This study investigates the functioning mechanisms of how high performance work systems （HPWS） affect organizational performance. We propose that （HPWS） can positively affect organizational performance through the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation. An organization with high performance work systems can perform better if it enjoys high level of organizational learning. We design and administer a survey questionnaire to high-level executives or founders of companies from manufacturing and service industries and receive 176 valid responses. The results of the empirical data indicate that the relationship between high performance work systems and corporate performance is more positive when organizational learning is stronger. Entrepreneurial orientation partially mediates the relationship between high performance work systems and organizational performance. This study opens new research avenues by extending and incorporating explanations and predictions of HPWS and entrepreneurial orientation, two areas that largely have been considered independently of each other. Implications for practice and directions for future research are provided.

Using a sample of Chinese family firms listed from 1999 to 2014, we investigate the relationship between non-family leadership and firm performance. We find that firms with a non-family member as board chair perform significantly worse than firms whose chair belongs to the family. Moreover, we show that the underperformance of nonfamily-chair firms is more pronounced when firms are under weaker outside monitoring and when the controlling families care less about family business longevity. The negative effect of a non-family chair is robust to a variety of endogeneity tests. We also dismiss alternative explanations other than concern for reputation. Overall, our empirical results suggest that the social norms regarding family reputation are important in shaping the controlling shareholders＇ expropriation incentives and firm performance.

The game among the corporate controlling shareholder, the shareholder in power balance and the manager can lead to severe agency problems. This paper regards the shareholder in power balance as another principal and applies the latest results about double-principal agent theory in the research of manager tunneling, supervision cost and corporate performance, trying to solve the inconsistency of the above corporate governance issue researched by domestic and foreign *** main conclusions are as the followings. The correlation among them depends on which one has a dominant position, the free rider effect of supervision or the positive externality effect on cash flow right. Therefore, the key to excite the positive effect of the corporate governance mechanism such as the check-and-balance of stock ownership is the degree of cooperation between shareholders.

By building a duopoly model based on product differentiation, both of the clean firm＇s and the dirty firm＇s performances are studied under the assumptions that consumers have different preferences for the product environmental attributes, and that the product cost increases with the environmental attribute. The analysis results show that under either the case with no environmental regulation or that with a tariff levied on the dirty product, the clean firm would always get more profit. In addition, the stricter the regulation is, the more profit the clean finn would obtain. This can verify that from the view of product differentiation, a firm could improve its corporate competitiveness with environmental management.

This study sought to answer the following question： The empirical model in which strategic planning affects innovation and competitive advantage and how does this influence corporate performance perceived by the CEOs of companies in Monterrey, Nuevo LEon, does this have an acceptable outcome in regards of the theoretical fit model？ This study was empirical, quantitative, descriptive, exploratory, explicative and transversal in nature. The studied population consisted of executives who attended the training sessions of the Institute of Public Accountants of Nuevo Le6n （IPANL）. For this study, a sample of 134 executives was selected by convenience sampling. For the data collection, an instrument of 94 indicators was elaborated and the indicators within the study were the following： 31 indicators for strategic planning, 15 indicators for innovation, 24 indicators for competitive advantage, and 24 indicators for corporate performance. The null hypotheses were analyzed using multivariate analysis denominated as a structural equation model, utilizing maximum plausibility methods. According to the selected structural equation indexes, the obtained results show that the proposed model had an acceptable goodness of fit index.

The Study on Non-linear Relationship between Shareholding Ratio of the Largest Shareholder and corporate performance

Behavioral finance research manifests that managers often show beyond general confidence level in the operating activities. Using the data of A-share listed companies, this paper constructs simultaneous equations to test the relationship among managerial overconfidence, corporate investment and corporate performance. Results show that managerial overconfidence will lead to the inefficient investment behavior. The ownership concentration will further deepen the overconfidence degree and then reduce corporate performance. Independent directors failed to enhance the corporate performance. High efficiency of investment and corporate performance will further strengthen the managerial overconfidence level.

Ownership Structure and corporate performance: a Research on China’s Listed Companies in the Tourism ＆ Catering Industry

As the foundation of corporate governance structure, ownership structure ultimately decides corporate performance. In this paper, we study on relationship between ownership structure and corporate performance, and results show that shareholding ratio of the largest shareholder and corporate performance is three times curve;along with the increase of shareholding ratio of the largest shareholder, corporate performance assumes the variation tendency of decline-rise-decline;shareholding ratio of the largest shareholder has incentive effect and entrenchment effect on corporate performance;debt-asset ratio and number of directors are significantly negatively related with corporate performance;companies’ size is significant positive related with corporate performance.
