Lower bound of local quantum uncertainty for high-dimensional bipartite quantum systems

Quantum correlations are of fundamental importance in quantum phenomena and studies related to quantum information processing. The measurement of quantum correlations is a central challenge. A recently proposed measure of quantum correlations,local quantum uncertainty(LQU), satisfies all the physical requirements as a measure of quantum correlations. This study derives a closed-form lower bound of the LQU for arbitrary-dimensional bipartite quantum states using operator relaxation. We also compared the lower bound with the optimized LQU for several typical sets of quantum states. The results show that the lower bound is near to the optimized LQU for three-dimensional bipartite quantum systems.

The particle-number-conserving method based on the cranked shell model is used to investigate the antimagnetic rotation band in ^(104) Pd. The experimental moments of inertia and reduced B(E2) transition probabilities are reproduced well. The J^((2))/B(E2) ratios are also discussed. The occupation probability of each orbital close to the Fermi surface and the contribution of each major shell to the total angular momentum alignment as function of rotational frequency are analyzed. The backbending mechanism of the ground state band in ^(104) Pd is understood clearly and the configuration of the antimagnetic rotation after backbending is clarified. In addition, the crossing of a four quasiparticle state with this antimagnetic rotation band is also predicted. By examining the closing of the angular momenta of four proton holes towards the neutron angular momentum, the "two-shears-like" mechanism for this antimagnetic rotation is investigated and two stages of antimagnetic rotation in ^(104) Pd are clearly seen.

An attempt is made to study various types of multiplicity distributions and multiplicity correlations amongst secondary charged particles produced in 4.5 and 14.5 A GeV/c 28Si-nucleus interactions. The results reveal that multiplicity correlations of the type , where i, j = b, g, s and h with i ≠ j, are linear. The observed multiplicity correlations are nicely fitted by the method of least squares fitting of the type, = b + ani. Furthermore, the multiplicity distributions of relativistic charged particles and compound multiplicity at 4.5 A GeV/c are nicely fitted by Poisson distributions with peaks at relatively lower multiplicities. However, in the case of multiplicity distributions of various types of secondary charged particles produced in 14.5 A GeV/c 28Si-nucleus collisions definite trends are not discernible.

As a living information and communications system, the genome encodes patterns in single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) reflecting human adaptation that optimizes population survival in differing environments. This paper mathematically models environmentally induced adaptive forces that quantify changes in the distribution of SNP frequencies between populations. We make direct connections between biophysical methods (e.g. minimizing genomic free energy) and concepts in population genetics. Our unbiased computer program scanned a large set of SNPs in the major histocompatibility complex region and flagged an altitude dependency on a SNP associated with response to oxygen deprivation. The statistical power of our double-blind approach is demonstrated in the flagging of mathematical functional correlations of SNP information-based potentials in multiple populations with specific environmental parameters. Furthermore, our approach provides insights for new discoveries on the biology of common variants. This paper demonstrates the power of biophysical modeling of population diversity for better understanding genome-environment interactions in biological phenomenon.

One of the ingredients of anthropogenic global warming is the existence of a large correlation between carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere and the temperature. In this work we analyze the original time-series data that led to the new wave of climate research and test the two hypotheses that might explain this correlation, namely the (more commonly accepted and well-known) greenhouse effect (GHE) and the less-known Henry’s Law (HL). This is done by using the correlation and the temporal features of the data. Our conclusion is that of the two hypotheses the greenhouse effect is less likely, whereas the Henry’s Law hypothesis can easily explain all effects. First the proportionality constant in the correlation is correct for HL and is about two orders of magnitude wrong for GHE. Moreover, GHE cannot readily explain the concurring methane signals observed. On the temporal scale, we see that GHE has difficulty in the apparent negative time lag between cause and effect, whereas in HL this is of correct sign and magnitude, since it is outgasing of gases from oceans. Introducing feedback into the GHE model can overcome some of these problems, but it introduces highly instable and chaotic behavior in the system, something that is not observed. The HL model does not need feedback.

