The metal organic deposition (MOD) method was used for the epitaxial growth of the CeO2/La2Zr2O7(LZO)/LZO seed layer structure on a cube-textured Ni5W substrate layer by layer. The material phase and the macro-orientations were analyzed by XRD. The surface morphology and the blocking performance of the buffer layer were investigated by SEM and AES. The grain orientation and the crystallographic growth mode of the CeO2 layer were first characterized by electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD). The uniformly distributed islanded LZO seed layer optimized both the in-plan and the out-plan orientation of the CeO2/LZO buffer layers, and the CeO2/LZO buffer layers with a thickness of 175 nm acted as an efficient Ni,W barrier. The EBSD analysis indicated that the crystallographic orientation of each layer can be obtained at various accelerating voltages for the multilayer sample, the percentage of {001} rotated cube texture of CeO2 layer reaching 97.4% at the accelerating voltage of 15 kV, thus showing epitaxial deposition with a high texture.

Preparation and characterization of the YBCO superconducting films by chemical solution route with polyethylene glycol (PEG200) and Cu(NO3)2 as precursors are presented. It was found that PEG200 and sucrose were novel chelates and Cu (NO3)2 was an alternative precursor for the preparation of YBCO superconducting film by chemical solution route. The precursor solution was prepared by mixing yttrium trifluoroacetate, barium trifluoroacetate, and copper nitrate in solvent of methanol with chelates including PEG200 and sucrose. YBCO films were prepared by coating the precursor solution on LaAlO3 single crystal substrate, following vacuum drying, rapid calcining, firing and oxygen annealing. The prepared films were characterized by optical microscope (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that films were crack-free and homogeneous, stronger tendency of (00l) texture, uniform with less pore, pure c-axis orientation. The films showed good superconducting properties, with Tc of 90 K and critical current density (Jc) of 1 MA/cm2 (77 K, 0 T). This work demonstrates that the developed method is a promising method for preparation of YBCO superconducting film which has a fine superconducting characterization with advantages of simple and rapid.

A series of BaZr0.2Co0.8-χFeχO3-σ materials for oxygen separation were synthesized through a citric and EDTA acid combined complexing method, and their crystal structures, oxygen permeabilities, sintering and sealing abilities were investigated. The results showed that the cubic perovskite structure was formed for materials in the composition range investigated. Oxygen permeation flux and stability, as well as sintering and sealing abilities of the synthesized materials were increased or improved apparently due to the introduction of zirconium. For example, the oxygen permeation flux reached 0.8 mL/min · cm2 when χ = 0.2 or 0.3 at 950℃, and a stable time-related oxygen permeation flux was found for the BaZr0.2Co0.3Fe0.5O3-σ membrane at 800℃.

Novel mixed conducting oxides, B-site Bi-doped perovskites were exploited and synthesized. Cubic perovskite structures were formed for BaBi0.2COyFe0.8-yO3-δ (y≤0.4) and BaBixCo0.2Fe0.8-xO3-δ (x=0.1 -0.5). The materials exhibited considerable high oxygen permeability at high temperature. The oxygen permeation flux of BaBi0.2Co0.35Fe0.45O3-δmembrane reached about0.77×106 mol/cm2 ·s under an air/helium oxygen partial pressure gradient at 900 ℃, which was much higher than that of other bismuth-contained mixed conducting membranes. The permeation fluxes of the materials increased with the increase of cobalt content, but no apparent simple relationship was found with the bismuth content. The materials also demonstrated excellent reversibility of oxygen adsorption and desorption. Stable time-related oxygen permeation fluxes were found for BaBi0.2Co0.

For the application of second generation high temperature superconducting coated conductors (CCs) with layered structures, thermal mismatch between different components and electromagnetic force exerted in superconducting layer in a working magnet can cause transverse tensile stress, which would result in delamination behavior. Therefore many research groups have designed experiments to measure the delamination strength and dedicate to improving that. However, the reason of the discrete distribution of measured data has still not get quantitatively studied, besides, there are lack of investigations on the method of changing depositing conditions to improve the delamination strength except by adding an additional metal layer. In this work, we adopt an anvil test device and obtain delamination strengths as 29.6 MPa of YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO)/buffer and 114.6 MPa of buffer/substrate by combing energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS) detection. The reason of discretized measurement data on the delamination strength is explained. Moreover, we find that different temperatures during Ag deposition determine the bonding force of Ag and YBCO layer. The Delamination strength between Ag and YBCO layer increases from 4.4 MPa to larger than 114.6 MPa with temperature elevated from 30℃ to 100℃. Hence we present a novel method for improving the delamination strength of YBCO CCs by setting an optimal temperature of Ag deposition.

We have fabricated the fuel cell based on the tissue derived biomaterial “collagen” and investigated its proton transfer. It was found that “collagen” becomes the electrolyte of fuel cell in the humidified condition. The power density of the fuel cell becomes typically 8.6 W/m2 in the 80% humidity. Further, these results indicate that collagen exhibits proton conductivity in the humidified condition. Both of proton conductivity and dielectric constant increase by the increase of humidity. From the analyses of the frequency dependence of AC conductivity, it was found that proton conductivity and the dielectric dispersion observed in the humidified condition are caused by the formation of the water bridge, which is bonded with the collagen peptide chain. Considering that hydration induces the formation of the water bridge and that increases proton conductivity and dielectric constant, it is deduced that proton transfer in the fuel cell based on collagen is caused by the breaking and rearrangement of hydrogen bond in the water bridge.
