While multiple sclerosis (MS) is more common among Caucasian populations, its prevalence is increasingly noted in ethnic groups that had previously been considered to have a low frequency of the disease. Epidemiologic studies indicate a considerable augmentation of MS presence in areas such the Middle East[1] and Latin American countries(2)Along with the general clinical effects of this complex neurological disorder is the impact exerted by some of its comorbid neuropsychiatric manifestations particularly depression, described as affecting three times higher MS patients than the general population(3)Literature and general perceptions had suggested clinical depression, although chronic in most MS cases, was unrelated to disability progression or disease course[4,5].

Background: Families function less efficiently when one of the children suffers from illness. Upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) are common among children. Though the child may have no critical or serious health problem, the parents may frequently get worried and visit the general practitioner or pediatrician. Do children with URTI who visit the doctor frequently pass through a normal stage in childhood or are their parents more concerned than usual? Methods: A questionnaire was filled out for 76 children between 1 and 4 years of age. Two groups were created: a URTI group and a control group. Results: The URTI group suffered from these infections for 19.4 days a month, compared with 5.9 days in the control group. In addition, they also suffered from fever for a longer duration and used more antibiotics. The parents of these children were found to be more concerned, caused by a fear of a serious disease. They often keep their child at home and make their child consume more medicines. Conclusions: Parents of children with recurrent infections are found to be more concerned and a hypothesis of high parental concern and child's illness is discussed. Minimizing parental concern can therefore be a possible preventive treatment.

"Samuelson's concern" and "Kindleberger Trap" are cited as justifications for trade protectionism under the Trump administration. After reviewing Samuelson's and Kindleberger's trade theories, this paper finds that both Samuelson and Kindleberger are actually proponents of free trade, and that their common concern is falling US competitiveness due to its economic model, domestic institutional rules, and unilateralism. Both the "Samuelson's concern" and "Kindleberger Trap" are distortions of Samuelson's and Kindleberger's original theories and the arguments' defense of protectionism cannot overcome the challenges confronting the U.S. and will destabilize international economic order.

Inorganic scale deposits are a major water-related problem encountered in producing oil and gas wells. The harshness of scale deposits is dependent on the field operating conditions. Scale deposits can vary from mild scaling tendencies to extreme. In general, the scale deposit will cause a reduction in formation pores, declining productivity and eventually blockage of the wellbore and hence unexpected downtime if it is allowed to persevere. To overcome this, the productivity of an oil and gas well is ensured by handling scale deposits via removal or prevention methods. Scale prevention is the best and cost-e ective method for handling scale deposits that ensures production continuity. Inhibition through 'threshold' scale inhibitor treatment is the most common method that is proven to prevent or reduce likely deposits. This paper examines the art of synthetic scale inhibitors, in particular, threshold scale inhibitors in oil and gas production. It discusses the chemistry of those inhibitors, inhibition mechanisms, treatment methods and key properties for their applications. It also highlights the chemistry of the synthetic routes often used to produce them in the laboratory and/or industry. Finally, it highlights the environmental concerns for the applicability of threshold scale inhibitors.

A Tragedy of Egoism——an Analysis of George Eliot's Moral concern in Middlemarch

George Eliot’s works are usually taken as morally didactic.But in Middlemarch,a complex and voluminous work,her moral concern seems ambiguous and hard to follow.By close reading of the text,we can find that the tragic fall of those main characters is essentially due to their egoism.This essay tries to reveal Eliot’s basic moral concern embodied in this novel,that is,to render love and understanding based on Feuerbach’s religion of humanity as against egoism,as a solution to the predicament of human existence and as a way to happiness.[
