In China,the northeastern region has preserved many valuable modern built heritage buildings,which are undergoing difficult exploratory protection during the industrial and urbanisation *** Dalian city as a case study,this article retraces the history of Dalian’s opening up and colonial management from the perspective of urban planning and historic district protection and management *** article sorts out the influence of national and local institutional policies on Dalian’s urban construction and development to analyse the past evolution,current problems and internal causes of the renovation and protection of Dalian’s typical historic *** influence is mainly reflected in the lack of protection and damage done to unofficial heritage,the disconnection between historic districts and the surrounding environments and urban textures,and the Chinese-style transformation and economic decline of exotic *** paper calls for attention to and the rapid clarification of the built heritage list,the improvement of planning and protection systems and related supporting policies,and a focus on the protection of the authenticity of colonial *** paper provides strategic guidance for improving the protection of historic districts in Dalian in Northeast China and hopes to serve as a reference for the protection of built heritage in other nonfamous historic and cultural cities.

Relationship Between a Teacher Educator's Questions and the Development of Prospective Teachers' critical thinking

Purpose:This study explores the relationships between the cognitive demands of the questions asked by a teacher educator(TE)and prospective teachers'(PT)capacity for critical thinking(CT).Design/Approach/Methods:Participants comprised a TE and 32 *** cognitive demands of the TE's questions and PTs'CT were analyzed using a systematic observation ***:Results indicate that there are tangible connections between the increasing mental demand of TE questions and PTs'higher-order cognitive *** PTs achieved higherorder CT when the TE asked more cognitively demanding *** instance,when the TE's questions were pitched at the cognitive demand levels-namely,the analyze,evaluate,and/or create levels—the PTanswers were longer and reflected higher CT,such as inductive reasoning,suggesting new ways of thinking,or legitimating the arguments of ***,results suggest that intentionally subjecting PTs to sustained higher cognitive demands via questions may help them reach their optimal CT ***/Value:Although proposed teaching strategies have been invaluable in proposing content-specific interventions for fostering the CT of university students,how lecturers should use their questions to conduct such interventions has been *** study addresses this gap.

The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China has issued three guideline documents to encourage inquiry teaching to help students develop their ability to question,which is a defining feature of critical *** of the documents have clearly stated that English subject teaching should focus on building students’thinking *** thinking is an essential feature of building thinking capacity and a key element of the core competencies the English subject seeks to *** research measures the performance of students of two high school classes in the exams conducted at the beginning,in the middle,and at the end of the experiment period during which inquiry teaching was applied to enhance students’critical thinking *** experiment results show that inquiry teaching can improve students’academic performance in English study and help them better develop their language *** implementation of the inquiry design in teaching listening,reading,and writing conforms to the law that governs the development of critical thinking,and the adoption of inquiry teaching can promote the development of critical thinking.

The education reform of integrating ideological and political theories in all courses is crucial in fostering virtue through *** the new era,foreign language courses are increasingly prominent in moral *** a language is not just about mastering its language form but also about critically examining the cultural connotations and thinking patterns embedded within ***,cultivating students’critical thinking skills should be a key focus in foreign language ***,this paper examines the importance of fostering students’critical thinking in foreign language ***,considering the characteristics of Chinese college foreign language courses,we propose that if we want to cultivate critical thinking among students through foreign language courses,we need to effect pattern transformations across four aspects:teaching philosophy,teaching content,teaching methodology,and teaching *** transformations also present requirements for foreign language *** should focus on enhancing their comprehensive literacy,including ideological and political literacy,teaching design skills,and the ability to integrate teaching materials with logical *** China’s Standards of English Language Ability(the CSE)serves as an important reference indicator for implementing these transformations.

Objective:High-quality and successful nursing care delivery in a variety of situations requires critical thinking training and professional *** present study aimed to investigate critical thinking disposition,professional commitment,and the relationship between these 2 variables among ***:As a result of stratified random sampling,201 nurses were enrolled in the present cross-sectional *** were gathered using a socio-demographic form,the critical thinking Disposition Inventory(CTDI),and the Nurses'Professional Commitment Scale(NPCS).Results:Although the critical thinking disposition scores were at a moderate level(115.70±13.55),the mean score for professional commitment was high(91.37±11.77).A positive correlation was found between critical thinking disposition and professional commitment(r=0.67,P=0.001).Conclusions:Nursing managers are urged to employ strategies to enhance nurses'critical thinking disposition and professional commitment.

To explore the present status of critical thinking and its relevant factors among undergraduates.A stratified random sampling was used to select 1013 undergraduates from 7 full-time colleges in Guangdong *** were investigated with California critical thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV)and a Self-Compiled Personal General Information Questionnaire.(1)The total score of CTDI-CV was(254.16±38.80).The undergraduates in the four levels of critical thinking of comprehensive strong,relatively strong,contradictory scope and serious opposition accounted for 1.78%,5.31%,87.4%and 5.51%of this group,respectively.(2)Multiple stepwise linear regression showed that the total score of CTDI-CV was positively correlated with the following 10 factors such as grade,family economic status,part-time experience,the teaching method used most commonly,like reading logic books,like reading reviews or essays,father’s warmth,mother’s warmth,openness and responsibility(β=.142 to.701,all Pcritical thinking among undergraduates is relatively *** Students’critical thinking may be related to many factors such as family rearing,school education and personal characteristics.

In the age of algorithms,planning theory study has gradually deviated from its original purpose under the influence of information technology,resulting in the problems of dogmatic thinking and passive *** on the concept of problem space,this paper tries to sort out the main procedure of theoretical planning studies and trace the roots of the above problems through the suspicion and introspection of *** line with the philosophical speculations on the primacy of cognition and the primacy of ethics from the perspectives of epistemology and ideology,it discusses the cores and the values of planning theory study and concludes that humanistic philosophy,utilitarianism,arithmetic operation,and professional context would reorient planning theory study back to its original track.
