Spirometra erinaceieuropaei is a diphyllobothriid cestode whose adult stage occurs mainly in cat-like carnivores,but occasionally in canids and *** conducted the survey on from Rana nigromaculata and Rana rugulosa in Hunan *** is the first report of *** infections in frogs in Hunan province,with the plerocercoids being recovered from infection of different parts in *** infection of frogs in different districts is *** average infection rate in different frogs is 24.2%(35/153).The infection rate of different parts in frog showed 6.5%(anterior limb),20.3%(hind limb),5.9%(trunk)and 6.5%(internal organs),*** species of Sparganum have been identified by the method of *** study determined partial sequences of the cox1 gene and compared them to sequence data from the CenBank/EMBL/DDBJ nucleotide sequence *** facts indicate that all isolates of *** used in this study,which were collected from Hunan province,belong to the same *** on cox1 gene sequences,genus Spirometra is clearly separate from the genus Diphyllobothrium. It seems that the genus Spirometra is not a synonym of the genus Diphyllobothrium.

Infection of Taenia asiatica in a Bai people in Dali

Objective: Human taeniasis is caused by 3 species of taeniid tapeworms, T. solium, T. saginata, and T. asiatica. In the present study, we are trying to report a human case of T. asiatica infection by genetic analyses based on the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1(cox1) and the cytochrome b(cytb) genes. A patient(Bai nationality) was found to have the symptoms of taeniasis with discharged proglottids in Dali, China. Method: Genomic DNA(g DNA) was extracted from the proglottid of the tapeworm. Purified g DNA was used as a template for PCR for cox1 and cytb and the amplification products were fractionated using 1%(w/v) agarose gel, purified and then sequenced, respectively. The sequences for cox1 and cytb were aligned with the corresponding sequences of tapeworms obtained from Gen Bank database. Phylogenetic analyses were performed using the neighbor-joining(NJ) method by MEGA. Results: we observed 1620 bp nucleotide sequence from the mitochondrial cox1 gene of tapeworm identity of 99%(1 different base) with T. asiatica and 96%(65 different bases) with T. saginata, respectively;1068 bp sequence of the mitochondrial cytb gene had an identity of 99%(2 different bases) with T. asiatica and 96%(43 different bases) with T. saginata, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that the tapeworm was closely related to T. asiatica. Conclusion: Our findings support that people are caused by T. asiatica. Neither T. saginata nor T. solium were detected during the same period, so T. asiatica was considered to be the dominant species causing human taeniasis in Dali China.

Molecular Phylogeny of Pamphagidae(Acridoidea,Orthoptera) from China Based on Mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I Sequences

Phylogenetic relationships of Pamphagidae were examined using cytochrome oxidase subunit I（cox1） gene *** species of Pamphagidae from 7 genera were sequenced to obtain mt DNA data,along with 2 species from the Gen Bank nucleotide *** results of sequence comparisons showed the cox1 gene is 1 534 bp in length,including 326 varible sites and 211 parsimonious information *** percentage of A ＋T is 67.1% in the nucleotide sequences,showing a strong AT *** distances among subfamilies are *** Locusta migratoria as outgroup,the phylogenetic trees were reconstructed with NJ,MP,ML and Bayesian inferences,and the results showed that the clustering results were approximately identical to that of classical morphological *** and Pamphaginae were a monophyletic group,*** species of the genus Asiotmethis of Prionotropisinae did not get together with other species of Prionotropisinae,classification position of Asiotmethis should be further discussed by both genetic markers and morphological *** current genus Filchnerella of Prionotropisinae was not a monophyletic group.