An attempt has been made to study the multiplicity, angular and pseudo rapidity distributions of relativistic charged particles emerging from the interactions between sulphur and nuclear emulsion nuclei at 200 GeV/nucleon. The distributions from 200 AGeV are compared to the corresponding distributions from the predictions of Monte Carlo code FRITIOF samples. The pseudo rapidity distributions in different Nh-intervals translate to the target fragmentation region with increasing target mass. Finally, the scaling of multiplicity distributions of shower particles successfully describes the consequences of KNO scaling.

Objectives: To define optimum food and nutrient profiling in gender-specific and age group-specific variant regression models. Setting: 481 subjects of both sexes (18.4 years old) from Giza urban were set. Design: Dietary assessment used the 24-h dietary recall data to calculate the estimated energy and (24) nutrients eaten by each individual. Four indices—food variety diversity score, healthy eating index (HEI), mean probability of nutrients adequacy (MPA) and nutrient rich food (NRF9.3) index score were used for assessing the profiling of the diet. Results: A total of 163 individual food items were consumed by the participants within the 24-h dietary recall with an average daily intake of (6.6) different food varieties. Grains were the top contributors of energy and 10 macro and micro nutrients followed by the meat group. Based on the MPA data, the mean acceptable intake (AI) of dietary calcium (32.9%) and vitamin C (30%) were limiting in the diet. The diet profiling consumed by the teenagers aged 14.8 years was inferior compared to that consumed by subjects aging 23.9 years. Linear regression analyses were conducted between the 4 indices as the dependent variable and all possible combinations of 16 nutrients of interest as independent variables. NRF9.3 was the optimum nutrient index and correlated negatively with markers of abdominal obesity. Conclusion: Implementation of nutrition intervention program was directed to youths to include age appropriate good healthy foods to decrease the risk of nutrient deficiencies.

Study of some Indian medicinal plants by application of INAA and AAS techniques

Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) techniques were used to analyze 18 elements (K, Mn, Na, Fe, Zn, Cu, Co, Br, Sm, Cl, La, Al, Cr, Ca Cd, Ni, Pb and Hg) in different medici-nal plants often used in Indian Ayurvedic system. The samples were irradiated with thermal neutrons in a nuclear reactor and the induced activities were counted by γ-ray spectrometry using efficiency calibrated high resolution High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector. Most of the medicinal plants were found to be rich in one or more of the ele-ments under study. The elemental concentra-tion in different part of medicinal plants and their biological effects on human beings are discussed.

Assessment of the Off-season Rainfall of January to February 2020 and Its Socio Economic Implications in Tanzania: A Case Study of the Northern Coast of Tanzania

This article examines the off season rainfall in northern coast Tanzania(NCT)including Zanzibar which occurred in January and February 2020(JF).Like the JF rainfalls of 2001,2004,2010,2016 and 2018,the JF(2020)rainfall was more unique in damages including loss of lives,properties and infrastructures.The study used the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data to examine the cause of uniqueness of JF rainfall in 2001,2004,2010,2016,2018 and 2020 over NCT and Zanzibar.These datasets include monthly mean u,v wind at 850,700,500,and 200 mb;SSTs,mean sea level pressure(MSLP)anomalies,Dipole Mode Index(DMI),and monthly rainfall from NCT and Zanzibar stations.Datasets were processed and calculated into long term,seasonal,and monthly averages,indeed,Precipitation Index(PI)was calculated.Correlation analysis between the rainfall(December to January),SST,DMI and 850 mb wind vectors;and long-term percentage contribution of investigated parameters was calculated.Results revealed significant positive and negative correlations between JF rainfall,SSTs and DMI.Moreover,JFs of 2004 and 2016 had higher rainfalls of 443 mm with percentage contribution of up to 406%,while January and February,2020 had the highest of 269.1 and 101.1mm in Zanzibar and 295 and 146.1 mm over and NCT areas,with highest January long-term rainfall contribution of 356%in Zanzibar and 526%over NCT.The DJF(2019/20)had the highest rainfall record of 649.5 mm in Zanzibar contributing up to 286%,while JF 2000 rainfall had a good spatial and temporal distribution over most NCT areas.JF,2020 rainfall had impacts of more than 20 people died in Lindi and several infrastructures including Kiyegeya Bridge in Morogoro were damaged.Conclusively,more research works on understanding the dynamics of wet and dry JF seasons should be conducted.
