Benefiting from the inherent superiorities in flexibility and mobility,the use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)as flying base stations for wireless coverage has been of significant interest,especially for rescue *** work concerns the reliable emergency communication based on commercial micro-sized UAVs due to their high availability and low *** decrease the weight overloads and to improve the power efficiency,a UAV body conformal and omnidirectional antenna is first presented based on the characteristic mode *** extend the wireless coverage and to improve the communication quality of the UAV network,a UAV flight formation is then proposed and *** addition,the propagation analyses for the proposed UAV transmitter designs are performed in a realistic hilly canyon *** and comparisons are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed designs in emergency communications and performance enhancement through the UAV flight formation.

A conformal Conical Archimedean Spiral antenna for UWB Communications

In this paper, a wide-band miniaturized conformal conical Archimedean spiral(CCARS) antenna is proposed for Ultra wideband(UWB) *** CCARS antenna utilizes the vertical space instead of horizontal space significantly saving the antenna installation space. We investigate the transformation from Planar Archimedean spiral(PARS) antenna to the CCARS antenna and the antenna miniaturization technique. Due to the using of flexible dielectric substrate, the PARS antenna can be bent freely, which assures the transformation from the PARS antenna to the CCARS antenna. To realize antenna miniaturization, zigzag shape arms are applied to the PARS antenna. Moreover, the CCARS antenna has good unidirectional radiation property that avoids the using of traditional absorber-loaded back cavity. The measured results of antenna prototype indicate that the Voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) is below 2 over the frequency range from 1.3GHz to 9GHz. The antenna gain is higher than3.4d Bi and the Front to back(F/B) ratio is better than20 d B from 2GHz to 7GHz. In addition, good radiation patterns and broad 3d B beam width are also available for the CCARS antenna.

Direction of arrival estimation on cylindrical conformal array using RARE

When the information of mutual coupling and shadowing effect of a conformal antenna array are unknown, the performance of direction of arrival （DOA） estimation will be seriously degraded by using some classical methods, such as the multiple signal classification （MUSIC） algorithm. Meanwhile it is difficult to measure or estimate the shadowing effect. The DOA estimation for a conformal uniform circular array （UCA） is studied. Firstly, the azimuthal angle is separated from all the unknown information by transforming the UCA from the element space to the mode space. Then the rank reduction （RARE） algorithm is applied in the estima- tion of the azimuthal angle. The π ambiguity existed in the RARE is solved by the beam forming. The main advantage of this method is that it does not need to measure the mutual coupling and the shadowing effect. Compared with the subarray method, it will not decrease the aperture of the array. Simulation results validate the advantages of the method.

An integrated quantum probe for magnetic field imaging is proposed,where the nitrogen–vacancy(NV)center fixed at the fiber tip is located on the periphery of flexible ring *** flexible polyimide(PI)as the substrate medium,we design a circular microstrip antenna,which can achieve a bandwidth of 140 MHz at Zeeman splitting frequency of 2.87 GHz,specifically suitable for NV center ***,this antenna is seamlessly fixed at a three-dimensional-printed cylindrical support,allowing the optical fiber tip to extend out of a dedicated *** mitigate errors originating from processing,precise tuning within a narrow range can be achieved by adjusting the conformal ***,we image the microwave magnetic field around the integrated probe with high resolution,and determine the suitable area for placing the fiber tip(SAP).
