Validation of the index for the core competence of nurses leading discharge planning for older patients in China

Objective:With the continuous advancement of aging in China,the number of older inpatients has increased sharply.Older patients have a high demand for planning their discharge services.Nurses serve as the leader of discharge planning for patients;there is a lack of reliable evaluation tool to evaluate the core competitiveness of nurses who implement discharge planning for older patients in China.The purpose of this study was to validate the index for the core competence of nurses who lead discharge planning for older patients developed by a project team through the Delphi method in the early stage.Methods:A cross-sectional questionnaire survey with 3-stage stratified sampling was used to select 1075 nurses from 17 public general hospitals in Ningxia,China.Results:The index consists of 4 first-level indicators,13 second-level indicators,and 57 third-level indicators.The results show that 57 third-level indicators had good discrimination.With exploratory factor analysis(EFA),4 common factors that explained 72.79%of the total variance were extracted.The Cronbach's a was 0.98,and the retest reliability within a 14-d interval was 0.86.The confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)results show that the fit of the index structure was good.The criterion validity was 0.73.Conclusions:The index presented excellent psychometric proper ties and can be used to measure the core competence of nurses in implementing discharge planning for older patients in China.

Introduction:Nurse specialists are being cultivated and trained in China to cope with the international development of nursing discipline.However,an empirical summary and reviews of literature have shown a lack of core competence evaluation standards for emergency nurse specialists(ENSs)in China.ENS training has been conducted in several regions without any effective competence evaluation standards.This paper describes the development and psychometric testing of the core competence Evaluation Standards for Emergency Nurse Specialists(CCESENS)in the Chinese context.Methods:Several rigorous research methods were applied.The proposed evaluation process consisted of two phases with seven steps.First,the core competence Framework Model for Emergency Nurse Specialist(CCFMENS)was established,and 118 items were generated through a review of literature,theoretical analysis,and expert interviews.Drafts of the dimensions and items were evaluated by two-round Delphi methods.Analysis hierarchy process was used to determine the weight of each dimension.Second,field testing was performed among 138 senior emergency nurses.Internal consistency and correlation analysis were applied to test the reliability and validity of the model.Results:The CCESENS consisted of five first-level dimensions,16 second-level dimensions,and 55 items.Cronbach's a coefficient of overall standards was 0.972,and each dimension ranged from 0.508 to 0.972.Expert content validity index was 0.818,and the correlation coefficients of the five first-level dimensions with the overall standards CCESENS ranged from 0.701 to 0.886(Pcore competence of ENS.

core competencies and perceived training needs of nurses in the background of Internet plus nursing service:a qualitative descriptive study

Background:The Internet plus nursing service program is being piloted in China,which has become a new home nursing service model led by nurses.To enable safe and effective homecare service delivery,nurses working in the program need a high level of competency.However,the content of these core competencies and the training needs of nurses for Internet plus nursing services are still unknown.Aim:To describe nurses’perceptions of core competencies and training needs to work in the Internet plus nursing service program,thereby providing a reference for the development of training programs.Methods:A qualitative descriptive study using semi-structured interviews was conducted on 15 nurses with experience of working in the Internet plus nursing service program.Interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim,and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis.Results:core competencies involved comprehensive assessment competence,direct care practice competence,health education and consulting competence,risk estimation and response competence,and communication competence.Training needs involved complex operational items,knowledge of chronic disease management,professional communication,risk identification and response,nursing standards,norms,and procedures,and utilization of information technology.Conclusions:The training system may be developed based on nurses’core competencies and their training needs to promote professional development of the Internet plus nursing service.

Rooting on the context of accelerating and rapid societal change and global competence trend,this study explored the meaning of core competence,roles of schooling for cultivating students to be holistic person and strategies for shaping competence-oriented school campus culture.The related literature this study reviewed include the meaning of core competence,curriculum program and teaching design for oriented competence in schools,strategies to shape school culture for teaching and learning of oriented competence,and integrated comment.In order to achieve the research purposes,this study adopted the interview and document analysis to collect data.According to the literature review,interview,document analysis,result and discussion,this study proposed conclusions in the following directions:1)The meaning of core competence;2)The main point of global competence;3)School is a learning organization and learning base within competence oriented school campus;4)Principals play the roles of vision leadership,instructional leadership and curriculum leadership;5)Teachers play the roles for shaping competence oriented school campus culture;6)The strategies of shaping competence oriented school campus culture;7)The process and related factors of constructing school-based curriculum.Finally,researchers proposed reflection for this study.

在智能时代，爆炸式增长的信息与人脑有限的认知能力之间的鸿沟日益扩大，人们需要借助外部设备来增强自身的认知能力，以更好地适应复杂的现代社会，认知外包成为时代发展的必然。文章阐述了认知外包的机理及其关键过程，并根据认知外包过程中外部设备在计算、感知、认知和社会化上不同层次提供的支持将认知外包分为了四种类型。而有效认知外包的核心在于内外部认知网络的平衡与有效连接，以及意义的理解和生成，这需要人们具备一些关键能力。在教育领域，如果学生自身头脑缺乏足够完备的知识和相应的关键能力，认知外包可能会导致其陷入典型教育陷阱：思维懒惰与幼稚化、认知地位边缘化、发展主体性丧失、认知肤浅与碎片化、认知偏见与极端化。为了帮助学生跨越这些陷阱，需要推进核心素养导向的深度教学变革。

To obtain a sustainable competitive advantage and achieve global innovation leadership,firms in China and other emerging economies must develop strong indigenous innovation capabilities through the coevolution of strategy,organization,resources,and culture.Drawing on current innovation management theories and practices,this study proposes four systematic paths for improving firm innovation systems(FISs),namely,the R&D-based internal collaborative FIS,the strategic vision-driven FIS,the open and user-driven FIS,and the holistic ecosystemdriven FIS.This study contributes to the systematic approach for enhancing corporate indigenous innovation capability based on FISs.Moreover,this study provides theoretical and practical insights for China as well as other developing countries to cultivate world-class enterprises and build an innovative nation.

At present,the research on competitive advantage theory has to become three schools,which are competitive advantage school,core competence school and resource school.From outside-decided theory,inside-decided theory,to dynamic developing theory,the search for the source of competitive advantage has experienced an evolving process.On the basis of strategic management theory,this study reintegrates the competitive theory with systematic analytic method.It has smoothed different theories of these three schools and provided a clear path to search for competitive advantage for companies.
