and agriculture-based;value chain was integrated in all these aspects which enhanced livelihood diversification. The benefits include business opportunities, infrastructure development, and forest regeneration. Income level generated after the institution of ecotourism was higher than the level of income before (Z = -1442, p = 0.001). Clear indicators need to be established to measure long-term project effectiveness in biodiversity conservation and livelihood sustainability.

Past earthquake disasters in Greece, during the last thirty years, demonstrate that the severity of destruction is not only due to the intensity of the seismic event but also to the urbanization of the affected region and the vulnerability of certain types of buildings. Considerable damage was sustained by both old unreinforced masonry structures as well as by relatively new multistory reinforced concrete structures with ＂soft story＂ at their ground floor level. The most important observations made during six past earthquake disasters are presented in a summary form and discussed. The most remarkable case of extensive structural damage was caused from the resent Athens 1999 earthquake. The consequent discussion focuses on the following issues：（1） Classification of structural damage and their underlying causes. （2） Repair and strengthening of damaged structures. （3） Upgrade the seismic design. （4） Plans for earthquake preparedness. （5） Assessing the vulnerability of certain type of structures （schools, hospitals, public buildings etc）. （6） Education specialized in earthquake engineering. （7） The enrichment of the strong motion data base.
