A DIRECT SEARCH FRAME-BASED conjugate gradients METHOD

A derivative-free frame-based conjugate gradients algorithm is presented. Convergence is shown for C^1 functions, and this is verified in numerical trials. The algorithm is tested on a variety of low dimensional problems, some of which are ill-conditioned, and is also tested on problems of high dimension. Numerical results show that the algorithm is effective on both classes of problems. The results are compared with those from a discrete quasiNewton method, showing that the conjugate gradients algorithm is competitive. The algorithm exhibits the conjugate gradients speed-up on problems for which the Hessian at the solution has repeated or clustered eigenvalues. The algorithm is easily parallelizable.

Wideband signal processing is always realized by wideband correlative processing which has a time scale and time delay 2-D peak value search calculation structure. Aiming at the relatively high parameters estimation precision, the structure should have a high search density, but it would cause a heavy operation which system cannot afford. Then a fast algorithm of parameters estimation based on conjugate gradients was advanced. The computer simulation of fast algorithm was accomplished and parameters estimation deviation variance curves were calculated by Monte Carlo method. The simulated reflected signal of high-speed moving target was collected in lake test and the fast algorithm were applied on the target detection and parameters estimation under the low SNR. The results of simulation and lake test showed that the fast algorithm based on conjugate gradients could reach the peak value by low operation and relatively high parameters estimation precision by iterative calculation.

Three-Dimensional conjugate Gradient Inversion of Magnetotelluric Impedance Tensor Data

We developed a three-dimensional（3D） conjugate gradient inversion algorithm for in-verting magnetotelluric impedance tensor *** order to show the importance of including diagonal components of magnetotelluric impedance tensor in 3D inversion,synthetic data were inverted using the 3D conjugate gradient inversion,and the inversion results were compared and *** results from the 3D inversion of synthetic data indicate that both the off-diagonal and the diagonal components are required in inversions to obtain better inversion results when there are no enough data sites to recover the target resistivity *** examples show that lots of information about 3D structure is also contained in the diagonal components;as a result,diagonal components should be in-cluded in 3D *** inversion algorithm was also used to invert the impedance tensor data ac-quired in the Kayabe area in *** with the synthetic and real data demonstrated the va-lidity and practicability of the inversion algorithm.
