Sampling was carried out at Baishui No.1, the largest glacier on Mt. Yulong, China, during the summers of 1999 and 2000, to investigate the spatial variations of oxygen isotopes in the atmosphere-glacier-river system. The results confirm that there is an inverse relation between the oxygen isotopic composition of precipitation and air temperature/precipitation amount. This suggests that a strong 'precipitation amount effect' exists in this typical monsoon temperate-glacier region. There are marked differences of the δ18O values of winter-accumulated snow, glacial meltwater, summer precipitation and the glacier-fed river water. Spatial and temporal variations of isotopic composition are controlled by climatic conditions. Isotopic fractionation and differentiation occur during phase changes, snow-to-ice and ice-to-meltwater transformations, and runoff processes. Variations of stable isotopes in glacier runoff can indicate variations of sources of supply, as well as different discharge-related processes. Ionic changes occur as a result of meltwater contact with glacier bed materials.

The knowledge of contemporary climatic change over the Qinghai Xizang (Tibet) Plateau (QXP) has been inadequate for a long time due to lack of enough observational data. In this paper, on the basis of monthly temperature and precipitation data in 1961-1990 from 48 stations on the QXP, the temperature data are extended backward to 1901 with an empirical orthogonal function (EOF) method, microscopic characteristics of contemporary climatic change over the QXP are analyzed, and the response of the plateau climate to global warming is discussed in combination with atmospheric general circulation model (GCM) outputs. The results show that the plateau climate, as a whole, has been warming since the early part of this century, that the precipitation has generally been increasing during the recent 30 years, and that these climatic trends seem to be related to the enhanced green house effect induced by increasing CO 2 concentration in the atmosphere.

A vast amount of iconic buildings distinguished by complex geometries have been constructed in the last two decades in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. Overall, the construction of these iconic buildings has led to technical innovations. As these buildings are often erected following customised construction details and bespoke technical solutions that are rarely tested in advance, measuring their ageing process has become crucial to understand if these geometries are sustainable in terms of the cost of their maintenance. This study aims to analyse the technical design development and the ageing process of the Jubilee Church in Rome by Richard Meier. Only fourteen years after the opening, this building is affected by extensive decay of construction materials due to both wrong technical design choices and lack of unaffordable maintenance work. This study aims to identify the causes of the premature decay of this building, recording retroactively its technical development and mapping the current state of damages.

In his book Time in Ruins, the French anthropologist Marc Auge pointed out that Hhumanity is not in ruins, it is being built." These words well fit both the present-day Chinese context and the figurative trend of new shanshuihua in which construction sites, cityscapes and artificial nature territories become the subject of depiction. New iconic elements that provide a visual and conceptual framework for artists' construction of a different shanshui-type heavily indebted to Chinese social and environmental changes, these new coded depictions substitute the traditional representation of natural landscape, reflect the rise of a new sensibility about nature and challenge the idea of what landscape is in the context of Chinese contemporary art. By focusing on a variety of works related to the theme of art讦icial nature and representing paradigmatic images of physical and allegorical landscape, this paper aims to explore this visual and conceptual innovations introduced in the context of new shanshuihua and analyze the way in which artists use nature, trying to find a new aesthetic categorization for this artistic genre.

1 The Geochemical characteristics of hot spring systems THE characteristic element abundance value/concentration coefficients of the geochemical characteristics ofTengchong are: Au-6.10/4.07, As-7.13/3.96, Sb-1.25/6.23, Pb-30.87/2.47, Th-20.25/2.11, Cd-0.57/2.83; Li-40/2, Ti-1.30/2.89 (abundance unit: Au-1 × 10-9, the others-1 ×10-6 ). Generally, these 8 elements can reflect the characteristics of the metallogenetic process with magmatic hydrothermal activities in the area. The abundances of other 32 elements measured are similar tothose of the crust. Granite in the area belongs to the calc-poor granite. Compared with the granite abundance in theworld, Cr, Co, Th, Pb and Cd are the concentrated elements. Their change in the regional distributionshows that Ca, Na, Th, Zn and REE increase from north to south, but Mg, Ti, Ba, Cu, Li, V, Zr,

Complex higher-risk and indicated patients (CHIPs) refers to patients with severe coronary artery disease (CAD) needing revascularization. However, these patients are at an increased risk for this procedure.[1] The CHIP population is attracting much interest in the field of interventional cardiology, since it was introduced in 2016 by Kirtane et al,[1] and the optimal treatment strategies for this population were fiercely discussed in almost every interventional forum at home and abroad. First of all, a comprehensive risk assessment must be conducted to determine which patients with CAD should undergo revascularization based on clinical presentation, functional tests, and anatomic characteristics. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) might be a beneficial option when complete revascularization can be achieved, especially for patients are either inoperable or at higher surgical risk.[2,3] To treat these high-risk patients safely and effectively with PCI, well-trained interventionalists exhibiting both technical and cognitive skills are needed.

contemporary China has seen a fragmented and tortuous urban design development process with frequent interactions with other countries and it is impossible to adopt a linear thinking in relevant historical studies. This paper starts with controversies over urban design in contemporary China and reaches a conclusion that two differentiated development paths exist, i.e., technology and value. Based on the two paths, the paper analyzes four urban design ideas, design of physical form, comprehensive design of the environment, control of design, and design of policy, and summarizes the characteristics and evolution mechanism of these ideas. It attempts to establish an evolution framework of urban design, so as to provide a reference for its localization in China against the backdrop of globalization.
