STUDY ON FACTORS AFFECTING ROOM TEMPERATURE TRANSITION OF POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE

In the X-ray diffiaction intensity distribution diagram of PTFE, three diffraction peaks exist inthe range of Bragg angle 30--45°, which are very sensitive to the Crystal trausition at room *** 15℃, the crystal is triclinic and the 'small spikes' along with the main peaks appear on the dif-fraction scans due to the distortion of the unit cell, while at 23℃, distortion no longer exists, 'smallspikes' disappear completely. When the temperature is raised to 34℃, the hexagonal crystal fur-ther randomizes and the peak at Bragg angle 42°vanishes. We assigned correctly Miller index (108) tothis peak and used 2θ=30--45°region ('sensitive region') as a criterion to characterize qualita-tively the crystal transition. It has been found that some factors such as γ-irradiation, cold press-ing, drawing, calendering and copolymerization which are usually encountered in the fabrication orapplication of PTFE articles have profound effect on the crystal transition as evidenced by X-raydiffraction patterns and DSC thermograms. The information obtained in the present work isbeneficial to the use of PTFE articles.

In 1982, Hauptman obtained a probabilistic formula of two-phase structure invariant (Friedel’s pairs)φ_H+φ_H≈-ξ, where ξ depends on the chemical composition of a crystal and anomalous dispersion. S. Fortier correctly pointed out that it is equivalent to the solution of phase ambiguity from the magnitudes |E_H| and |E_H| alone, and also doulted the accuracy of this formula.

In this paper, we have successfully solved the Eliashberg equation at T=Tc. The result is a series expression for the superconducting critical temperature: where a0（μ*）, a1（μ*） etc. depend upon μ* only. Our new Tc formula shows that Tc is determined not only by λ and μ* but also by the various moments of a2F（ω）. This is the most important point to distinguish the Tc formula of ours from those of others. Such a difference implies that the previous Tc formulae, such as MeMillan’s and Allen and Dynes’, are not only approximate, but, above all, they can not be used to indicate correctly the influence of a2 F（ω） on Tc.

In this paper, the spinor structure of the meson wave functions and the potential between the stratons based on the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation in the heavy straton model are studied with the requirement that the meson bound-state wave functions should correctly explain the branching ratio of the annihilation *** results obtained show that the properties of the potential are very strongly restricted. If a single type of the potential is used to satisfy the above-mentioned requirement, the potential must be of a pseudoscalar type. In this case, the sPinor structure of the meson wave function is not of the Bargmann-Wigner type as has been extensively used, The corresponding concrete expressions of the spinet structure of the wave fanctions is given also.
