An organic integrated pixel with organic light-emitting diodes （OLEDs） driven by organic thin film transistors （OTFTs） is fabricated by a greatly simplified processing. The OTFTs are based on copper phthalocyanine as the active medium and fabricated on indium-tin-oxide （ITO） glass with top-gate structure, thus an organic integrated pixel is easily made by integrating OLED with OTFT. The OTFTs show field-effect mobility of 0.4cm^2/Vs and on/off ratio of 10^3 order. The OLED is driven well and emits the brightness as large as 2100cd/m^2 at a current density of 14.6 μA /cm^2 at -19.7 V gate voltage. This simple device structure is promising in the future large-area flexible OLED displays.

Highly Efficient Electrophosphorescence from a Grafted Biscyclometalated Iridium Complex with Triarylamine Unit in Polymer Light-Emitting Devices

The electroluminescence performance from a novel grafted cyclometalated iridium complex (BuPhNPPy)(2)Ir(acac) with triarylmine unit, where BuPhNPPy is N,N-di(4-tert-butylphenyl)-4-(2-pyridyl) phenylamine and Hacac is acetylacetone, is demonstrated in the double-layered polymer light-emitting devices (PLEDs). The PLEDs emit intense green phosphorescence at 533 nm with a shoulder peak of 566 nm employing 4 wt.% (BuPhNPPy)(2)Ir(acac) doped a blend of poly(vinylcarbazole) (PVK) and 2-tert-butylphenyl-5-biphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD) as the emitting layer. A maximum luminance of 14610 cd/m(2) at voltage of 24 V and a maximum external quantum efficiency E-ext of 10.4% photons per electron (ph/el) at current density of 32mA/cm(2) are achieved. When the current density is raised to 100mA/cm(2), E-ext of the device still remained to 8.3% ph/el. This indicates that the triplet-triplet annihilation is restrained more effectively at high current density. The improvement of electrophosphorescence performances of the iridium complex may be contributed to an ortho-substituent effect of grafted triarylmine unit.

Polaron tunnelling is studied in xPA/nPPP/xPA (PA for polyacetylene and PPP poly (p-phenylene)) triblock copolymer, which has a well-barrier-well structure. An extended tight-binding Hamiltonian including external electric held is adopted. Without electric field, the injected electrons would not extend over the whole copolymer chain but instead be confined in the segments of PA. This is different from the behaviour of the traditional semiconductors. It is found that the polaron can transfer to the potential barrier-PPP segment when the applied electric field reaches a certain value. The critical polaron tunnelling electric fields depend upon the lengths of PPP segments.

A fully non-local exchange-correlation formalism the weighted density approximation （WDA）, has within the framework of density functional theory, known as been applied to the conjugated polymer poly-para-phenylene vinylene （PPV） and is shown to lead to a marked improvement in the agreement of theory and experiment for the electronic band structure of the conjugated polymer. In particular, some new model WDA functions are developed, which substantially increase the electronic band gap of the polymer relative to those obtained with the local density approximation and generalized gradient approximation. The calculated band gap of PPV is quantitatively or atleast semiquantitatively in agreement with the experimental data.

Polymer photovoltaic devices based on poly（3-hexylthiophene）（P3HT）： [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyricacid methyl ester （PCBM） 1：1 weight-ratio blend are reported. The effects of various annealing treatments on the device performance are investigated. Thermal annealing shows significant improvement of the device performances. For devices at 130℃ annealing, maximum power conversion efficiency （PCE） of 3.3% and All factor up to 60.3% is achieved under air mass 1.5, 100 m W/cm^2 illumination. We discuss the effect of thermal annealing by the results of ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy （UV-vis）, dark current-voltage curve, atomic force microscopy （AFM）.

Employing an organic dye salt of trans-4-[p-[N-methyl-N-（hydroxymethyl）amino]styryl]-N-methylphridinium tetraphenylbovate （ASPT） as the active layer, 8-hydrocyquinoline aluminium （Alq3） as the electron transporting layer and N, N＇-diphenyl-N, N＇-bis（3-methylphenyl）-[1,1＇-biphenyl]-4,4＇-diamine （TPD） as the hole transporting layer, respectively, we fabricate a multi-layered organic light-emitting diode and observe the colour tunable electroluminescence （EL）. The dependence of the EL spectra on the applied voltage is investigated in detail, and the recombination mechanism is discussed by considering the variation of the hole-electron recombination region.

π-conjugated organic luminescent materials are essential components for modern optical and photoelectric *** review mainly probes into the recent work in the progress of smart π-conjugated organic systems in the form of cyanostilbene and its derivatives,which can regulate its excellent features in response to a variety of physical or chemical stimuli（***,light,magnetism,electric field,polarity,pH and solvent environment）.As a result of its extensive applicability and adaptability,cyanostilbene and its derivatives have been planted into different structural architectures such as polymers,functional nanoparticles,solid membranes,supramolecular systems and so *** review will first give a general description of the preparation and characterization of cyanostilbenebased optoelectric luminophores and then focus on their peculiar functional properties in the need for advanced material applications,such as AIEE（aggregation-induced enhanced emission effect）,solidstate emission,photovoltaics,photolithography and photochromism to be further processed *** purpose of this review is to give a platform of practical organic materials,mostly cyanostilbene and its derivatives,based on stable aromatic derivatives,to contribute to the booming of modern π-conjugated photoelectric materials that integrate with contemporary physics,material chemistry,bioengineering,medical science and aerospace altogether.

Poly（3-hexylthiophene）（P3HT） has received much attention as a good candidate to replace inorganic semiconductors for flexible electronics due to its solution-processability. However, the low charge mobility of P3HT is an obstacle to its commercialization. To overcome this problem, we propose a new non-covalent functionalization method for carbon nanotubes （CNTs） for use in CNT/P3HT nanocomposites. By using modified pyrene molecules with hydrophobic long alkyl chains, the non-covalently functionalized CNTs can become well dispersed in hydrophobic solutions and organic semiconductor matrices. Fabrication of organic thin-film transistors （OTFTs） from the non-covalently functionalized CNT/organic semiconductor nanocomposites shows that our non-covalent functionalization method significantly reduces damage to CNTs during functionalization when compared with covalent functionalization by treatment with acids. The OTFTs show 15 times enhancement of field effect mobility （1.5 × 10^-2 cm^2/（V.s）） compared to the mobility of OTFTs made from pure P3HT. This enhancement is achieved by addition of only 0.25 wt% of CNTs to P3HT.
