The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)has posed a serious threat to global public health,calling for the development of safe and effective prophylactics and therapeutics against infection of its causative agent,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),also known as 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV).The CoV spike(S)protein plays the most important roles in viral attachment,fusion and entry,and serves as a target for development of antibodies,entry inhibitors and ***,we identified the receptor-binding domain(RBD)in SARS-CoV-2 S protein and found that the RBD protein bound strongly to human and bat angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)***-CoV-2 RBD exhibited significantly higher binding affinity to ACE2 receptor than SARS-CoV RBD and could block the binding and,hence,attachment of SARS-CoV-2 RBD and SARS-CoV RBD to ACE2-expressing cells,thus inhibiting their infection to host ***-CoV RBD-specific antibodies could crossreact with SARS-CoV-2 RBD protein,and SARS-CoV RBD-induced antisera could cross-neutralize SARS-CoV-2,suggesting the potential to develop SARS-CoV RBD-based vaccines for prevention of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV infection.

Background:Hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD)has recently emerged in the Asia-Pacific *** 71(EV71)is one of major pathogens of *** EV71 vaccines at attempted to develop to control fatal HFMD ***:To investigate the long-term effects on immunity and the efficacy of an inactivated enterovirus 71(EV71)***:Volunteers of a sub-cohort from Guangxi Province in China were randomly administered either the vaccine or a placebo at days 0 and 28 in a phase III clinical trial and were observed for the following two *** serum samples were obtained from this sub-cohort composed of initial 1,100 and 350 subjects at end to evaluate the immune response of two ***-induced immune effects,including neutralizing antibody(NAb)titers and cross-protection against EV71,were tested for different ***:Although this sub-cohort showed the rate of drop-out more than 60%till two years,15 and none of EV71-infected cases were observed respectively in the placebo-controlled group and the vaccine-immunized *** seroconversion rates in total of 161 subjects of the immunized group remained greater than 95%at the end of ***,the geometric mean titers of NAbs(anti-genotype C4)were 81.0(6-to 11-month-olds),98.4(12-to 23-month-olds),95.0(24-to 35-month-olds)and 81.8(36-to 71-month-olds)at day 360 after ***,they rose to 423.1,659.0,545.0 and 321.9,respectively,on day 540 post-immunization(p.i.),and similar levels were maintained on day720 *** IFN-γ/IL-4-specific responses to the C4 genotype of the EV71 strain and the cross-neutralization reactivity against the major EV71 genotype strains were notable in the vaccine group compared with the placebo ***:The results appear to be consistent with protective clinical efficacy and a dynamic immune response against the majority of the predominant circulating EV71 strains.
